Imagine a world where the Beatles swap two members with Sabbath, recruit Adam Ant and two members of the band Europe… only to crash the tour bus before the first gig where the hospitalised McCartney is simultaneously replaced by Mags from A-ha and Zakk Wylde... Formed in 2008 Evilyn Strange are part English, part Swedish. It’s been a hell of a journey recording MOURNING PHOEBE and the band is suitably bursting to release their first set of recordings to a rightfully suspicious public.

The recordings were created by:
Phillip Strange – Lead vocalist Phillip is the co-founder of Evilyn Strange and accidentally played bass guitar on the album. A multi-instrumentalist he has also been known to play on street corners armed only with a nylon string acoustic guitar and a kazoo.

Al Strange - Multi talented drummer and former member of legendary Blackpool noise terrorists Dog Food, Al co-founded Evilyn Strange in 2008. A child of the 80’s he is also responsible for sneaking all the keyboards/synths on to the album whilst the rest of the band weren’t looking.

Mikael Johannesson – seen most recently with the LoveHandles, Mikael can often be seen playing locally in Malmo. Mikael is a big part of the Evilyn Strange sound where he applies his Sumo rock guitar style with wicked delight.

Chris Hughes – Chris co-produced the album with the band and is the silent fourth member lending his skills, knowledge to the band (and his bass guitar to Phillip) at his Manchester studio. Recent collaborations include soul legend Jaki Graham but the band doesn’t hold that against him.
