Hateful was formed in 1997 by Daniele Lupidi. He started to rehearse the first songs with a couple of friends, gaining experience and improving as songwriter and performer. The material was heavily influenced by old school european Death Metal and Doom Metal. In 1998, a more serious line-up permitted the band to do the first gigs and to spread its name around. The addiction of two good musician like Matteo Manfredini (Vocals) and Marcello Malagoli (Drums) added the right motivation and strenght. The line-up was rounded up by guitarists Marcello Magoni and Luca Fortini. After the first live appearance, the group decided to record four songs using the equipment owned by the guitar player Magoni. Just before starting the recording sessions Malagoli was forced to leave, after some problems with the other members of the band and was eventually replaced by Antonio Keller. The recording session started in the autumn of 1999 with a lot of expectations, but Daniele wasn't satisfied with the sound that Magoni and his brother (sound engineer) were trying to achieve and after a lot of discussions Marcello decided to step down. The other members (Matteo Manfredini-vocals, Luca Fortini-guitar, Daniele Lupidi-Bass and Antonio Keller-drums) entered another studio on May 2000 to record After the Last Breath. The mcd had a good response in the underground scene an was well reviewed by many fanzines and magazines. Few months later, a new drummer (Matteo Busi) replaced Keller and the band played some great gigs with other great extreme bands. In 2002, things seemed to fall apart when Hateful dismissed Busi due to his lack of motivation. After a long period of frustration, long time members Matteo Manfredini and luca Fortini decided to leave the band to pursue other musical interests. Luckily, Marcello Malagoli was recruited for the second time and the band immediately started to rehearse the new tracks. Daniele Lupidi was the only member survived. In 2006 the band was asked to team up with Hellspawn (PL) and Impureza (FRa) for the release of a three-way split cd-r professionally printed by Gab of Nihilistic Holocaust productions. More than 3000 copies were spread all around the world and permitted Hateful to promote their music throught webzines and underground distros. The reviews showed the great potential of the two-man band, but the labels didn't show any kind of interest. Daniele and Marcello decided to go on and start the recordings for the first full lenght album, entitled "Coils Of a Consumed Paradise". At the same time, Matteo Manfredini rejoined the band with the role of guitar player. Unfortunately he left the band once more and Massimo Vezzani entered in the picture to complete the line-up. Hateful showed their real live potential with many live appereance during 2009 and completed the recordings of the forementioned full-lenght album, entitled "Coils of a Consumed Paradise". They recently signed a deal with italian extreme label The Spew records.

Second album of Hateful's discography, released in 2013 by The Spew records (IT). More intricate and intense than its predecessor, features an accentuated progressive vibe and dark visionary lyrics. Mastered by swedish maestro Dan Swano (Edge of Sanity, Bloodbath, Katatonia).The architects of this new temple of Death Metal, "Epilogue Of Masquerade", are the Italians HATEFUL, and they used the correct formulas to build something that I think will stand the strongest earthquakes. This trio that come straight from the city of Modena in Italy, have a 16 year experience with in the pocket, a demo and an album called "Coils Of The Consumed Paradise", released in 2010.With a brutal and technical trend at the same time, the Italians does not take long to open this new album with "Artifacts Of The Damned", a sufficient track to announce the beginning of a difficult album to decipher all of it codes. Playing with complicated measures and malicious tones seems to be the favorite pastime of the musicians forming HATEFUL and it seems clear in the following "Corrupting The Veil That Keeps The Mind Sane" and "A Despicable Harvest". Each song of this album took a rate of brutality but also a large part of work and reflection this is what gives it the technical label.I continued with "It Once Was Light” that still immersed in technicality, but "Breathing The Whirlwind" is a typical Old School, short, and announces a tournament in the album for a more brutal atmosphere that is confirmed with "Instinct Of The Carnivorous Mass ", supported by the great masters, the drummer "Marcello Malagoli", which is unknown to most people, but I tell you, this man is one of the most passionate drummer I've heard from a period now. The determination to make "Epilogue Of Masquerade" a very good album continues with the next piece, "Stillbirth" and "A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing" always spiced with very original riffs. Daniel Lupidi the founder and his colleague Massimo Vezzani always have the energy to push their guitars to the limits. Approaching to the last part of the album, I noticed a little melodic trend, but remaining hard and technical as the song "Bloodline".One thing is certain is that the Italian trio takes things seriously. It is always difficult to be distinguished with a good album in recent years, but HATEFUL succeeded to capture my attention. Is it the case for you?
