Bio:

MUNARHEIM is founded in 2007 and released, accompanied by praising press comments, a re-release of the second EP (... "and the wind sang) on the former label" Mirkwood Production ". MUNARHEIM is constantly working on new songs, so that in March 2013 in the form of the EP "Liberté" a first taste of the debut album "Nacht und Stürme werden Licht" appearing at the beginning of 2014, among others. on "Radio-Diabolus", the # 82 issue of the magazine "Legacy" and its first live performances. After "Night and Storms Are Light" will be self-produced in February 2014, numerous positive reviews speak for the album's full success. MUNARHEIM is even named "Heroes of Tomorrow" in its May 2014 issue of the "Metal Hammer". After a few performances (including Metalfest Loreley), the second album "Stolzes Wesen Mensch" will be released in May 2015 and further performances (including Darktroll Festival) will follow. Again, the success is not long in coming, so even "Metal Only" can not resist to bring the band a second time to the live interview. MUNARHEIM is currently working on the third album, which is expected to be released in 2018. Fans can look forward to another musical masterpiece, which will have much to offer besides the usual orchestral sounds1n.By 2014, the number of participating musicians is growing, so that the sound of MUNARHEIM can be presented as varied and detailed as live, as on CD. Since 2015, the band welcomes their ninth member and since then trumps with two electric guitars, two acoustic guitars, a bass, two flutes, a drummer and a created for the stage singer. With this convincing live program, MUNARHEIM was not only able to inspire numerous listeners on the newcomer stage of the Metalfest Loreley 2014. MUNARHEIM have also performed successfully at established festivals such as the Dark Troll, Wolfszeit, Metal Frenzy and Dong-Open-Air (u.v.m.). A hitherto highlight of their own band history was the fabulous appearance at the Ragnarök Festival 2017. The meanwhile 9-member band managed to fill the hall at noon at 12 o'clock with a traveling show and to bring it to a party. The lyrics revolve around inner longings, natural romanticism and social criticism. They are inspired by romantic poetry and prose as well as by contemporary themes. The music reflects a mixture of black metal and folk with orchestral coloratura, which does not sink into keyboard carpets, but due to the classic study of the composer always with great attention to detail, passionate, varied and 1: 1 composed for a real orchestra becomes.

Album:

Does this sound familiar, be it in movies, in books and poems, or the drunken versions of a friend about how much he loves one, it's always a very fine line between large and sweeping emotions and plain kitsch that experienced the makes unbearable in the long run. Well, and then there's MUNARHEIM. Called by no less than eight capable musicians, this band has always managed not only to run on the imaginary border between genius and madness with the self-confidence of a wire-rope runner, but even to beat somersaults. Great cinema is clearly in the foreground here, but not at the price of drowning all thoughtfulness and depth in the bombast. Much more can be seen a symbiosis of both, in which one reinforces the other and drives to new heights. "Willens & Frei" is a declaration of love for the best in man: courage, love, freedom, willpower. A call to take things into their own hands and seek their happiness. A call to stand up for what one believes. A call to do things better than those that came before you. If one were to seek a historical counterpart to the spirit of this album, one would probably find it at the beginning of the French Revolution. The basic concept of MUNARHEIM is as firm as ever. And the concept is (again) on.MUNARHEIM embed their musical and perhaps even philosophical concept in a 40-minute concoction of the brand Symphonic Metal, but also with great care. The two learned composer of the band, Sebastian Braun and Pascal pan Schmidt, attach great importance to the orchestral accompaniment, which takes a lion's share of the total work on "Will & free" if you want also considered in isolation completely and can be enjoyed, because: All pieces also work as pure orchestral works. This is also written on the flag, because all "non-metallic" material including music book and everything that belongs to it is also available separately. Nevertheless, or maybe just because of this, the fusion of the two genres works so brilliantly. Everything fits together perfectly, nothing seems too intentional or even put on, on the contrary. The opener "Your Is The Day" sets the pace: A soft, auspicious intro, just a slight breeze is within a short time to a full-blown storm that rips the phone with you and sends you on an unbridled journey into the world of MUNARHEIM. Refrains, accompanied by gentle female choirs lift the listeners over the clouds, while the thunderous sounds of the drums make the air quake. You do not get enough of the disturbing rhythms, without much resistance you can be intoxicated by the music. But it is also quiet, such as "mosaic", a love song proves the beauty of the cosmos. Careful attention is given here over large parts of the overlong song to calming flute tones and gentle strings, driving tones are found here mostly as a contrast and thus seem even more insistent. However, the personal highlight remains "forgiveness", which, in addition to the qualities described above, can also shine in the dramaturgical structure through a change of perspective, vocally implemented through a duet with the lovely Robse by EQUILIBRIUM. This also makes for the generally weaker, albeit highly varied, vocal part of the album at least on this song for a pickup. You notice, the entire album is, as noted at the beginning, frighteningly close to the edge of kitsch, but that bothers? No! For that is what you get commanded, simply too well done, too engaging, too rousing. The whole romance that is transported through the songs on "Willens & Frei" seems so real and so perfect that it could not really be curtailed by any frivolity. What we have here in front of us is a really great album, which qualitatively links up where EQUILIBRIUM stopped with "Sagas" in 2008, before a new path was taken there. Anyone who can get along with great melodies and a theatrical attitude could find their personal Eldorado here and also with the other records from MUNARHEIM (click here and here for review)!
