Bio:

Reckless Love is a Finnish melodic glam metal band, founded 2001 in Kuopio, Finland. On February 2010, they released their eponymous debut album, which reached number 13 in the Finnish charts. The band started their career with the name Reckless Life, under which they initially played covers of Guns N' Roses. Having had no success with this approach, they began to write their own songs, and finally won the Kuopio Band Competition in 2004.As part of the Kuopio Popcity Project 2005, Reckless Love, along with Rainbow Crash, Svat and Sideshow Zombies went on a Scandinavian tour, visiting Sweden, Norway and Denmark.2007 saw Olli Herman (also known as H. Olliver Twisted) cover as the singer for the Swedish hair metal band Crashdïet, as their singer (Dave Lepard) committed suicide in January 2006. One and a half years later, Olli Herman returns to Reckless Love. In January 2009, the website of Reckless Love announced that drummer Mike Harley would leave the band. Hardly a week later a replacement was found: Hessu Maxx. The musical style of the band had undergone a major change over the years and, finally, on 23 April 2009, a record deal with Universal Music was made. In July 2009, Reckless Love released their first single, One More Time. In August, they reached number 2 in the 'YleX' radio station's charts in Finland. The second single, Beautiful Bomb, released on 15 October 2009, reached 4th. The band also shot a music video for this single, which premiered on MTV in December 2009. On 20 February 2010 the third single and second music video, Romance, was released. Four days later the debut album, Reckless Love, was released. This album was available in the Baltic States, Belgium and the UK, as well as in Finland. The Japanese version was released in July 2010. A release into the German and Swedish markets is still under discussion. The album debuted at number 13 in Finland's official charts. The band released their follow-up album, Animal Attraction, On October 5, 2011. The first single "Hot" was released on April 18, 2011 and the single "Animal Attraction" was released on September 12, 2011.The Animal Attraction Tour kicked off on October 7, 2011 The video for "On The Radio", which is the tenth track of their 'Animal Attraction' album, was filmed in Los Angeles, California. As of the 26th of April, 2013, Reckless Love's new single, "Night On Fire" is available to purchase and download, and there is a music video to support the song. Their latest album, called Spirit, will be available on September 2nd 2013 .

Album:

Finland’s RECKLESS LOVE exists for 8-9 years now, but this is their first full-length CD. The name and the cover artwork hide no secrets, right? The band deals with the hard/glam Rock/Metal side of music and what you’re going to listen in this 10-track release is polished yet sharp melodies riffs with not much new to say but definitely armoured with enough of a party mood.Singer Olli was the replacement for Dave Lepard (committed suicide) in CRASHDIET and sung as H. Olliver Twisted in the influential NWOSGM band’s “The Unattractive Revolution” album in 2007. His distinct voice is a key factor in RECKELSS LOVE, too, since he focuses a lot in harmonies and melodies while he also pours some glam lumps here and there to justify the band’s diverse influence. Speaking of which: KISS, VAN HALEN, WARRANT, HANOI ROCKS and RATT are draft examples coming to mind, both in term of writing songs and guitar approach, to say the least. To be honest, I liked better the more moody songs this CD offers (like e.g. “Romance” and “Wild Touch”) where the guitar riffs shine, but the more Rock ‘n’ Roll ones are quite interesting too. Interesting? Well, let’s say ‘entertaining’ to be more precise regarding the CD’s general vibe.As the album spins more and more I can come up with two extra comments: the sound of the band is a big bonus since it’s fat and clear, owing a lot to the Scandinavian trademark Hard Rock principals, but also is smartly based on the American ‘party Rock’ arena recipe. Mixed with the band’s multi-influence basis, the result is worth listening to if you’re a fan of the aforementioned bands or the likes of e.g. CRAZY LIXX or CRASDIET.Don’t need to exaggerate no more: you can live without “Reckless Love” but you can also spend good time with it. “In the hair metal school tables turn and RECKLESS LOVE are the teachers. And the class will only be dismissed once thoroughly entertained” reads a quote in the Swedish band’s website. OK, quite some over-the-top saying but precise referring to the cruel intentions of these spray-clad outlaws.

Album:

Among the original eleven album songs, “Cool Edition” features five bonus tracks, including ‘Get Electric’, acoustic versions of ‘Back To Paradise’, ‘Sex’ and Def Leppard’s Hysteria cover, plus ‘Back To Paradise Re-mix’.Just in case you've been hiding out in a remote cave for the past couple of years ... melodic rock is back! For a while now classic acts have been cleaning up at the box office with sell out shows (both here and in the US), and smoking new releases from the likes of Whitesnake, Foreigner and Treat (to name but three) has advocated a resurgence of interest in a genre most would have you believe was dead. Great as it is to see all the old guard making a comeback however, the lifeblood of any sustainable scene has to be the emergence of new bands. Over the past twelve months two of the most notable names to ingratiate themselves into the collective consciousness have been those of Houston and Reckless Love.Ostensibly a duo (drummer Freddie Allen and vocalist Hampus "Hank" Erik), Stockholm based Houston first started to make waves last summer, their self titled full length debut eventually emerging through Rocket Songs in the fall. The pair were initially brought together by local promoter Dave Laroxx with the express intention of "making a really good Swedish record". Now I don't know about you, whenever I see statements like that the ol' bullshit detector kicks into gear, but given all the plaudits heaped upon said debut on its release (Classic Rock voted in the number one AOR release of 2010!) for once it actually held water.Cut from the same cloth as bands like Survivor, Journey, Foreigner and Giant the Houston sound is firmly entrenched in classic American AOR (flavoured with some Westcoast and a good dollop of Scandie), and what's more it was delivered with the same kind of style and panache. Helped in the studio by an impressive cast of players (Tommy Denander, Mats Olausson and Thomas Vikstrom amongst others), and bolstered by the proven production skills of Westcoast/AOR guru Ricky Delin, hook laden tracks like 'Give Me Back My Heart', 'Pride', 'Hold On' or She's A Mystery' provide a glorious nostalgia trip back to the heyday of AOR, yet still manage to sound fresh and verdant. Now available as a domestic release here in the UK, 'Houston' has been repackaged with new artwork and a couple of tasty bonus tracks – 'Under Your Skin' is a slick, mid tempo number with a flighty flamenco feel, whilst the more upbeat 'Chasing The Dream' has a bouncy sense of urgency. The production quality of both tracks isn't quite as polished as the rest of the album, but they're both worthy additions for Houston collectors.'High school drop outs made good' sounds like the plot for some clichéd Hollywood musical, but in a way it kinda fits glamsters Reckless Love to a tee. Originally from Kuopio in the Finnish province of Northern Savonia, the four piece has been together as a band in one form or another since 2001, but its only more recently (and after relocating to Helsinki) that the current line up gelled. Quite apart from the fact that he looks like the bastard offspring of David Lee Roth and Vince Neil, fans of CrashDiet will probably recognise front man Olli Herman (aka Oliver Twisted) as the voice on 2007's 'The Unattractive Revolution' opus. This website uses cookies to help us give you the best experience when you visit. Cookies used for the essential operation of the site have already been set. By continuing to browse the site you are agreeing to our use of cookies. To find out more about the cookies we use and how to delete them, see our Privacy Statement.Sporting an image that screams 80's glam metal and a raucous, guitar driven sound, Reckless Love are probably Finland's best answer yet to Sweden's Crazy Lixx. Imagine if you will an amphetamine fuelled mixture of Treat, Poison, Wig Wam, Motley Crue, CrashDiet and Brother Firetribe, and if it survived into adulthood chances are it would look and sound exactly like Reckless Love. Granted, they ain't doing anything radically different to countless bands on The Strip 25 years ago, but when you factor in a whole new generation who've never really seen or heard anything like this before; then to all intents and purposes they could be the new messiahs.Bombastic, joyous and for the most part well over the top; their brand of big guitar driven party rock is all about forgetting life's woes for a couple of hours and having fun! As for the hooks and melodies, yes there are obvious glam overtones throughout, but just a phrase here or the odd chorus there and you find yourself squarely in prime time Scandie AOR territory – I kid you not! If you find that hard to swallow then just check out the likes of 'Romance', 'Love Machine', the sultry 'Sex' (odd title for a smouldering AOR ballad that sounds like Def Leppard, but hey ... it works!) 'Feel My Heat' or 'Wild Touch' and you'll see what I mean.Originally released last spring, the album has now been repackaged, expanded and reissued as the appropriately titled 'Reckless Love – Cool Edition'. In addition to the revamped artwork, there's also an extra five bonus tracks. These comprise two alternate versions of 'Back To Paradise' (one remix, one acoustic), acoustic versions of 'Sex' and 'Hysteria' (yes, that one!), and the punk laced anthem 'Get Electric' – I was particularly impressed with the Leppard cover because even though it stayed pretty close to the original, it managed to capture the essence of the song without sounding at all contrived.Consensus was that both were great albums at the time of release, and that still holds true.Whether they're worth shelling out for again if you have the original has to be your choice, but if you passed first time, now is definitely the moment to jump in!

Album:

Reckless Love exploded onto the melodic rock scene last year and their brand of infectious commercial party rock made them instant favourites with fans! With a sleazy image and huge hair, you’d be forgiven for thinking these guys had just walked of a stage on LA’s sunset strip circa 1986, but believe it or not these guys hail from Finland!I don’t think Animal Attraction is as good as the debut overall but there ain’t no denying these guys know how to write a killer commercial party rock tune. Although their image implies their sound would be sleazier, what you actually get is Def Leppard and Bon Jovi inspired stadium rock, with huge radio friendly sing-along choruses. It’s all highly polished stuff with hooks aplenty and a lush sound which should cross them over into mainstream circles. Although I can’t see them ever hitting the heights of Bon Jovi given a lot of their saucy (I can’t believe I just used that word!) lyrics and tongue in cheek attitude.Musically these guys create awesome hook filled songs which are infectious but the thing that lets them down to me is their lyrics which are quite possibly the worst I’ve ever heard, absolutely diabolical! I think the awful lyrics do drag the band down and along with their image could lead people to think they are a gimmick or parody band which is a true shame cause there is some damn fine musicianship shown on the album and their ability to write a killer melody is second to none.Opener “Animal Attraction” is a driving rocker with an anthemic stadium rock chorus ala Def Leppard. “Speedin” is a guitar driven rocker, but it’s a bit limp and really didn’t grab me at all. “Born To Break Your Heart” is the first real stand out track, infectious, hook ridden and ridiculously catchy as hell! It has some wonderful vocal melodies and guitar licks and a top notch sing-along chorus. This song shows the band at its best, although the lyrics are truly awful.“Hot” is radio friendly gold, it’s instant and a fabulous up tempo rocker with a feel good factor of 10 (or 11 if your dials go that high). I’m sure this song will fill rock dance floors worldwide! It’s the sort of song everyone loves but refuses to admit it though! “Fantasy” is a mid-tempo ballad inspired by Def Leppard; the guitars on this one are just beautiful. A huge lush harmony overloaded chorus is instant ear candy! “Dirty Dreams” has beyond dreadful lyrics but musically it’s catchy as hell and we’re treated to another lush chorus filled with killer backing vocals and harmonies.“Dance” is an obvious dance floor filler which is very commercial with its smooth anthemic chorus. “Fight” is a heavier guitar driven rocker which aims to have a shout it out loud chorus, but it just doesn’t have the hooks and falls short of hitting the mark. “Switchblade Babe” is a mid-tempo rocker with a bit of swagger to it, but it is totally forgettable.“On The Radio” is anthemic stadium rock with a lush sing-along chorus and is perfect summertime radio gold. “Coconuts” is in a word – shite! Uninspired and boring! If you like party rock with anthemic stadium rock choruses this is for you. This is just pure FUN and you know these guys will kick some ass live, I’m hoping to catch the band at this year’s Hard Rock Hell Festival so here’s hoping I’m right! For me though these songs will get old very quick as it’s a very throwaway collection of songs. I doubt after a few months I’ll return to it, but if you’re looking for something perfect to dance to which you can just shut your brain down too and rock look no further!

Album:

It feels a lot longer than February, 2010, when Finnish Glam rockers Reckless Love injected their self-titled debut into our record stores. And just like any other band, with its sheer success comes the threat of ‘second album syndrome’ facing the band’s eagerly awaited sophomore release, Animal Attraction. While still retaining those Van Halen hooks, Reckless Love proves this time around that they’ve matured in sound and it’s evident from the word go. Making for the perfect opener, the title track “Animal Attraction” reincarnates Def Leppard for a brand new generation — containing sugary melodic riffs, its a recipe that’ll satisfy any rock and roll sweet tooth. The album’s second track does exactly what it says on the tin, bursting straight into energetic and super charged ‘speedin’, which gives off harmonious vocal influences in the form of CrashDiet — a Swedish glam rock band that sadly lost their front man Dave Lepard in 2006, whom Reckless Love singer Olli Herman briefly replaced. Making for a perfect opener, this track is bursting at the seams with energy that’ll make you go ‘awwyeeeeahhhh’ outta nowhere. The album slips prematurely into the slower, and oh so melodic, “Fantasy”, but that’s nothing compared to the surprises on offer with the livelier “Dance” and “On The Radio”, both oozing Eurovision pop-style riffs accompanied by squealing, melodic guitar solos — these tracks clearly back up the sleazy rockers proof of a one way ticket, to a whole new sound.Reckless Love continue to take their experimental efforts to the next level in the cringe-worthy “Coconuts”, which coincidentally contains a Gwen Stefani moment within its lyrical structure, not intentional of course, but very different to anything we’ve heard from the Finnish pretties before. Songs like “Fight” and “Young ‘N’ Crazy” contain screaming raw-like harmonies that soar sweet and sleazy. The four-piece get away with this by quickly restoring those party rock vibes, through the use of gang vocals, which almost takes us back in time, revisiting tracks from last year’s debut — this is the musical answer to a cock tease for sure.Overall, Animal Attraction brings a refreshing balance to the recently revived cock-rock sound set by bands like Steel Panther. Reckless Love challenges all expectations of listeners this time round, by stretching musical boundaries and defying any hegemonic hopes of regurgitating 2010’s debut. If you’re a CrashDiet fan you’ll no doubt fall to your knees and worship at the feet of Animal Attraction, with influences bursting at the seams. But unfortunately, what sells well across Europe might not sell as well in countries like the US and UK where that sound isn’t as appreciated — and sadly, this is where Reckless Love could fail to make their mark this time around.

Album:

For many, eighties rock bands were either shameless purveyors of joyfully uplifting party anthems or hairspray soaked, spandex wearing lady boys with as much musical depth as Darth Cowell's record collection.Either way, the nineties dawned and the world became serious. The global recession, AIDS and the arrival of grunge significantly changed the musical map, rendering debauched glam metal acts outdated and tasteless. Since then 'hair metal' has thrived in a cult capacity, gaining momentum over the last decade as bands inspired by Motley Crue and their ilk have spread like fire gone wild. Finnish four piece Reckless Love are on a particular mission to resurrect the hedonistic traditions of Los Angeles infamous Sunset Strip, delivering stiletto sharp riffs, bombastic choruses and lascivious lyrics with minimum subtlety. It's as cheesy as Mr McCheese's cheese making factory in cheese land, but also a nice reminder of a carefree time when life wasn't quite so po-faced.ImageWhereas Steel Panther and The Darkness are tongue in cheek, Reckless Love eat, sleep and breathe anachronistic party rock. The quartet, led by vocalist and peroxide pretty boy Olli Herman, began life as a Guns N' Roses cover band, releasing their self titled début album in 2010. Whilst a wonderful recreation of stadium rock's glory days – huge melodies and Van Halen esque guitar pyrotechnics - it wasn't particularly original. Last year's follow up 'Animal Attraction' contained some excellently crafted AOR melodies, but overall felt less energised and like the guys were treading water. This mini-album coincides with Reckless Love's current tour of the UK and contains live tracks, acoustic cuts and an unreleased outtake from the 'Animal Attraction' sessions. Explaining the rather predictable reason for this release Olli Hermann says “As old school '80's metal fans, we wanted to put together something we were dying to get from our own idols, in the fashion of Guns N'Roses 'Lies'”.As far as hook laden pop rock goes this is mostly great stuff. Although the band actively encourage Guns N' Roses comparisons they're much closer to the contagious stadium friendly anthems of Def Leppard and Poison than the dangerous attitudinal sleaze of Axl and co. The title track - 'Born To Break Your Heart' - has been spruced up and remixed by Tim Palmer, bringing a larger sound to a smooth as ice slice of immaculate drive time rock. The excellent AA outtake – 'Push' - continues that formula, masking a typically awful lyric with a wonderfully infectious refrain that's got eighties rock radio stamped all over it. The live songs are well executed, 'Beautiful Bomb' being a syrupy piece of power pop, 'Hot' a sun baked beach bash for horny frat boys and cosmetically enhanced bimbettes, and 'On The Radio' nicking 'You Give Love A Bad Name's prowling riff to create an expertly crafted nugget of melodic rock gold. However, the 'live' backing vocals are so perfect it's obvious they're using tapes, adding fuel to the the 'style over substance' criticisms that have been thrown at them. The acoustic tracks work surprisingly well considering the amps are off, played with a fun loving rowdy barroom feel. But the cover of Thin Lizzy's 'Boys Are Back In Town' is shocking. The song doesn't work acoustically and Olli struggles to get his lips around Lynott's lyrics, draining the street smart cool from them in the process. And the background monkey noises from the other band members doesn't help either. As long as you disengage your cerebral hemispheres and enjoy uncomplicated party anthems this is catchy stuff that's destined for guilty pleasure status. However, comparisons with Guns N' Roses 'Lies' are ludicrous. That was a collection of bad ass rock and roll featuring blistering cover versions and awesome new tracks. This is slick, dumb as they come pop metal with lyrics so appallingly vacuous and juvenile Axl was probably writing better in the womb. That doesn't make it a bad thing. It's feelgood music for people who enjoy escapism, well crafted and played with fitting panache. It ain't big, it sure as hell ain't clever – but it's still an absolute blast for those who wish Kurt Cobain had remained a Kiss fan.Track 5 "Push" is an outtake from the album "Animal Attraction", this track has also been released as a bonus track on the Japan Edition of "Animal Attraction" (instead of "Young 'N' Crazy" for the UK release).

Album:

Finnish melodic rockers RECKLESS LOVE are working in a new album right now, meanwhile one of yous asked for their album “Spirit” with its extra tracks. The band has a headquarter based in Great Britain as well, and the band’s label subsidiary at the islands released “Spirit” including an exclusive bonus track for all the loyal UK fans.As extra we have here as well the standalone single ‘Night On Fire [bombastic edit]’ not available anymore. To the 11-track of the regular release, the UK CD version adds the exclusive extra track “Die Hard”, a flamboyant rocker driven by a contagious riff, gang backing vocals and a sharp solo recalling the early Reckless Love style (and mid-Eighties Motley Crue).Anyone can get the ’80ss look down if they try hard enough, but not many can write and play fine songs in this hard rock, melodic style. Reckless Love have nailed it for the most part in “Spirit”.Opening with lead single “Night On Fire” is a statement of intent. Blending some hypnotic, voodoo drums and turning some almost tribal chants into archetypal Eighties ‘whoa, whoa’ is just going to grab you.“Bad Lovin´” follows with more of those hit making tricks from the time when rock ruled the airwaves (‘na, na, na’ this time) and, yep, you’ve guessed it, it’s all about sex, in the Sunset Strip circa ’88 style.Track three sees Olli Herman make the claim “I Love Heavy Metal”. Here Reckless Love turf out a Tuff sounding classic for an all new generation of Finnish Hairband fans while name checking some classic acts along the way. It’s a cool melodic hard rocker recalling Warrant in its prime, with a very nice melody and one of my favorites on the disc.“Favorite Flavor” follows the theme – upbeat, joyous and with a pop-metal chorus as signature. The midtempo “Edge Of Our Dreams” adds some modernity to the album, but I prefer when Reckless Love push the pedal with sharp riffs, and this is not the case here. For example, next track “Sex, Drugs & Reckless Love” is a marching rocker driven by bouncy rhythms and harmonies, a simple song, but this is what you want to hear from this band, and they do it truly well.“Dying To Live” is a clean (guitars and rhythm section) rock song, again a bit modern, yet really effective. On “Metal Ass” they go for a fast, anthemic metallic tune which I like a lot, then “Runaway Love” is a fine melodic rocker with a contagious chorus.“So Happy I Could Die” is another fav of mine, one of these type of songs build for the arenas. Huge guitars, massive backing vocals and that ‘spirit’ which Reckless Love is searching for.The regular album ends with the only proper ballad; “Hot Rain”, a tale of heartbreak & loss well constructed, arranged and orchestrated faithful to the Eighties power ballad mould. With this album Reckless Love wanted to recapture the ’80s ‘Spirit’ with some really catchy tunes, the right attitude and excellent production. You have into the mix a couple of modern melodic hard tracks as well.A a solid, fun and enjoyable recording with a Sunset Strip atmosphere all over, spiced with a new wave of Scandinavian melodic hard rock styling.

Finnish sleaze rockers Reckless Love return with their fifth studio album "Turborider"! Following a 4-year hiatus and just recently receiving gold awards for their first three albums in Finland, singer Olli Herman and his band are now gearing up for their next move. "Turborider" is high-energy, synth-wave-infused rock with an undeniable 80s touch. Fun? Check! Uplifting? Check! "Turborider" will make you forget the world around you and its infectious hooks will make you sing along all day. It’s been four long years since Finnish sleaze rockers Reckless Love released ‘InVader’ (check out our interview with Olli about that album here) and on February 25th they return with their fifth studio album ‘Turborider’. Since that last album Reckless Love has received gold awards for their first three albums in Finland, and played places like Australia for the first time (one of the last international bands some of us saw before Australia closed its borders). If you want to see a band deliver and ‘own’ a room I suggest you check them out live at the first possible opportunity.Reckless Love’s career has been one we’ve followed very closely at The Rockpit and from that very first album in 2010 we’ve caught up with the band with every release (not to mention this writer has also been religiously collecting their promo singles from the last decade) they’re a band of course that ticks all teh boxes – a blistering live show, huge charisma and a sound that manages that impossible task of capturing the best of Van Halen, 80’s Sunset Strip Rock and threading in a host of modern dance and synth wave sounds. It’s something that you might not think will work , but it does… beautifully. Add to that mix great riffs, infectious hooks and songs made to sing along to and you have a band that is simply unmissable. So after a series of albums that have got progressively more synth infused over time this time out we are promised “High-energy, synth wave-infused rock with an undeniable 80’s touch. Fun? Check! Uplifting? Check! ‚Turborider‘ will make you forget the world around you and its infectious hooks will make you sing along all day.” Now that sounds just the thing we need in these troubled times. There’s also a nice retro gaming twist: “At the center of the sounds are 80s themes and the modern dark-speaking world of synth wave. The band dived deep into to the game world and the movie moods of the genre and era.”It’s time to dive in…Opening with the title track (and latest single) ‘Turborider’ which opens up with synths that are quickly dispatched by cutting metallic guitar, we’re delivered the perfect storm of hard edged rock, cruel beats and uplifting choruses that just sweep you up. It’s high energy, retro, shot through with computerized voices and has a sizzling solo. There’s no doubt about it Reckless Love is back and they look like they’re lost none of their fire and not lost a beat.‘Eyes of a Maniac’ that follows is underlined with a bubbling synth and understated verse before a lush melodic chorus washes in on the back of a guitar, it’s one of the Poppiest songs here and an immediate contrast that might come as a surprise to newer listeners, whilst it may be different there is however a sumptuous solo to guide it along. It’s a song sandwiched between the other two singles as ‘Outrun’ and it’s blue summer sky rock kicks in next.‘Kids of the Arcade’ is where all those retro flavors come together in a dayglo dream. First it adds a tight verse before the melody kick in a pre-chorus before the refrain rocks you gently in a Neon Glow. It’s a mid-tempo number that almost eschews hard rock until the solo kicks in. It’s one of those songs that if you’ve seen the band live you can imagine will take on a whole new life cranked up a notch or two.The biggest surprise and riskiest move though is the next track ‘Bark at the Moon’ – yes it is THAT ‘Bark at the Moon’ but here its reimagined with hi hat prominent as well as a shuffling synth. It will be really interesting how this one will go down with Pepe nailing the iconic Jake E Lee guitar work and Olli of course far surpassing Ozzy vocally (never been a fan of OO’s voice). If you look at it from the band’s point of view its a great reference point that lays out what the band is trying to achieve her on ‘Turborider’ – that amalgam of the old and the new. Maybe if it was an Aerosmith song they’d chosen to refurbish I wouldn’t feel quite the same but for me it works. My pet hate ‘the prelude’ – in this case 0.48 seconds of ‘Prelude (Flight Of The Cobra)’ is up next – it’s essentially a noodling guitar intro to ‘Like A Cobra’ a synth led mid-tempo pop rocker that at first didn’t grab me but it’s one of those that grows in stature with each listen. There’s a more Blue Sky feel-good vibe to ‘For The Love Of Good Times’ one of the catchiest songs here and one that will certainly test that dance floor, like a modern day AOR outing is strangely addictive. One of my favourites leads the runs out – ”89 Sparkle’ has a real touch of vintage Reckless Love even if it does push the pop dial a little further than the guys have gone before; it’s a party song made for hot summer nights and ‘Future Lover Boy’ that follows keeps that thought and ups the beat, it’s another hot summer dance-along. The final word goes to ‘Prodigal Sons’ – maybe a title that gives a nod to how this album might go down with Rock fans? Its harder and edgier than anything else here and does make you wonder what the rest of the album would have sounded like with a spoon of this attitude. At the moment it might even be my pick of the bunch – it’s certainly an anthemic closer. If you loved InVader you’ll love this. If you hanker after that sleazier sound then you might be torn. This is certainly a record that I feel will divide opinion. The real test for me will be how they treat this wonderful new material live.
