Bio:
YASMIN HOFER – known as YASI since her first live experience as special guest with Steve Vai. All newspapers recalled the concert as sensational. Steve Vai himself called her a real sparkle.Right away, YASI casted her own band and recorded her first CD “Yasi Sounds Like Vai”. Successful gigs followed, including support shows for Chris Thompson and UFO.Meanwhile she quit school and started to study at a music college in Stuttgart. One year later she got a scholarship for the famous Berklee College of music in Boston where she studied one more year. She had lessons and Masterclasses with Guthrie Govan, Ernie Isle, Bryan Beller, Victor Wooten, John Stowell, Scotty Johnson, Jon Finn and many more.Coming back to Germany she appears as special guest in the successful classic rock band named Helter Skelter. At the moment YASI is working very hard on a new CD with which she is planning a tour through Europe.
Album:
Yasmin "Yasi" Hofer's career is closely linked to guitar grandmaster Steve Vai. At a young age, she was so impressed by the fact that she threw the violin into the corner, and from then on made an effort to curb the electric guitars like an obsessed one. Later she played live on the stage at the Flitzefingergott, before he immortalized her with the track "Cosmic Stars" on the current compilation CD of her favorite Nation label ("She rocks Vol.1").No wonder that Yasi Hofer's second CD "Faith" almost always shows the playful references to Steve Vai. If all this were possible, you could quickly dismantle Yasis's work, but the Ulmer woman manages to make stylistic jumps, swinging back and forth between instrumental rock and bluesy fields. Both works very well. This is, of course, due to the technical brilliance of the 24-year-olds, who cultivate a creamy, great guitar guitar, but also that their singing does not have to hide behind. While songs such as "Cosmic Stars" or "Tender Storm" are the best for the Vai fan base, Bluesrock's freaks with tracks like "Feeling Zany" (with great Stevie Ray Vaughn-like solo) or the heavy modern Southern Blues of "Crossfire " to start something. Ya's core competency, however, continues to be instrumental parrorscripts through the world of fast notes. Vai and Satriani have a nice greeting. Not all songs are alike. The title track creeps too slowly out of its snail shell (exploding then at the end however nevertheless), and overall you have the impression that this second CD will not yet be Yasis masterpiece, even if there is really not much to complain about. There is even more in it and you can look forward to more music from Yasi Hofer.
