Bio:
Myles Richard Bass[1] (born November 27, 1969), known professionally as Myles Kennedy,is an American musician, singer, and songwriter, best known as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the rock band Alter Bridge, and as the lead vocalist in guitarist Slash's backing band, known as Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. A former guitar instructor from Spokane, Washington, he has worked as a session musician and songwriter, making both studio and live appearances with several artists, and has been involved with several projects throughout his career.Born in Boston, Massachusetts, and raised in Northern Idaho and Spokane, Kennedy attended Spokane Falls Community College to study music theory. He began his music career in 1990 as the lead guitarist of the instrumental jazz ensemble Cosmic Dust, with which he released one studio album. His second band, Citizen Swing, released two studio albums before disbanding in 1996. With fellow Citizen Swing member Craig Johnson, Kennedy founded the rock band The Mayfield Four, for which he provided lead vocals and guitar. The band released two studio albums and broke up in 2002. After declining an offer to audition as the lead vocalist of Velvet Revolver, he was asked to join Alter Bridge by Mark Tremonti in late 2003, formally joining in 2004, and he has been with the band ever since. He has released six studio albums with Alter Bridge. While Alter Bridge was on tour in 2008, Kennedy and former members of Led Zeppelin met and improvised as a group in an informal jam session, but the band never fully materialized. He then started working with Slash, featuring on the guitarist's 2010 eponymous solo album on two tracks and later serving as Slash's vocalist on tour. With Slash, Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators have recorded three studio albums. Kennedy's debut solo album, Year of the Tiger, was released in March 2018.
Album:
With two solo efforts under his belt and sold out headline tours in the rearview, frontman, instrumentalist, and one of rock’s finest vocalists, MYLES KENNEDY (Alter Bridge, Slash ft. Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators), is guided by a sense of keenly honed intuition on his third full-length album, ”The Art of Letting Go”, out October 11, 2024 via Napalm Records. The album follows 2021’s acclaimed The Ides of March, which notched a total of four #1 debuts across three countries, topping the US Top Current Hard Music Chart, the UK Official Rock & Metal Chart and Official Independent Album Chart, and Canada’s Hard Music Albums Chart.Listing 10 punchy groovy rockin’ cuts, with ”The Art of Letting Go” confirms Myles Kennedy as a musical powerhouse. On this latest solo album, that skyscraping voice, alternating from broody warning to unbridled celebration, continues to be an immediately identifiable calling card. This time however, his generally overlooked guitar-playing talent is every bit as full frontal. On his previous two solo offerings, Myles understandably sought an alternative sound to the one that has shone so brightly on his seven albums with Alter Bridge. This time, as the title suggests, he has simply gone for what feels right. Thus, we have songs like the title-track, Mr Downside and Saving Face, all of which might conceivably have become Alter Bridge songs had the mood and timing been different. The latter sees Myles at his huge-chested best, planting sparkling vocal peaks over thunderous and eloquent guitar work; all his own. In Say What You Will, there are even subtle reminders of Alter Bridge classic Metalingus within the framework’s rumbling tumult and tension.Above all, this is a mature album, one in which its creator assesses his place in the world and resolves to make the best of it. ‘What’s done is done, so let it be / Let solace come through melody,’ he emotes in Eternal Lullaby, an exquisite ballad that invites repeat plays. There’s wisdom here that comes from being a successful artist in his 50s. Miss You When You’re Gone might be about a broken relationship but could just as easily be about a teenage daughter leaving for university.Significantly, this is music that has the power to speak to you as an individual. It soothes as much as it rocks – and rest assured, it rocks harder than any previous Myles Kennedy solo album.
