Bio:

Danny Wilde (birth name Daniel Thomas; born June 3, 1956) is an American musician. He is a founding member of The Rembrandts, with the Friends theme song "I'll Be There For You".Wilde was born in Houlton, Maine, but is known for breezy California power pop through his records released in the 1980s and 90s. In the 1980s he landed two minor rock radio hits with "Isn't It Enough" and "Time Runs Wild".The single "Time Runs Wild" was featured on the soundtrack to the film Dream a Little Dream.Wilde was the founding member of the power-pop band The Quick. Wilde then went on to form Great Buildings in 1981 and released an album. After the band's demise, Wilde pursued a solo career. His first solo release in 1986, The Boyfriend, garnered two pop singles: "Isn't It Enough" and "Body To Body". Wilde then released Any Man's Hunger in 1988. It featured tracks such as "Time Runs Wild" and "Wouldn't be the First Time", and reached number 176 on the U.S. album charts, his only solo album to chart in the United States. Wilde appeared on talk shows and a couple of his music videos gained airplay on MTV. His music videos can be seen on YouTube. Wilde also appeared on the Westwood One radio show and performed several tracks for the promotion of the Any Man's Hunger album. The 8-track live album is in circulation as a bootleg and can be downloaded online. Wilde followed it with the release of the self-titled album Danny Wilde in 1989. The album's only single "The Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of" gained radio play but Geffen did little to support the album and dropped Wilde two weeks after the album hit stores. However, in the 1990s Wilde found major commercial success, forming The Rembrandts with Phil Solem. The duo's two biggest hits were "Just the Way It Is, Baby" and "I'll Be There for You", the theme from Friends. In 2000, Wilde sang lead vocals on Canadian jazz-flamenco guitarist Jesse Cook's cover of the Crowded House hit "Fall at Your Feet", from Cook's album Free Fall.Wilde wrote and performed the whistling theme song for the Chinese online television series Planet Homebuddies, which is based on Friends with a Mainland China setting.

Album:

The Boyfriend is the 1986 debut solo album from Danny Wilde. It was released by Island Records. The track "Isn't it Enough" was the only single to make it on to the pop/rock charts. The same song would also be covered a year later by singer-songwriter Patty Smyth (formerly of Scandal), for her solo debut outing Never Enough. The album was never released onto CD due to Wilde's departure from Island Records. The cassette is rare and hard to find. Many fans find this album to be the best Wilde album due to its melodic pop-rock tracks and songwriting. Rock Candy Records reissued the album on CD in September 2022.The band The Quest has covered the song "The Boyfriend" during some live concerts.

Album:

You know DANNY WILDE from the late ’80s band THE REMBRANDTS. One of a number of Los Angeles musicians who began cranking out great music in the late Seventies and never stopped, he was a founding member of The Quick, a power pop band whose members would later form legendary LA bands like Cruzados and The Three O’Clock.Wilde released his debut solo album, The Boyfriend, in 1986, then signed with Geffen Records, where he recorded ‘Any Man’s Hunger’ (1988) and ‘Danny Wilde’ (1989). By the next year, Wilde and Phil Solem were already working on the demos that would become the first THE REMBRANDTS album in 1991.Now Bad Reputation is reissuing those pre-THE REMBRANDTS solo album by DANNY WILDE, a double disc set in standard jewel case with bonus disc attached in a card sleeve – ‘Danny Wilde In Concert‘, a 1988 live recording.Musically both albums are power-pop with melodic rock sensibility. ‘Any Man’s Hunger’ included the song ‘Time Runs Wild’, gaining wider attention after being featured in the film Dream A Little Dream. His third solo album, self-titled ‘Danny Wilde’ (1989) was critically appreciated but remained more of a cult success than a commercial breakthrough.‘Any Man’s Hunger’ includes the singles ‘Wouldn’t be the First Time” and the aforementioned ‘Time Runs Wild’, and reached number 176 on the U.S. album charts, his only solo album to chart in the United States. The videos gained airplay on MTV.Wilde also appeared on the Westwood One radio show and performed several tracks for the promotion of the Any Man’s Hunger album. The recording can be heard on the bonus CD.This a welcomed reissue of these DANNY WILDE solo albums. The remaster is fine, not the best from Bad Reputation headquarters, a bit too loud as happens with their recent releases.
