Bio:
Thrash metal band from Bristol, South West, United Kingdom.Active years 1987-1990.Named as a last minute pre gig decision from the back of a Maiden album ( though later in press interviews the band would say it was after the opening line of Slayer`s `Reign in Blood' ). The band were one of the first UK Thrash bands of the late 80`s to gain media attention along side Sweet Vengeance ( soon to be Xentrix) Treason , Metal Messiah, Slammer.Coming from the west country the band were quickly taken under the wing of the UKHC scene often playing at crust and HC gigs with friends from Ripcord,Heresy,Disorder,Amebix , as well as regular gigs with legendary thrashers and close friends ,Onslaught and Swedish all girl outfit, Iceage. One of the very few fresh faced teenage metal bands who could hold their own in front of an old school punk crowd as well as a hungry new thrash audience ,they wore their influences on their sleeve and soon developed away from the Metallica thud of early recordings into the kind of crossover sound of Exodus, Nuclear Assault,D.R.I. and modern day Municipal Waste, Gamma Bomb.In 1990 ,after post production on the debut album " Sick and Tired" , Chris was fired for unpredictable behavior due to ecxessive drinking ( once actually introducing every song at an important A&R gig as a Guns n Roses track !? ) but a suitable replacement was not found and the band folded . Only Chris and Andy continued to play on in serious bands whilst the other members hung up their guns.
Album:
Both demo's F.L.T. and Who Cares? have been re-mastered and released on March 2014 through Mosh Tuneage Records. The band will be re-recording two tracks from a demo recorded for Trojan Records and new tracks to be released next year.PURGATORY were one of the lead names on the UK Thrash metal Scene of the late 1980s, who criminally never got to release an album despite being linked to Roadrunner (who on the flip of a coin signed XENTRIX instead!) and Manic Ears (who folded before the band could record their album for them, which led to the band splitting up. However, despite no release the band were well know on thrash scene, and touring / supporting the likes of ONSLAUGHT, RIPCORD, AMEBIX etc at the time . Up until now their legacy was confined only to various compilation appearances. Now, as part of Mosh Tuneage’s series of UK thrash metal reissue gems from the 80s their two demo tapes from 1988 and 1989, “FLT” and “Who Cares” have been remastered by the band and are released on CD for the first time, as “Demo(n) Days” with liner notes from the band themselves plus a heap of photos and memorabilia from the bands own personal collections, and finished off with amazing cover artwork from acclaimed illustrator Stan W Decker (STRYPER, ASIA etc).
