Bio:
Steven Siro Vai (born June 6, 1960) is an American guitarist, songwriter, singer, and producer who has sold over 15 million albums. After starting his career as a music transcriptionist for Frank Zappa, he recorded and toured in Zappa's band from 1980 to 1982. He began a solo career in 1983, and has released eight solo albums and won three Grammy Awards.Vai has recorded and toured with Public Image Ltd., Alcatrazz, David Lee Roth, and Whitesnake. He has been a regular touring member of the G3 Concert Tour, which began in 1995. In 1999, he started his own record label, Favored Nations, intending to showcase "artists that have attained the highest performance level on their chosen instruments".
Album:
Sex & Religion is the third studio album by American guitarist Steve Vai, released under the band name "Vai" on July 23, 1993, through Relativity Records. It is known as the first major appearance of Devin Townsend, who performed vocals for the album and went on to fame with Devin Townsend Project and Strapping Young Lad. Townsend also co-wrote the tracks "Pig" and "Just Cartilage", the latter of which was only released as a bonus track in Japan. Vai also co-wrote "In My Dreams with You" with Desmond Child and Roger Greenawalt. For Sex & Religion, Vai wished to put together a band of "monster musicians" which included him, Townsend, drummer and fellow Frank Zappa alumnus Terry Bozzio, and bassist T. M. Stevens. It was originally intended for each musician to contribute ideas and play a large role in the creative process, but Vai ended up micro-managing the whole project, which caused much conflict during the making of the album. As Vai explains,[4] there was heavy expectation to make another album in the style of Passion and Warfare (1990), but he instead made the decision to go in a radically different direction, which confounded many fans and critics. The band split up after the album was finished, and Vai subsequently toured only with Townsend and several session drummers and bassists. As Vai himself sums it up: ”With players like Terry Bozzio, T.M. Stevens and Devin Townsend, in order to have a band there needs to be an unconditional acceptance of everybody else’s contribution. I was not ready for that kind of commitment on my part….those guys are really wonderful musicians, but they have their own personality. When I try to have a band together I'm too much of a control freak. I want things to be done too much of a certain way. I gave them some freedom, but the freedom musicians of this calibre need, I wasn't able to give. Therefore, blame it on me, this project will not come together again.”

Album:
Recorded Live at Club Nokia in Los Angeles on October 12, 2012 Produced by Steve Vai. Good Lord, how does one even review a live concert by guitar virtuoso Steve Vai? The only thing that needs to be said is that on the CD you will hear amazing guitar playing backed by a top-notch band. For the DVD all you need to mention is that you can see and hear amazing guitar playing backed by a top-notch band.Steve Vai is the best electric guitar player on planet earth, and perhaps in the entire universe. His physical performance is riveting, his physical skills are mind-blowing, his compositional talents are other-worldly and his hair is perfect! And his band doesn't miss a note, even when they create a song on the spot, composed by audience members... which they do on this album! Oh, there is also a woman who carries around an electric harp... and she can make the thing cry.The visual aspects are the real winner. The CD is damn fine, mind you, but you need to see this show. You can feel the music when hearing the notes and viewing the performance. The jokes between songs are funnier, the solos more dazzling, the drum solo ---with that crazy looking drummer dude carrying around talking skulls---trust me, you want to see this, not just hear it.Steve Vai lives in a different place than most humans. Stuff goes on in his head and with his hands that might scare the common person. He is not so much a guitarist as he is an amazing musician, composer and performance artist. This concert was recorded on Steve's latest tour, which took up the years 2012 through 2014. The Story of Light Tour featured songs from all over Steve's career and then some. In totality, the tour saw Vai and band perform 253 concerts. The DVD bonus features show the band traveling the world and also includes even more music! There is over three and a half hours of stuff to watch on the bonus disc--probably too much, to be honest... but Vai fanatics will think it may not be enough!“To say that this tour was a powerful life experience would be like saying the sun is hot,” writes Steve Vai in his personal liner notes, penned for Stillness In Motion.Sony Music Entertainment and Legacy Recordings have signed virtuoso guitarist/composer/producer Steve Vai to a new multi-album agreement. This is the first release on the record company. Next up will be an album of new material written by the guitar-god. Suffice it to say that after this tour the man is well-oiled and ready to write! While we wait for the new stuff, however, this show will keep you in awe, wondering how in the hell he can make a simple electric guitar defy the rules of physics!

In 1999, he started his own record label, Favored Nations, intending to showcase "artists that have attained the highest performance level on their chosen instruments".
Album:
Legacy Recordings / Sony Music Entertainment are presenting today June 24 the first-ever release of STEVE VAI's "Modern Primitive" songs and recordings. Based on song sketches and works-in-progress penned and recorded by Vai following the release of Flex-Able, his solo debut album, the music on "Modern Primitive" has been completed by Steve Vai for release as a full album 2016.The material on "Modern Primitive" which was written and partially recorded between 1984 and 1990, features music that ranges from intense to delicate melodic chasms to some truly bizarre masterpieces. Vai actually has recorded many of the guitars now 2016, and the whole production / sound is very modern according to his current setup."So it’s new music" - say Steve Vai "and frankly it’s turning out to be one of my favorite records".Vai's debut Flex-Able was pretty experimental, while his second Passion And Warfare is truly accessible and 'commercial' speaking of instrumental albums."Modern Primitive" is the missing link between these two records. So there's catchy tunes mixed with more virtuoso stuff.Take the track 'Never Forever' as example. Opens with a rapid drum fill, leading into a frenetic bass line and gorgeous, soaring melodies married with crystalline keyboard work. It's unbelievably airy, evoking images of wispy clouds rushing by as the wind gently blows back your hair on an open-air flight. Subdued vocals guide the track’s calming sense, and Vai’s guitar work eventually assumes a vocal type role, imitating the soft croon from the first verse. On the whole, "Modern Primitive" trends toward Passion and Warfare‘s style of songwriting. 'Dark Matter' seventh chords tie link it to Answers, and its melodic leads are a decent match for Erotic Nightmares and The Audience is Listening. Then, 'Upanishads' drinks from the same spiritual pool that intoxicates For the Love of God. The oddball textures of Flex-Able and the inventiveness of Passion & Warfare cohabitate on "Modern Primitive"; to an extent, it’s easy to imagine this album as having been released in 1987. However, it sounds very 2016 due its modern production / mastering. In bridging the aforementioned two records, "Modern Primitive" reveals that there are clear connections between the two, even though, as Vai rightly notes, there is a night-and-day feeling to the transition. Both share an interest in unusual guitar effects, scales and melodies from outside the Western musical tradition, and an affinity for strong foundational guitar riffs. A must for fans of electric guitar.
Alongside the first-ever release of Modern Primitive STEVE VAI is releasing today June 24 a remastered & expanded version of his ground-breaking album "Passion And Warfare" celebrating its 25th Anniversary. Both are being released as a 2CD physical collection while each disc will be available as a separate title as well.In 2016, Steve Vai's "Passion And Warfare" remains one of the most lasting documents of the guitar virtuoso genre. The chicken-pickin’, Van Halen-esque riff of 'The Audience is Listening' and the ‘80s radio rock of 'I Would Love To' clearly place this album in the era of bright spandex and grandiose, hairspray-coated locks. A good half of Passion And Warfare's songs have since become Vai classics, if not calling cards ('For the Love of God', 'The Animal') and all the music packed inside hasn't lost its staying power. In the years between his first solo record and "Passion And Warfare", Vai was a prolific studio and live musician, performing with artists like Alcatrazz, David Lee Roth and Whitesnake. By the time 1990 rolled around, Vai had refined his guitar craft to a degree that demanded a solo career.Written based on a series of dream sequences that Vai had when he was younger, "Passion And Warfare" was all recorded in The Mothership studio at his home in the Hollywood Hills, in which his guitar parts for Whitesnake's 1989 album Slip of the Tongue were also recorded. As such, Whitesnake frontman David Coverdale has small spoken parts on Passion And Warfare. With a sonic approach and bombastic, glossy production typical from late '80s US hard rock "Passion And Warfare" made waves and received a RIAA Gold certification. The melodic, rock-solid tunes caused great impact not only bettween electric guitar aficionados, but also rockers in general. The influence of ‘80s rock and metal has since diminished in Vai’s work (especially in favor of more orchestral compositions), but the legato clean guitar on 'For the Love of God' and 'The Riddle' are still staples of Vai’s sound. "Passion And Warfare is a case where the hits continue to justify their status as such. 'For the Love of God' is every bit the virtuoso staple that it deserves to be. Intensely spiritual (Vai went on a 10-day fast during the writing of the song) and musically astonishing for sure. The funky swagger of 'The Animal' is still a thing to behold in a live setting, while the sketch comedy idea behind 'The Audience is Listening', wherein a young Vai raises hell with a rip-roaring guitar solo during his class show-and-tell, is as cloying as it was in 1990, but in its unabashed joy at the thrill of making one’s way up and down the guitar neck, it remains an essential track about the appeal of shredding. The lesser-known cuts from th album hold up just as well as their famous counterparts. 'Ballerina 12/24', with its glassy Eventide effects, is the shredder’s equivalent of a Bach prelude; both in its demands of dexterity and its refracted guitar effects, it is a brief but compelling case study for the compositional depth of the guitar virtuoso style. It some point, all guitar shredders fall prey to the problem of technicality for technicality’s sake - but "Passion And Warfare" embraces technicality for the sonic enjoyment it provides, not for the ego fires that it stokes. The same can be said of the unusual and appealing chord progressions on 'Sisters', whose sparkling guitar tone Vai would bring back to memorable effect on Alien Love Secrets‘s Jimi Hendrix tribute The Boy from Seattle. The 14 original album tunes on "Passion And Warfare" are joined on the 25th Anniversary Edition by four bonus tracks. The best of these, the sitar-accented 'Lovely Elixir' is anchored by powerful chord strums atop which Vai lays down some appealing guitar lines. The remaining three - 'And We Are One', 'As Above', and 'So Below (Niels Bye Nielsen Orchestration)' - are interesting curiosities. All showcase Vai exploring his guitar technique, and those looking to pull apart the nuances of what Vai does with the guitar would do well to give them a spin.It should come as little surprise that "Passion And Warfare" holds up as well as it does over 25 years later (actually 26 years; the album was released in 1990). The precedent Vai set with the record is one that many virtuoso guitarists, even those responsible for laying the groundwork for the genre, regularly far short of: namely, the importance of the instrumental guitar song as a vocal-independent form.

Steve Vai - Inviolate (2022)
Year : 2022
Style : Instrumental Rock , Hard Rock, Heavy Metal
Country : United States
Audio : 320 kbps + scans
Size : 114 mb
Album:
Over the course of a more than 40-year career, Steve Vai has routinely transformed what would appear to be outrageously impossible into something very, very possible... and still also pretty outrageous. From his days as Frank Zappa's "stunt guitar" player to his more recent expansive and exploratory solo work, Vai has continually challenged notions of traditional guitar playing and composition – and on more than one occasion even reimagined the very instrument itself.Vai's newest and 10th solo album, Inviolate, a nine-song opus that does indeed push the boundaries of instrumental guitar music – this time out, Vai quite literally invented not just a new guitar, but also a new guitar-playing technique. The instrument you see on the album cover? It's 100% real, it's called the Hydra, and actually played on the album's mesmeric opener, "Teeth of the Hydra." But calling the Hydra a mere guitar is selling it way, way, way short. Built in conjunction with the designers at Hoshino and based on a "steampunk motif" idea of Vai's, the Hydra is a beast of an instrument – a one-bodied, two-headstock-ed, three-neck-ed creature that encompasses, among other things: seven- and 12-string guitars; a four-string bass; sympathetic harp strings; half-fretless necks; single-coil, humbucking, piezo and sustainer pickups; floating and hardtail tremolo bridges; phase splitters; and much, much more.

Steve Vai - Vai/Gash (2023)
Year : 2023

Size : 70 mb
Bio:
Steven Siro Vai (born June 6, 1960) is an American guitarist, songwriter, singer, and producer who has sold over 15 million albums. Album:
Vai/Gash is a collaboration album of Steve Vai and Johnny "Gash" Sombretto, recorded in the 90s. The recordings sat on the shelf for 30 years, and they are finally seeing the light of day!Around 1990 Steve immersed himself into riding motorcycles and biker culture. This led him with a desire to record a straight ahead rock album. Through a friend he met Johnny "Gash" Sombretto. Gash was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, who was severely scarred after an accident at the age of 21. Steve and Gash hit it off immediately.Steve got Gash to sing over these biker type songs he wrote, and nothing prepared him for the voice that came out of Gash's mouth. This was the voice he wanted to hear wailing over these slamming rock tracks. Despite Steve's other musical projects at the time, like Sex & Religion, there were always plans to release this record. But if wasn't to be. In September 1998, Steve's phone rang, and John's girlfriend told him that John was in a bike accident and killed. Disheartened, Steve put the entire project on a shelf, and moved on to other projects. After three decades, the album will be out, as a tribute to what would definitely have been one of the greatest lead rock singers.
