Bio:
Lipstick is theatrical rock act based in Nashville, TN. Combining the stage antics of Kiss, the technical prowess of Rush, and the pop hooks of The Beatles, Lipstick is staged to become the next great rock band of our generation. The story of Lipstick begins in darkness. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Lipstick founder Greg Troyan grew up in the 1990's, an era of music known for nu metal and grunge. Finding a distaste for the perceived negativity in music, Greg did not show an interest in music at a young age like many famous rock musicians do, but in turn had an active dislike of music. Instead, Greg turned to video games, cartoons and comic books as a form of escapism from a dark and dreary reality. In 2004, all of that changed when Greg Troyan went to his first concert: Kiss, with Poison as the opening act. It was at this concert that Greg had an epiphany about music; he realized that music could be fun, exciting and optimistic. Greg then realized he wanted to make people have fun while listening to music, and thus, Lipstick was born.It was a slow growing process for Lipstick. Greg carefully studied pop music history so that he would be best able to understand his craft, learning how genres of music evolve over time and how to properly package a product. Greg quickly realized that although he had many genres and styles of music he wanted to pursue, in order to gain commercial acceptability, he had to refine those influences into a single sound and image. Through years of work and refinement, Greg ultimately came up with the idea of Lipstick. It wasn't always easy. Battles with throat disease, economic downturn and carpal tunnel syndrome almost ended Greg Troyan's musical career for good. However, through sheer willpower and determination, Greg Troyan was able to endure all of those hardships and rise above them. He teamed with the veteran guitarist Billy Morris (ex-Warrant, ex- Quiet Riot) to record a 12 song demo and then headed to Nashville to take on the world as Lipstick. But he couldn't do it alone.Greg recruited bassist Stephen Smith and began a musical partnership akin to that of Lennon and McCartney, and thus the duo began writing new material and solidified the unforgettable Lipstick stageshow.Lipstick may have started off as just the dream of Greg Troyan, but it has become something more. It has become the representation of the dreams of many people. Lipstick has become a symbol for the underdog, for never giving up and following your dreams. Lipstick has become a symbol for never losing that smile, even when things get tough. Lipstick's show is unforgettable and its message is timeless. It's only a matter of time before they take over the world.
