The genesis of Cellar Stone sparked by a conversation between George Maroulees ( guitar, DIVINER/4Bitten) and Aris Pirris (vocals, Persona Non Grata).The two of them immediately started to work on an album around 2018. After a while Akis Rooster(Bass, 4Bitten) & George Karlis (Drums, The Slayerking) joined in and the line up finally completed. Influenced by the rock & metal giants of the ‘70’s, '80's and '90's such as Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, UFO, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Alice In Chains, as well as the bands of today like Black Stone Cherry, Shinedown, Mastodon and Alter Bridge , they are making their own statement in a characteristic way. Chorus’s that stick, a pandaemonium of guitar harmonies and riffs and a rhythm section that grabs at you, the band is setting the scene and they won’t go unnoticed. With live gigs already under their belt, they have begun to build their fan base. Their first full length album "One Fine Day" is ready and is a killer slice of heavy rock & metal, from players with heart, soul and spirit that shines through in the music."One Fine Day" recorded, mixed & mastered by Nick Papadopoulos @ Soundflakes Recording Studios in Athens, Greece. CELLAR STONE is the new band from Diviner guitarist George Maroulees and singer Aris Pirris, who headed the prog underground hero Persona Non Grata for a while, but the group's approach is more straightforward compared to those two acts and unfortunately also paler character.The quartet writes the influences of all possible big names from all decades of rock history to date, whereby the naming of Iron Maiden, Metallica or Alter Bridge can basically mean anything and nothing. In fact, after inserting "One Fine Day", it is confirmed too quickly that CELLAR STONE sound as arbitrary as one would expect from a mix of only these three bands.The spectrum of the Athenians ranges from programmatic melodic rockers such as the entry 'Lights Out' to semi-metallic uptempo numbers such as the title track, stereotypically sound-silent ('Breaking From Inside') and the classic power ballad ('Hands of Fate') up to wide-legged pathos grunge ('Breaking From Inside'), for which both Alice In Chains and Nickelback would be ashamed.The implementation of the whole is nevertheless blameless: fat (contourless) production, decent craftsmanship with a handful of reasonably remarkable guitar leads, a neatly grooving drummer and confidently but rarely credibly conveyed case emotions characterize the record.Until the end, however, it remains just a product, a service for fans of so-called modern rock, primarily of North American provenance, who cannot get enough of their favorites from the USA or Canada.CONCLUSION: CELLAR STONE from Greece are a fairly convincing copy of Stone Sour and similar combos - without depth and with a blurred profile, everyone wants to serve and ultimately achieve less than they actually could.

Album:

Cellar Stone's second album "Rise & Fall" was recorded at Soundflakes Studio in January/February 2021 by Nick Papadopoulos and mixed in the woods of Kentucky, USA at Monocle Studios, by Jordan Westfall. On top of that the frontman of Black Stone Cherry, Chris Robertson, guests on the album with a fiery guitar solo on track "War We Can Win". Mastered at Euphonic Masters, Memphis, Tennessee by Brad Blackwood, the new album shows 11 heavy rock brand-new tracks. Once again Cellar Stone delivers an album with over the top production, strong melodies and massive guitar riffing. With a multi album deal signed with ROAR Records and new touring plans, the guys are looking forward to gaining new fans and sharing their music all around the world. The entire album was composed by George Maroulees in a small village on an Aegean island during a long lockdown due to Covid in Greece, March-June, 2020. It was the first time that George worked alone composing an album. The songs were then arranged with George Karlis. The band entered the studio on January 2021 to rehearse and record all the material. The Covid pandemic and the impact it has had on people's lives, especially the music industry, is reflected on the whole album. How uncertain our lives suddenly became, on a global level, is the main theme throughout the music and lyrics. Lyricist Fofi Roussos comments: "The lyrics on this album reflect to a great degree the frustration that people globally were feeling during the pandemic. Although positivity, inner strength and resilience are usually found as an underlying theme in my lyrics, I couldn't help but try to express the anger and helplessness that everyone was feeling. Politicians and all those people who have everyone's lives in their hands, the ones calling all the shots, ... The lyrics on this album are talking to them."
