Country : United States
Audio : 320 kbps + front + Video
Size : 139 mb

Bio:

ARRIVAL was an original five-piece Melodic Rock / AOR band formed on Long Island, New York, in 1992. Their sound harkened back to the glory days of '80s Arena Rock, with soaring vocals, sharp guitars, lots of keyboards and big choruses.Arrival recorded a lot of songs between 1992-93, but with grunge taking the music world by storm and destroying everything related to melody, all their material sat idle for more than two decades... until now.Featuring Warren Passaro (lead vocals), Laz Novak (guitar), Steve Gerraputa (bass, vocals), Craig Higgins (keyboards, vocals) and Johnny Rizzo (drums), Arrival spent the early '90s playing the Long Island / New York club and venue circuit opening for such acts as Zebra, Joe Lynn Turner and Badfinger, among others.During 1992 and 1993, the guys recorded twelve original songs in the do-it-yourself manner that was part of the home recording boom. These recordings were actually pretty good considering the gear, experience (or lack thereof) and sonic limitations of the recording environments available (in other words, bedrooms, basements and attics, with guitar amps stuffed in closets... you get the idea!Arrival printed up demo cassettes at that time, featuring only half of the songs they eventually recorded using them to get bookings and hand out at shows. As technology advanced, and opportunities opened up for independent artists to get their music released and heard, it was high time for Arrival to join the party.Melodic Rock / AOR has continued to reach its fan core in spite of trends, and Arrival decided to release their stuff for all the fans of the genre to enjoy. The twelve songs on this album represent the band's entire recorded output between '92-'93.And let me tell you something; if you are fan of classic Journey, Foreigner, Kansas, Surrender, Survivor and other Melodic Rock torchbearers, you will fall in love with Arrival. This is pure AOR / Melodic Rock with a definitive Eighties sound & feel (check the video snippet). All these tunes were recorded in the early nineties, but sound as taped in 1983. I mean, even the guy's look, haircut, clothes, are absolutely '80s!The immediate and most recognizable style over these wonderful 12 tracks is Journey 1981-84 period. I can hear a touch of melodious progressive textures akin Kansas and Zebra as well on some compostions, adding even more appeal. The melodies, the vocal harmonies, the crunchy guitar riffs supplied by Laz Novak, the keyboard swirls and the heavenly choruses are to die for, and technically this material is fabulous, with an output sound and mix much better than many today's releases. To those who still love Journey at their best era, and everything what would be coined as AOR / Arena Rock / radio friendly Melodic Rock, "ARRIVAL" is a true delight.

Arrival was an original five-piece melodic rock band formed on Long Island, New York, in 1992.With grunge taking the music world by storm at that time, Arrival was in many ways a new band swimming against a stylistic tide. Their sound still harkened back to the glory days of ’70s and ’80s Arena Rock, with soaring vocals, big choruses and a nod to Progressive Rock instrumental textures.Recorded between 1992-1993, this collection of twelve original songs flys in the face of the then burgeoning grunge rock scene. With big choruses, soaring lead vocals and a decidedly melodic hard rock approach, Arrival would not have been out of place in the seventies or eighties musical universe. Fans of Foreigner, Journey, Def Leppard, ELO and Kansas, will appreciate the album’s mix of anthemic rockers and power ballads.

Album:

In the early 1990’s, Arrival (Long Island New York), brought forth the AOR/Arena Rock of the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s – Big harmonies and catchy choruses. It is hard to fathom that an unknown, original band would aspire to write, record, and perform music in a style that was soon to be outmoded. In early 1992, Arrival was such a band. We carried the torches of our melodic rock heroes of the previous two decades: the Journeys, Foreigners, Def Leppards. We loved big harmonies and anthemic choruses. We had high hopes AND a high tenor, damnit!Lead Vocalist, Warren Passaro would be the band’s secret weapon. I had heard Warren on a demo tape of a mutual friend several years before meeting him”, states keyboardist Craig Higgins. In fact, when bassist Steve and our drummer, Johnny Rizzo, heard Warren on that tape, we all thought, “That is the kind of singer we need.” He had the soaring range and excellent intonation we admired in our favorite vocalists. It turns out, he also liked ELO, Styx, Squeeze, and ABBA.Arrival were itching to play live. Steve, Johnny, Warren, and I were recording demos. Thanks to the booming home-studio market, we used a Tascam 488 eight-track recorder and a DAT machine to bring our songs to life. Admittedly, we were indulgently winking and nodding to our influences with songs such as “Like You Do” and “Where Will We Be”. Craig tried his best to perform guitar parts on those songs within limitations, but it became clear that we needed a real guitar player. Enter, Laz Novak (lead guitarist) and the line-up was finalized. Gigs with well-known bands like Zebra, Joe Lynn Turner, and Badfinger would solidify Arrival as a serious local contender that were often called upon as a national support act.So, what about the band name? We knew we’d pad our eventual live set with some cover songs, and with Warren‘s high vocal range, Journey was an obvious choice. We covered “Any Way You Want It” from their Departure album. Did we call ourselves Arrival as a play on words in tribute band fashion? Well, no, not for Journey, at least. I think it was Warren who suggested the name, Arrival, in reference to ABBA‘s album of the same name. Tit-for tat, maybe, but it gave us a secret chuckle just the same.As 1993 came to a close, so did Arrival. So in 2026, nearly 34 years later, we offer you our small contribution to the fold. The Journey-esque/Def Leppard-esque thirteen track album, Last Roll of The Dice, will vibe strongly to the fans of Arena Rock.FnA Records is super-excited to bring you “Last Roll of The Dice”, the album, which is suitable for Rock Fans and AOR fans alike.
