Bio:
Exhumed was formed in 1991 by Matt Harvey and Col Jones. Throughout the ensuing years, the band morphed line-ups while continuing to hone their own brand of grinding Death Metal, influenced initially by Napalm Death, Repulsion, Carcass, Carnage, Terrorizer, Impetigo, Death, Autopsy, Master, Pestilence, and other late ‘80s / early ‘90s underground favorites. By 1994, Exhumed had begun incorporating influences from Thrash and Crossover into their songs and the “Gore Metal” sound began to take shape. In 1996 the band's portion of the “In The Name Of Gore” split disc with Hemdale was recorded, which led to a European tour and a deal with Relapse the following year. After recruiting guitarist / vocalist Mike Beams in early 1998 the band released the genre (re)defining “Gore Metal” album and divided Metal fans and press into love / hate camps. The departure of longtime bassist vocalist Ross Sewage after the album’s release opened the slot to Bud Burke, cementing the “classic” Exhumed line-up. The following year the band embarked on their first US tour. 2000’s “Slaughtercult” follow-up upped the ante in sheer aggression and production values, and led to further touring, this time including Europe, Japan, Canada, and Mexico in addition to multiple trips across the US. “Anatomy Is Destiny”, the band’s third album, showcased further musical development of Exhumed’s blood soaked paradigm, both instrumentally and production-wise. After founding member Col Jones and Bud Burke left the band, Exhumed embarked on a rigorous touring schedule that included multiple US and European treks in addition to Canada, Japan, Australia and Iceland. A revamped line-up came together in 2005 to record and album’s worth of cover material titled “Garbage Daze Re-Regurgitated” but disbanded after a US tour that year. A DVD that was in production at the time was also stalled. Since then, the band has been on an indefinite hiatus, with the members pursuing other projects.
Album:
In 1998, Exhumed debuted the album Gore Metal after an 8 year streak of demo tapes that started as mostly Carcass worship. Across the flow of these demos however there was an emerging style all their own. All the blood fueled personality of Carcass, but driven more by slasher films and death metal than Carcass's pathology and grindcore. The album opens with "Necromaniac", a two and a half minute riff salad with tongue in cheek but violent lyrics that is one of the trademarks of the bands personality. stand out lines like "six feet is the depth of my obsession" set the tone for the album excellently. The next track "Open the Abscess" is slightly more thrash oriented, and features a disgusting sample of a running drill and spurting liquid during the solo section. "Enculeation" has a great intro and main riff, "In My Human Slaughterhouse" has a simple but groovy intro riff, and "Deathmask" has a great breakdown, but across the board this album delivers on exactly what it sought out to musically. If you like gory horror movies or deathgrind, or even death metal for that matter, you should like this album. The lineup for this album also all deliver something unique and important to the success of the album. In particular Ross Sewage for his absolutely foul death growl and nice fuzzy bass tone, and Mike Beams intense guitar work and genuinely compelling soloing. That said, Col Jones consistent and blasty drumming and Matt Harveys riffing and unique screams are also integral to Exhumed. This is an album that does not disguise itself as anything but what it is. Exhumed were and still are clearly not interested in doing anything but making deathgrind about gore. You've got a shot of a Texas Chainsaw Massacre - like cover of a kitchen decorated with human body parts and bones, being cut into (pun not intended) by a hand gripping a more than bloodied chainsaw. It screams "you know what you're here for", as does the album title. "Gore Metal". It's metal about gore, get over yourself. All in all, this album is great for people who aren't looking have their life changed by an album. Of course this isn't to say it's bad, I think it's great, but you should know by the way this album presents itself that you aren't getting much more than "gore metal". If you like slasher movies and a good time though, I can't recommend this album enough.

Album:
Absolutely grueling material! I love the vocal trade-offs, too. The music is absolutely amazing. The guitars and vocals are the pinnacle of this album release. I'm surprised that it didn't get more reviews. 5 seems sketchy, hopefully this will bring it even more justice. These guys really tear it up in the riff department. Leads as well. Absolutely everything fit on this release. The music, vocals, production and drums. They did themselves a favor and laid out some unrelenting death metal. It's definitely better than the release that I own. Now, I want to own this one.But anyway, they really change it up all the time.Tempos all over the place, but appropriately. Both the screaming and low bellow vocals make it more versatile. The music and the vocals are in the same time and flow really well. They're masterminds working on here. I hope for more albums to come. But yeah, we can enjoy them for now especially with releases like this. I liked it right away. The music was the first thing that blew me away! The vocals are tolerable, too! But the fact that they could do it all with this release is fantastic. No Exhumed record that I liked than this one. It has me hooked, totally! There wasn't a dull moment on the songs. Each track is about 3-4 minutes in length. It's enough, though I hoped that the release was longer. There are bonus tracks but the main release is where it's at. Most of the tracks you have screaming and some pretty bad-ass riffing alongside the vocals. The guitars rip the rhythms are doing a lot of tremolo picking as well as some technical leads. The trade-offs on the leads are phenomenal. There is some blast beating here, but a lot of the music is melodic so they're versatile here. The songs are in your face brutality. They are just flat out heavy and brutal. But the music is varying as well.If you don't own this, check it out on Spotify or YouTube. It's hard to name one track since all of them (to me) are phenomenal. And yeah, melodic guitar too. Melodic leads as well. It isn't all the time brutal, but most of the time, it is. I'd say if you're a lover of death metal or the guitar or both this would fit your protocol. Nothing on here misses, it's a glory of sheer brutal death metal. No matter what track you listen to here, they're all good so take that into account. The whole album is about 40 minutes long. And yeah, it is worth getting to support the scene and the band. Exhumed is some killer death metal and this is my favorite of theirs by far! OWN IT!!

Year : 2015

Country : United States
Audio : 320 kbps + scans + Video
Size : 166 mb
Bio:
Exhumed is an American death metal band from San Jose, California that is currently signed to Relapse Records. The band plays an old school style of death metal influenced by early Carcass and Entombed and is known for its gore-themed lyrics. The band, which has endured a highly unstable line-up since inception, formed in 1990, went on hiatus in 2005, and reformed in 2010, with guitarist/vocalist Matt Harvey being the band's only consistent member.Exhumed formed in 1990, when founding member Matt Harvey was 15 years old. Exhumed spent much of the ensuing decade releasing numerous demos, split CDs, and EPs. Harvey explained that the band were influenced by Carcass, Impetigo, Repulsion and Terrorizer as well as early albums by Entombed. Harvey also discussed his disenchantment over the directions that death metal took in the middle and late 1990s, such as death 'n' roll and technical death metal, led Exhumed to focus on old school death metal:The differences between [Entombed's] Left Hand Path and Wolverine Blues or [Carcass's] Reek of Putrefaction and Swansong are both pretty big. It seemed like nobody was playing the kind of death metal that I was into. I stopped being a current death metal fan in 1993, because it just didn't sound like what I liked. I wanted more stuff like Impetigo, Cadaver, those types of bands...by the time [Gore Metal] came out, it was already a retro sound, even in 1998, because when you looked at bands that were around at the time, like Nile and Dying Fetus, the direction the genre was going in was a lot more technical. We always weren't [sic] into doing that. It's great that they could push the boundaries but it just didn't interest me, personally. So, we just played old-fashioned death metal. The band recorded their debut album Gore Metal in 1998. The album blended death metal and grindcore and had an impact on later bands who played the same type of music.Harvey said that Gore Metal was the album where Exhumed developed its vision, although he conceded that "we were still very loose and sloppy and didn't really have a handle on recording at all. Listening back to that record, I like most of the songs, but the production is awful sounding."Harvey said the band recorded several songs for the album that were lost when producer James Murphy, then suffering from brain cancer and acting "erratically", was evicted from his studio in Oakland.
Album:
In the last twenty years, recording as come a long way in metal by the means of recording. Every metal release from the 80's to mid-90's sounded like absolute garbage for the most part.So it is really no surprise to learn that seminal death metal act Exhumed have re-recorded their 1998 debut album Gore Metal, and will re-release the album this February once again via Relapse Records.Retitled Gore Metal: A Necrospective 1998 – 2015, the press release asserts that the album "maintains the maniacal ferocity of the original recordings while adding depth to the sonic devourment thanks in no small part to years of touring and a vastly improved-sounding recording quality."The album, which will be released on February 10, 2015, comes with completely sick new artwork (which you can fancy above) and will be packaged with the original version of the album as well.
Comments vocalist/guitarist Matt Harvey:
"I'm super pumped that we got the chance to re-record Gore Metal. I don't think any of us were happy with how it turned out the first time around, so getting another shot at it meant a lot to me personally. I was also really excited to have our old friend Ross Sewage reprise his vocals on the new version, ensuring that it still sounds like that era of EXHUMED, though things are a lot more audible this time around!"

Listening back to that record, I like most of the songs, but the production is awful sounding."Harvey said the band recorded several songs for the album that were lost when producer James Murphy, then suffering from brain cancer and acting "erratically", was evicted from his studio in Oakland.

Who the Hell left graves opened in the cemetery of San Jose, California (USA)? Yes, because the Death Metal/Grindcore god zombies of EXHUMED are back again, spreading their gospel of blood, bowels, and guts to make every Metal fan to puke out their stomachs with their new and infamous album, “Death Revenge”.As every Death Metal fan knows (or must know), the quartet has been around since the beginning of the 90s, making a nasty, dirty and disgusting mix of Death Metal sound with brutal Grindcore fast tempos and snarls. Of course, their musical work evolved a lot since then, but always keeping their traditional musical style, the mix between harsh screamed voices with low tuned guttural grunts, the nasty and assassin guitar riffs and jigsaw solos, and a fast and technical work from bass guitar and drums. On “Death Revenge”, these grave robbers are still as nasty and brutal as always, but a more defined sound that we are used, what grant their work with an aggressive and bloody energy that will make your bones tremble!Jarrett Pritchard (who previously worked with GOATWHORE, 1349 and others) worked as producer for this brutal puke of energy. He made the difference, because even with the nasty and dirty sound of the band, the sonority of “Death Revenge” is excellent, respecting the musical aspects of EXHUMED’s musical personality, but granting the album’s quality a balance between the aggressiveness and clarity the everyone needs to understand the quartet. And the cover created by Orion Landau catches the spirit of old magazines as “Tales from the Crypt”, one of the greatest inspirations of the band’s lyrical work. And be prepared, because the surgery with no anesthesia is about to begin! The mix between fast tempos and slower ones of “Defenders of the Grave” and its brutal insight with nasty voices, the explosion of intestines and putrid guts shown on the violent guitar riffs of “Lifeless” (what fine contrast between fast moments with slow parts), the unexpected melodies on the guitar solos of “Dead End”, the excellent and hooking riffs and vocals of “Night Work” (that is showing a very good technical work on guitars), the clear Grindcore influence shown on “Unspeakable”, the excellent instrumental song “The Anatomy Act of 1832” (where all of them show their excellent technique on the instruments), the hooking energy of “Incarnadined Hands”, and the massacre of nasty vocals and brutal rhythmic session shown on “Death Revenge”. But there are two bonus tracks: “Death Revenge Underture” (an outro, to complete the intro of the album), and the extremely brutal version for EXODUS’ classical song, “A Lesson in Violence” (this violent insight is a true homage to the creators of Thrash Metal, indeed). So, let the grave robbers do their work, and listen to “Death Revenge” at any cost and be prepared to puke out your livers!
