Bio:
Voodoo Highway is a freaky quintet founded in March 2010 by Matteo Bizzarri (guitars), Federico Di Marco (vocals) and Filippo Cavallini (bass guitar) featuring Alessandro Duò (keys) and Vincenzo Zairo (drums).Have been indicated as one of the new revelations worldwide and defined as "the new Deep Purple" from such a big name in music as the former Rainbow/Black Sabbath/Gary Moore bassist Craig Gruber is only a small drop in the Ocean of this emergent new sensation of the classic rock scenario...Now known to most for the outrageous stage presence, crashing executions, a style that hovers between Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow and The Darkness and for the now obsolete (but very cool!!) custom of smashing instruments on stage, Voodoo Highway are becoming a cult in their murky underground territory. The Voodoo has already infected Europe, South America, USA and Japan on radio and it's actually blasting Italy with some of the most outrageous and long time no seen concerts ever!As the debut album "Broken Uncle's Inn" has gained tons of good reviews, a fast SOLD-OUT in just four months and an avalanche of nominations on some of the coolest press around including "Classic Rock Magazine", the band has now recorded the follow-up "Showdown", a hot concentrate of hard rock, produced by Dysfunction Productions (John Wetton, Anthony Phillips, Logan Mader...) and featuring the artwork of the well known mastermind Storm Thorgerson (Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Muse, Rainbow. The new album will be out in March 2013 with the deutsch label "Dust On The Tracks Records", via Sony (Europe), RSK (UK), MVD (USA), Universal (Canada), it will shake hard all the brains out there and bring some Voodoo across Europe! In 2015 Voodoo Highway has published a new EP called "Pervert County", a preview for their third forthcoming album called "The Ordeal" that's going to be released in 2017 via Sleaszy Rider Records with a brand new line-up including Massimiliano Sabbadini on Keyboards and Filippo Romeo on guitar along with Filippo Cavallini on bass, Federico Di Marco on vocals and Vincenzo Zairo on drums.
Album:
Voodoo Highway came together in Ferrara, Italy, back in 2010. That same year, the band put out their self-produced debut record, "Broken Uncle's Inn."The album quickly earned considerable praise from critics and fans alike, selling through its entire first pressing and drawing enthusiastic responses from specialized rock and metal publications. Classic Rock Magazine UK went on to name the album's opening track, "Till It Bleeds," as its Track of the Month.Just a few months later, Voodoo Highway headed back into the studio to work on their follow-up,"Showdown," collaborating with production team DysFunction Productions, known for their work with John Wetton and Fear Factory. The record came out in April 2013 via German label Dust On The Tracks Records, and once again received strong reviews and public enthusiasm, selling out its initial pressing within just a few months and ranking among the top-selling releases across several online outlets. Craig Gruber, the former bassist for Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, Gary Moore, and Black Sabbath, went so far as to call the band "the new Deep Purple."The cover art for "Showdown" came courtesy of Storm Thorgerson, the legendary Hipgnosis designer famous for his iconic album artwork for Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and countless others. Voodoo Highway remains the only Italian band to have ever had an album cover designed by the late British artist.Following "Showdown," the band spent considerable time touring throughout Western Europe, continuing through 2014. In 2015, Voodoo Highway recorded and released the EP "Pervert County." The following year, they began working on their third full-length record, "The Ordeal," once again teaming up with DysFunction Productions. That album came out in 2017 through Greek label Sleaszy Rider Records. After a further year of live performances, mostly concentrated in Italy and the Netherlands, the band entered an indefinite hiatus due to personal circumstances.Between 2018 and 2025, Voodoo Highway only performed sporadically, mostly in their hometown. During a 2025 show in Ferrara, the band made the decision to record their first-ever live album, "Made in Kachot," capturing the band in what has always been their true element, the live stage. The record was self-released later that same year. Also in 2025, Voodoo Highway began recording their comeback studio album, "The Satan Inqviesta," at Sonika Studios in Ferrara, once again working alongside producer Eddy Cavazza, also known professionally as Silent Ghost and formerly part of DysFunction Productions.Date of release is 18 September 2026.
