ASPEN CREEK is a brand new Westcoast AOR project from Sweden put together by digital creator / Sales Manager Jacob Borgenstierna whose hobby is writing huge melodic rock anthems with an 80's reminisce. This is a project put together by Jacob Borgenstierna featuring Lars Säfsund on lead vocals with special guest appearances by Ole Børud, Michael Ruff, Ash Haynes, Charlie King and Kiralina Salandy. Produced by Jonathan Walenfrid.
Album:
Coming out of nowhere, past year we were pleased by Swedes ASPEN CREEK and ‘Tomorrow Take You Home’, one of the best 2025 debut albums, and easily among the best in the AOR Westcoast genre that year. Now we are presenting in exclusive here the new album by this impressive Swedish combo: “We Chase The Rising Sun“, only released on CD in Japan by specialized label P-Vine.The album features some of the most reputed musicians / singers from the Scandinavian AOR Westcoast scene; Work Of Art’s Lars Säfsund (SWE), Ole Børud (NO), Andreas Aleman (SWE), Lo Van Gorp (Netherlands), Stefan Gunnarsson (SWE), Pelle Ankarberg (SWE) Per Lindvall (SWE), Lars “Larry D” Danielsson (DEN), Tollak Ollestad (Netherlands/US)… just to mention a few of the amazing contributors, alongside the star-studded cast of Swedish session players on this album.“We Chase The Rising Sun” is an absolutely brilliant album, recorded in a way that, we guess, is quite unique these days—that is, the way things used to be done “back in the day.” The songwriting, signed by ASPEN CREEK’s masterminds Jacob Borgenstierna and Jonathan Waldenfrid is stellar. With the addition of fantastic songs provided by Robert Säll & Lars Säfsund originally written for Work Of Art, this album is a complete homerun in our book. The production and arrangements on this album are absolutely brilliant, courtesy of Jonathan Waldenfrid, who also play keyboards. Together, Jonathan and Jacob have created an album that makes “classic AOR WestCoast fans” rejoice. We suppose this is what happens when all the basic tracks are recorded live in the studio with all the musicians in the room at the same time, allowing them to exchange and share their musical language! We are grateful for this; it is highly unusual these days to put in all this effort to record an album the way they used to do in the glory days. The participating vocalists and musicians represent a showcase of the best European West Coast/AOR has to offer: Lars Säfsund, Ole Børud, Andreas Aleman, Stefan Gunnarsson (SWE), Per Lindvall (SWE), and more. Simply the best of the best.Oh… did we mention that some songs include arrangements for a string orchestra recorded live? And that there is an instrumental track—written by Robert Säll and Jonathan Waldenfrid—that makes you groove hard, not to mention the horn arrangement on that song… and the fact that it features Swedish guitar icon Jojje Wadenius (Blood, Sweat & Tears, Steely Dan, Donald Fagen, Luther Vandross, Roberta Flack) on guitar. The entire album is dedicated to Jojje, who so tragically passed away shortly after these recordings.ASPEN CREEK’s ”We Chase The Rising Sun” is one of the most elegant and well rounded album you’ll hear this year…
