In June 2008 they participate in the Sweden Rock Festival , and in January 2009 the third Paris Metal France Festival . A new album, 21st Century Love Channel , was released January 5, 2009, on the occasion of this festival

Album:

SHAKIN’ STREET, for the first time on CD and finely remastered by Rock Candy Records. Although self-titled, some LP copies came with ‘Solid as a Rock’ (one of the song titles) stickered on front sleeve.Fronted by expressive female vocalist Fabienne Shine and with skilled guitarist ‘Ross The Boss’ Friedman joining the band for this recording, “Shakin’ Street” rocks with that early ’80s feel courtesy of Sandy Pearlman (Aldo Nova, Blue Öyster Cült) production.Recorded in San Francisco and issued in 1980, the album is a blistering example of red-hot guitar driven hard rock with a rebel, ‘I don’t care’ attitude. As the hostest with the mostest, Shakin’ Street’s Fabienne Shine’s rock credentials were impeccable. During much of the early ’70s she was the consort of Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, travelling with and directly immersed in all their sweeping grandeur. It was this baptism by fire and, later, the encouragement of both Page and Robert Plant to write songs that fueled her creative aspirations, setting in motion the path to forming her own band, namely Shakin’ Street.Of French-American origin, Fabienne’s musical aspirations were further enhanced by guitarist Eric Levi who was piecing together a band in Paris. Eric had first thought about inviting the then unknown Pretenders star Chrissie Hynde to front the band before Fabienne made herself known.Named after an MC5 song from the album Back In The USA , they scored a small record deal with CBS in France and cut their debut album Vampire Rock , released in 1978.Sensing that the band needed an international boost Fabienne engineered a meeting with Blue Öyster Cult svengali Sandy Pearlman. Pearlman took the band under his wing, renegotiated their CBS deal in the USA, enlisted former Dictators guitarist Ross The Boss into the line-up and produced this self titled second album.Rock Candy Records’ Andy Pearce did a great job in restoring obtaining a high quality crisp sound which has still retained the raw mix of both punkish and Classic Rock guitar that ‘The Boss’ brought to the band. Fabbiene Shine’s vocals are a perfect match to go with The Boss’ riffs and the whole thing is wrapped up by a really tight rhythm section. As was the case with many albums of the time this is short and sweet at just over 35 minutes but it is well worth of anyone’s money.

Album:

'Psychic' isn't a bad little album and doesn't lag that far behind their expensive major label album of yesteryear. If you've never heard of Shakin' Street before it may be helpful to jump to the re-issues section and read about their self-titled second release from back in 1980, then come back here to see what the reformed French outfit are up to now. The band were out of operation for over twenty years, regrouping in 2004 to play some festival shows and issuing a live CD, a DVD and in 2009 a brand new studio album called '21st Century Love Channel'. The original reformation was with four of the five best known members, but here just singer Fabienne Shine, ex-Manowar guitarist Ross The Boss and drummer Jean-Lou Kalinowski remain and are joined by new bassist Fred Guillemet and guitarists Philippe Kalfon and Olivier Spitzer. This website uses cookies to help us give you the best experience when you visit. Cookies used for the essential operation of the site have already been set. By continuing to browse the site you are agreeing to our use of cookies. To find out more about the cookies we use and how to delete them, see our Privacy Statement.Musically the only thing that's changed is they've lost the Punk influence they had on some songs and the triple guitar situation means denser riffs and more room for The Boss to solo. The album is well recorded with a satisfyingly chunky sound on straight upbeat Rockers 'Got A Date With My Man', 'Dirty Rat' and the slow groove of opener 'Bad Girl'.Lyrically there will always be some oddities when this gal is involved, the bizarre 'Dying For A Snack' and the Iggy Pop-like almost spoken delivery of 'Kinky Sex' being cases in point, whilst the otherwise odd 'Mount Sinai' Rocks pretty well and has a good guitar solo. Towards the end things get a little more adventurous and varied with the Pop overtones of 'Coast Of Paradise' and 'Walk Of Fame', but it's the Bluesy 'It's Too Late' and the unusually moody 'Break My Toys' that score the highest and show Shine's unique voice in its best, strongly accented light.'Psychic' isn't a bad little album and doesn't lag that far behind their expensive major label album of yesteryear. If you liked them back then chances are you still will.

Album:

The Old Waldorf was recorded in August 1979. The band were trying out material that they would record a few months later at the Automatt sessions with Sandy Pearlman for their official second album, Shakin’ Street. They were opening for the Jim Carroll Band and the show was captured by KALX radio deejay and producer Terry Hammer. The lineup of Shakin’ Street that recorded this live album was Fabienne Shine with Ross "The Boss" Friedman on lead guitar, Eric Lévi on rhythm guitar, Mick Winter on bass and Jean-Lou Kalinowsky on drums. Ross “The Boss” Friedman, a founding member of the Dictators, and later, Manowar had replaced the original lead guitarist.Shakin’ Street’s high-energy set featured four songs from their debut, seven songs from their then-upcoming second album (all by Shine and Lévi), and two songs that aren’t documented on any officially sanctioned release: the original Scarlet and a cover of The Stooges’ I Wanna Be Your Dog.In 1980, Shakin’ Street embarked on “The Black and Blue Tour” as openers for the Ronnie James Dio lineup of Black Sabbath, alongside Blue Öyster Cult.Latest from a 2024 interview with Fabienne Shine "I’m back in the studio with Shakin’ Street recording a new album. We are recording a song which Sandy wrote for me. I am flying from my home in California to Queens, NY, to work on the record with Ross "The Boss.""
