Bio:
Bangalore Choir is an American hard rock band formed in 1991. They were formed by the former frontman of Accept, David Reece, and guitarists Curt Mitchell and John Kirk (both formerly of Razor Maid). Joining them from Hericane Alice, was bassist Ian Mayo and Jackie Ramos on drums, future members of the band Bad Moon Rising with Whitesnake/Dio guitarist Doug Aldrich and Lion/Tytan vocalist Kal Swann. Their debut album was produced by Max Norman, and featured songs co written by Jon Bon Jovi and Aldo Nova. Despite having big names involved, the album was not a success.Mayo and Ramos moved on to the band Bad Moon Rising. Mayo also continued with the band Burning Rain. Reece formed the band Sircle of Silence before disappearing from the music scene. Curt Mitchell now is a guitar teacher in Nevada and has his own guitar site.2010, talks of a reunion resurfaced with Reece being the driving force. John Kirk, Ian Mayo, and Jackie Ramos declined offers to join the band again, but Curt Mitchell accepted as well as original bassist Danny Greenberg. These three original members, along with new guitarist Andy Susemihl (formerly of U.D.O.) and drummer Hans in 't Zandt, made a new Bangalore Choir album in spring and summer of 2010, called Cadence. The album was released on September 23, 2010 through German label AOR Heaven. In November 2011, David Reece's Facebook page stated vocals were completed on a new Bangalore Choir album. This new album "Metaphor" was released in April 2012.
Album:
Back in the early 90s this band should probably have done a lot better with their debut that had names like Jon Bon Jovi among the writers. But they didn’t! Fast forward to 2010 and they reformed to release a new album and here is their third, appearing just a little quicker. The album was recorded in three separate locations and then mixed at the first of them. There’s a fairly bluesy feel to much of this in no small part down to the vocals of David Reece. But it doesn’t mean there isn’t space for some swirling guitar work as shown on opener “All The Damage Done” as well as a couple of other tracks. There’s also room for something a little edgier on “Silhouettes On The Shade” before the country feel of “Never Face Ole Joe Alone” heads off in a new direction.Throughout there is a mature feel to this that is dripping with tight skills. It suggests it was worth them all getting together to give it a try with a sprinkling of new band mates and as an album is ahead of many of its closer rivals. If you are looking for something reliable but with a little bit of something extra then this is a definite album to seek out. This is a straight forward rock album as simple as that, not such much of a differ between this one and "Candence" in music quality i guess..."All The Damage Done","Trojan Horse","Don't Act Surprised","Catch An Angel Fallin'","Fools Gold" & "Always Be My Angel" are my faves !
