Style : Progressive Heavy Metal

Bio:
Sunrunner is a heavy prog rock band formed in 2008 in Portland, Maine. The band debuted with the album Eyes Of The Master (2011) and have since released four more full-length albums, including this year’s Ancient Arts of Navigation. The band’s third album Heliodromus (2015) received excellent international press due in large part to its unique music identity.Sunrunner combines traditional heavy metal and progressive rock with an exotic and adventurous edge. Formed in 2008, the group adds bits of jazz and instruments such as bouzouki, violin and flute to their sound.‘Heliodromus’, the third full length released in September 2015 on Minotauro Records is the most epic recording to date.
Album:
The label info doesn't offer much information, but Sunrunner seem to be a US project consisting of four musicians who have recorded their new album "Sacred Arts Of Navigation" live in the studio since 2008. For some time now, the Brazilian Bruno Evez has been singing with the band. The great fold-out artwork with the modernly dressed indigenous warrior and a spaceship on a distant planet is somewhat reminiscent of steampunk or Erich von Däniken and is by Jan Barlow, who has done a great job here. The production by Marcus Jidell is also worth listening to. Musically, the quartet offers us straightforward and keyboard-free heavy metal with many midtempo songs and a dash of prog. Also on board is an instrumental called "Dragonship". I find the quiet acoustic ballad "Last Night In Tulum" quite boring and not very touching. At the end there is another 12 minute long track called "Navigating The Apocalypse". This is something that many acts have liked to do in recent years and is not always necessary. Unfortunately, the songs are quite boring and lacking in surprises, so there's nothing more than average to say from my side!

Bruno Neves - Vocals (2018-present)
David Joy - Bass, Vocals
Joe Martignetti - Guitars, Vocals (2008-present) - See also: ex-December Wolves
