Founded in early 2017, this ambitious group from Switzerland has developed its very own style: Melodic Dark Metal. DREAMS IN FRAGMENTS’ profound work showcases the band’s endeavour to compose and perform exigent music. The equally imaginative as soulful foursome, consisting of lead vocalist Seraina Schöpfer, guitarist Chris Geissmann, bassist Jan Thomas and drummer Roger Häfliger, hails from Wangen near Olten, located centrally between Basel, Bern and Zurich.In June 2019, DREAMS IN FRAGMENTS released the critically acclaimed debut album “Reflections of a Nightmare” (Rockshots Records) into the world of heavy and emotional sounds. Seraina‘s natural, pleasantly unaffected voice conjoins with Chris’ rampant growls on “Reflections of a Nightmare”. With this kind of performance, DREAMS IN FRAGMENTS position themselves centrally in the genre competition whilst setting themselves apart by means of the combination of hard guitar riffs and dreamlike orchestrations.After numerous gigs in Switzerland and abroad, during which DREAMS IN FRAGMENTS earned themselves an ever-growing fan following, the second album “When Echoes Fade” (Boersma Records) is going to be released in spring 2021. This second oeuvre proves captivating thanks to its exciting songwriting: fast tracks alternate with dreamy compositions, orchestral instruments merge with electro sounds. Stylistically, the songs tend towards more symphonic soundscapes with high intensity whilst remaining light and playful in supporting Seraina’s leading vocals. Chris contributes more clear vocals without neglecting his growls. The undeniable trademark sound of DREAMS IN FRAGMENTS is at the forefront throughout.

DREAMS IN FRAGMENTS is a Swiss Symphonic Metal band; "Shadows From Afar" is their 4 full-length album.Whenever someone speaks of this genre, any band is compared to the big names like EPICA, NIGHTWISH, DELAIN, SIRENIA. Truth be told, all those bands sound different from each other and DREAMS IN FRAGMENTS don't sound like any of them either.Their sound is deeply rooted in Gothic Metal, especially with the lead vocals provided by Seraina Schopfer, who has a clean, ethereal pitch. Guitarist Christian Geissmann also provides Death growls, which is a nice touch to his riffs that, while nothing mind blowing, are extremely solid and often times catchy.DREAMS IN FRAGMENTS have released a quality, above average Symphonic Metal album - it is heavy, loaded with beautiful keys, and soaring vocals.I think the band could be even better in the future if they expand on their ideas and fill the songs more. I look forward to their future releases.
