Bio:

Swedish melodic rock band was formed in Stockholm in 1999 by singer Erik Mårtensson. After having produced a 4 track demo himself, he landed a deal with the English located Z records. To produce what was to become the first Eclipse album,he completed the line-up with Magnus Henriksson (Lead Guitar) & Anders Berlin (Drums & Keys). The first album “The Truth & a little more” was completed and released in 2001 on Z records. It also included guest performances by the legendary Europe guitarist Kee Marcello and Mats Olausson (ex Yngwie Malmsteen) In 2003 they landed a deal with Frontiers records and released their 2:nd album “Second To None” which was a highly critically acclaimed album among the melodic rock audience. This time the line-up featured Erik Mårtensson, Magnus Henriksson, Fredrik Folkare (bass), Magnus Ulfstedt (drums) and Mats Olausson was once again hired as a “stunt-keyboardplayer” in the studio. The album promised to appeal to all fans of such bands as Talisman and Europe due to the heavy guitar approach and the big melodies of their songwriting. Also this record got very well reviewed in the melodic rock audience and created a faithful and strong following for the band. Due to difficulties within the band and line-up changes again, the band took a couple of years off and it wouldn’t be until the summer of 2007 before they started working again. Erik Mårtensson & Magnus Henriksson (who were the surviving members of the band) took 1 week off and wrote the entire album in those seven days. Once they knew what direction to head for, it was quite easy. This time the band had gone for a straighter, classic and riff oriented hard rock. The title for their next release on Frontiers records will be “Are you ready to rock” and the new rock steady line-up of 2008 features Erik Mårtensson, Magnus Henriksson, Robert Bäck – drums and Johan Berlin – Keyboard. And they are ready!

Album:

ECLIPSE's signature sound of massive hooks and stellar musicianship have made them one of Sweden's largest heavy rock bands with well over 100 million streams on streaming services. Hot on the heels of their previous record Megalomanium Part I, ECLIPSE is back with the release of Megalomanium Part II.Says lead singer Erik Martensson, “I think we have suffered from a heavy dose of ever growing egos over the last couple of years. The fact that we released a triple live record a few years ago is probably a good testament to that. Anyway, when it was time to start recording a new album we just felt like we could do whatever we wanted. The creative freedom that came from that feeling resulted in a bunch of great new songs. Like, A LOT of new songs! And a title, Megalomanium. But a title like that comes with a certain responsibility. It can't be just another record. So what's better than releasing a new record? Duh. Releasing TWO new records of course, and so here we are, ready for the release of Megalomanium Part II.”Lead guitarist Magnus Henriksson continues, “The initial idea was to release a double record, mostly because we thought it was a fun and stupid thing to do in this day and age when there is so much music being released. But when we sat down and listened to all the new songs we quickly felt that they should be divided into two separate records, and so that’s what we ended up doing. Between Megalomanium Part I and Part II, I´d say Part II is definitely the more hard rock record of the two.”“I think it's safe to say that we've stayed true to our roots on Part II, not necessarily by choice, it's just what we are and the music that we come from. Having said that, we try really hard to evolve with every record, including this one although there are definitely references to classic Eclipse stuff in there. I´m just gonna go ahead and say it, it's our best record yet.” says Martensson.Swedish hard rock band ECLIPSE has been headlining shows all over the world over the last 10 years with tours in Japan, Australia and the US apart from their native European home turf. They've also opened for a wide range of bands such as My Chemical Romance, Aerosmith and Motley Crue.
