Bio:
Crawler is an Italian heavy metal band born in 2002. The band begins its live performances proposing, in their shows, cover songs of metal bands like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Judas Priest, Manowar, Megadeth etc. After some years the band started composing original songs and, in 2005, recorded the first demo called "Undeads" which was published only on Crawler Myspace profile with a good success both in terms of plays that comments on the songs. In 2007 Crawler started the recordings of the EP "Burst"; after being interrupted due to a line-up change, the EP recordings were completed in 2008. The EP "Burst" was positively reviewed by several metal webzines. In 2008 and 2009 Crawler played many gigs; among the most important concerts can be mentioned 2 Belgium festivals as headliner and co-headliner, the Haggard support at Rolling Stone (Milan) and Pino Scotto support. In 2010 the Band was noticed and contacted by the famous American producer Beau Hill (who has collaborated with Europe, Alice Cooper, Twisted Sister, Ratt, Warrant, Winger etc.) and together they realized the single "Knight of the Word" that was published also on the compilation "Rock Hard Italy - Explosion Vol.5" (with songs from bands like Def Leppard, Sepultura, Anvil, Devin Townsend, Night Ranger etc.). In the meantime the Band started the recordings of the first album that was completed at the beginning of 2011. The mastering was entrusted to Maor Appelbaum (who has collaborated with Rob Halford, Yngwie Malmsteen, Angra, Faith No More, Sepultura, Lita Ford, Therion, Yes, Fates Warning etc.). The album, called "Knight of the Word", was released on 15th July 2011 for SG Records and distributed by Andromeda (only for Italy) and Twilight. The first full length reached excellent results both in terms of sales that in terms of reviews on magazines and webzines Italian and foreign. In the next 3 years Crawler played several gigs, both in Italy that abroad, promoting "Knight of the Word" and supporting bands as Eldritch, Michele Luppi, Skanners, Destrage, Sadist, Vanexa etc. In July 2012 the Band realized the single "Un respiro" (the only song in Italian language) with Andrea De Paoli, keyboard player of Labyrinth, with the aim to raise funds to help the earthquake victims in Emilia Romagna. In 2013 Claudio Cesari, Crawler singer, became the singer of "Children of the Damned", an Italian Iron Maiden tribute band and the official Paul Di Anno Italian band (ex Iron Maiden singer). He is still playing several gigs in Italy and Europe with "Children of the Damned", Paul Di Anno and, sometimes, Blaze Bayley, another ex-Iron Maiden frontman. After completing the new songs, the Band turned in studio for the recordings of the second album "Hell sweet Hell"; the recordings was completed at the end of 2015. The new album "Hell sweet Hell" has been published on 31st March 2017 on Valery Records label, it's distributed by Audioglobe and it's available on Itunes.
Album:
The debut full-length album by Italian Heavy Metal band. After the successful EP "Burst", Crawler comes back with a excellent full-length album", inspired by the novel by Terry Brooks "A Knight Of The Word".Crawler is basically an Italian successor to the throne of Iron Maiden. Not only the style is simply the same, Claudio Cesari even has that Dickinson's distinctive scream. Now, if you like Maiden, there's no way you will deny that Crawler makes a decent music here based on Maiden's template! The opening track, "Crawler", is a good one example. The next one, "Speed", started to pick up the momentum. The solos are bright and brilliant and the whole fast-paced song is tremendous. On "Danger! (On Elm Street)", you can hear "Fear Of The Dark" vibe on the slow start before they outbreak with lightning-fast tempo. "Burst" and "Angels In Paradise" are safe and average, but "Cagliostoro" is another example of Maiden-colored track that was done perfectly well.If only Crawler has the courage to try their own ingredients, "Knight of The Word" could be a better album. Even though the title track and "Masters of The Night" are absolutely great tracks, the teacher's influence is too obvious. Anyway no one bad tracks inside.Good album, where the band shows that talents are there, and time is going to prove whether they can level up or decline.Do you love Iron Maiden?! This CD is just for you!!!
