Bio:

ÅGE STEN NILSEN has, since the adventurous success with Wig Wam, securely established himself as an artist on his own. After playing critically acclaimed parts in musicals like Chess and Which Witch, he went on recieving national success with his self-produced Queen tribute show The Show Must Go On. He has made his debut as a television host in one of TV3´s great successes the Singing Bee, and now Åge Sten Nilsen is ready to stir up the fireworks of his artistically expression with the album GLAMunition.GLAMunition has in all ways turned out to be a unique album, signed Åge Sten Nilsen. In close cooperation with co-producer Christian Ingebrigtsen, he has created a playful and exciting album which takes the listener on a musical journey rearly experienced in the musical climate of today. We get fired of with Wig Wam oriented pop/rock pearls like No Cigar, Touch of the Untouchable and Count On Me, painted with a Beatles-like brush in beautiful compositions like Brave, Don´t and his epic duet with no other than Dan Reed in Where The Good Times Grow. There are also tunes that will fill the dancefloor, like Bring The Night On and Vainette. Dressed in a varied sound that compliments each song, the listener gets everything from a full wind section and string quartets to a historic duet with ELG from Dance With A Stranger accompanied by TNT´s guitar master Ronnie Le Tekrø and Europe guitarist Kee Marcello in unison with The Norwegian Opera´s Ragnhild Heiland Sørensen.GLAMunition will be in stores from February 9th.Åge Sten Nilsen was born 22nd November 1969 and made his debut on stage during a local talent show only 14 years old, where he came second. He quickly established himself in the local music scene in Østfold as a vocalist in a series of rockband and shows. His professional debut came in 1992 when he played Woof in 83 performances of the musical HAIR on Bryggeteateret in Oslo. With HAIR he also made his debut on national television during the opening show of the new TV channel, TV2, in the Grieg Hall in Bergen. In 1994 he was back on the screen in NRK (Norways No 1 TV channel) in the success show Rondo with popular TV host Petter Nome, a program watched by 1/5 of the Norwegian population. Rondo came out with the album Da Doo Ron Ron on Grappa Records which again led to an extensive tour in Norway for the five vocalists of the show. In the middle of the tour, Åge Sten chose to jump of to the benefit of his own band Scoop with his companions since then Ole Tom Torjussen (drums), Atle Rakvåg (bass) and Einar Langseth (guitar).Scoop toured all over Norway performing mainly original repertoire and started working on their debut album with producer Ronnie LeTekrø (TNT). The band however, split up due to musical disagreements during the recording prosess and Åge Sten continued on as a solo artist. His debut as a solo artist came in the Norwegian Song Contest (Melodi Grand Prix) in 1998 with the song Always Will, where he came third despite being the professional jury´s favourite. Always Will became a popular radio hit with 16 weeks on Hit Top 40. His debut album G-STEN first came out in 2000 after a change of record company. The album was critically acclaimed in the Norwegian music press, but due to a limited promotion budget the album was no commercial success. When Åge Sten Nilsen in 2001 was about to create a new band with his solo-band under the name of CarPetz, he changed focus and all his energy towards the newly established rock band Wig Wam that was to be his main priority.Wig Wam got their final break through in 2005 when the band won the Norwegian Song Contest and the heart of Norway with the monster hit In My Dreams. Wig Wam created a sensation in the international finale in Kiev, where the band finished at a strong 9th place. With Wig Wam, Åge Sten Nilsen, aka Glam, made great success both nationally and internationally and received both gold and platinum records for HARD TO BE A ROCK’N’ROLLER (Cd: 2005), WIG WAMANIA (Cd: 2006), In My Dreams (singel: 2005) and Rock’n’Roll Revolution 2005 (DvD: 2005). In 2005 alone, Wig Wam played over 170 concerts attended by over 300 000 people and they broke attendance records time after time. Wig Wam also established them strongly in Japan where the band did a sell-out tour in 2007.In between the work with Wig Wam, Åge Sten Nilsen has established himself as a TV host, show producer, songwriter, and solo artist and as a star in musical theatre. In 2006 came the re-launch of his solo debut album, this time with the title Wolf & Butterfly, and he was, as the only Norwegian, handpicked to play in the tour of Nick Grace´s performance of Chess. The musical also had West End stars like Sean Kingsley, David Shannon, Linzi Hately and Michael McCarthy. CHESS – the musical was a success with over 20.000 people attending the five shows in Oslo Spektrum, and Åge Sten received remarkably good critiques for his performance. He continued on to played the part as the Executioner in Which Witch at Seim during the summer of 2007. He achieved tremendous success with his self-produced Queen tribute show The Show Must Go On. Seen by over 80 000 this musical hit was claimed one of 2008´s great commercial successes in Norway. He also achieved the gold trophy for his version of the Queen classic ´39 on SonyBmg´s Allsang På Grensen – record and made his debut as a television host for TV3´s success shows Singing Bee.In 2009, Åge Sten is ready with his second solo album GLAMunition also to be released in Japan during the summer.

Album:

Scandinavian supergroup AMMUNITION are set to release their self-titled album via Frontiers Music on January 26, 2018. But the Advanced Japanese release appeared a couple hours ago (yes, two hours). The who's who from the Swedish / Norwegian melodic hard rock scene are here: Age Sten Nilsen (ex Wig Wam), Erik Martensson (Eclipse, W.E.T., Nordic Union), Victor Cito Borge (TNT), Lasse Finbråten (from Circus Maximus, also ex-Wig Wam), Magnus Ulfstedt (Eclipse) and Jon Pettersen on guitar. This album consists of 11 tracks (plus a Japanese exclusive bonus) of melodic bliss for fans to fall in love with. Bouncy n' hooky Melodic Rock is something this band has completely captured on this record.Musically, they did a great job in claiming their own unique sound that can just be referenced as Ammunition."Ammunition" kicks off as Nilsen belts out a long-held scream to some quick guitar work that leads you into 'Time', a song that will have you shaking your hips to the beat as your body finally catches up with the music and you’re humming along to the track. The momentum continues on into the second track 'Freedom Finder' which is also the second single released off of Ammunition (see the video below). The song is really groovy / melodic with great harmonies throughout and catchy choruses that let fans start singing along quickly too.As the album continues on, listeners are brought to a fun track with 'Virtual Reality Boy'. Great punchy and entertaining lyrics, pay close attention to this one, I think it will become a favorite for many.He get a slower midtempo semi-ballad with 'Eye For An Eye', a very well arranged song where you can hear Eclipse's Erik Martensson hand, then back into more uptempo territory there's 'Tear Your City Down', a tune that I almost thought Joey Tempest from Europe was doing guest vocals on, but nope, Åge completely caught me off guard with his vocals on this track. Pretty awesome actually! The album will keep you rocking out with 'Caveman', and then turn things up a bit when you get to track 8 'Wrecking Crew' another cut that had me second guessing if Joey Tempest was actually singing! This song also placed second in the Norwegian ESC Finale (Melodi Grand Prix) back in March 2017.The CD wraps up with the final 3 tracks; 'Miss Summertime' that slows down in a ballad mode with the typical Scandinavian class, then pick up the pace with 'Bad Bones', a sassy and hooky tune. The album ends on a rocking note with 'Klondike', a killer, gritty melodic hard track that will keep fans moving until the last note.As Japanese bonus track there's 'Eye For An Eye (Acoustic Version)', a very nice re-work on the fifth track showcasing how good these guys are composing.Bravo Ammunition. What a spectacular new record. You’ve given melodic hard rock music fans an album to rejoice over early in 2018. Thanks for kicking the year off for all of us with such a masterful and enjoyable CD.
