Formed in 2006, Fast Train Union is a collection of experienced musicians from a wide variety of backgrounds that have come together to make rock music for people who love rock music. Collectively in past incarnations members of FTU have opened for such world renowned acts as Exciter, Alias, Trooper, Blue Rodeo, and Rik Emmett. (Triumph).With years of music making under their belts, every member of Fast Train Union brings their own perspective on the classic rock experience while updating it for today’s audience. From the solid rhythm section to the searing guitar tracks and harmonies, Fast Train Union is a band that demands to be played loud.Their debut, self-titled release is a collection of hard hitting, raw, original material from start to finish and is a great introduction to the FTU sound. Wanting to continue where they left off with FTU I, the boys went back into the studio in 2010 to work on their next vision, pushing themselves in the process to create an even harder hitting album of guitar and riff driven music, (further honing their “FTU” sound in the process).After two hard years of work in the bowels of their Ottawa based studio, Fast Train Union completed their sophomore effort simply entitled FTU II and released it for public consumption in late 2012. Truly a step forward in both production and musical creativity FTU II pays homage to the bands they all grew up with. Fans will undoubtedly hear influences from NWOBHM to the usual Canadian rock suspects.After delays from both internal and external forces, the band has finally released its heaviest hitter to date with 2024’s third album entitled Analog Outliers. Paying homage to their influences, their 3rd album (released on vinyl, cd and digital platforms) was recorded again in Ottawa and captures the halcyon vibe of bands from the 70’s and early 80’s (and no AUTOTUNE was used for vocals).Fast Train Union look forward to playing select dates promoting FTU Analog Outliers as well as key songs off their first 2 albums. Canada Hard Rock Formed in 2006, Fast Train Union is a collection of experienced musicians from a wide variety of backgrounds that have come together to make rock music for.After years being buried in the studio Fast Train Union’s 3rd album is finally finished. If you like guitar driven 70’s early 80’s rock then I think you will appreciate this album. We certainly wear our influences on our sleeve and are not apologetic for such.We have never tried to follow trends whether that be musically or sonically (ie. latest studio trickery) and also try to serve the song in what we play on our instruments. Absolutely NO AUTO TUNE was used for vocals on the album, and we mixed and mastered it like bands actually did back in the 70’s and 80’s: with a real engineer (Jay Fee Conduction Mastering, Ottawa) who does not subscribe to the current “factory corporate mix settings/standards”.In our opinion it seems as though most bands now a days add so much compression to their instruments and final mix that they actually lose some of the dynamics in the music.The new album can really be split into 2 sections with the first half up to Falling Down/Intro being more commercial in and out type of songs and the second half of the album starting with Falling Down/Intro is geared towards longer more indulgent heavier songs with hints of prog.. Album is being released digitally, on vinyl, ltd edition blue vinyl and compact disc.We really hope you enjoy our album and that it was worth the wait.
