Bio:

Siren is a US heavy metal band that was established in 1981.Hailing from Florida, they still have a loyal group of fans around the world. Lineup: Doug Lee (vocals), Ed Aborn (Drums), Hal Dunn (Guitars), Todd Grubbs (Guitars), Gregg Culbertson (Bass). The band was founded in 1981, with the singer Doug "Dead" Lee only joining the following year. In 1984 the self-financed single Metro-Mercenary was released, on which the cast consists of Lee, guitarist Rob Phillips, bassist Benjamin Parrish and drummer Ed Aborn. After the release, Edward Amyx joined as a new bass player, whereupon the Iron Coffins demo was recorded in January 1985. In addition to the title song, the sound carrier contains the songs Over the Rainbow, Before the Storm and Shadow of a Future Past. Thereupon the label Sanaty Records from Pennsylvania became aware of the band and published Over the Rainbow on the sampler Start to Stardom. The following year followed with Dead of Night, the second demo, which included guitarist Edward "Faxon" Kotz and bassist Gregg Culbertson. Brian Law, a new drummer, can be heard on the 1986 album No Place Like Home.Phillips had returned to the band and can be heard on the album instead of Kotz. The recordings were released by Flametrader Records, a sub label from Semaphore, with around 8,000 units differentiated from them.On the second album Financial Suicide, which was released in 1989 by Aaarrg Records, the cast had almost completely changed by the addition of guitarist Brian C. Hendrickson, bassist Les Talent and drummer David Smith. The latter had been active in the band before the recordings of Metro-Mercenary. About 6,000 to 7,000 copies of the recordings are deposited. In contrast to the two demos and the single, of which 8,000 each separated, this value was rather low. After the release, Doug Lee was initially active at Mekong Delta, which is why there was hardly any time left for Siren.A little later Lee moved to Germany, where he put together a new line-up consisting of bassist Johan Susant (ex-Target, ex-Holy Moses), guitarist Georgie Symbos (ex-Holy Moses) and Fred Fricke (ex-Living Death , ex-Sacred Chao, ex-Laos) and the drummer Frankie Ullrich. Initially, the latter position was to be filled by Jörg Michael, who had to decline due to health reasons. On October 26, 1990 the band appeared in Werl together with Accu§er, Secrecy and Life Artist, whereby they played new songs such as Straight Jacket, Take It, Winds of Fire and Evil Clowns in addition to already known songs. After another demo in 1991 that included four songs, the band disbanded. The demo contains the four new songs mentioned earlier and was recorded at RCP Studios. Due to the dissolution, the planned third album, and thus about 15 other, partly finished, songs remained unpublished. In 2010, the band was supposed to take part in Keep It True, but canceled their appearance again and was replaced by Steelwing.

Album:

3 Full-length album.Siren is a bit of an oddball band, having started out with a couple of strong, progressive-tinged demos in a time when prog metal was rare; later, their debut didn't exactly fail utterly, but rather failed to satisfactorily live up to the potential seen in the demos. Here, the band goes for a bit of a different sound; it's much more streamlined and polished (though not in a commercial way), but unfortunately a good chunk of the rough character of the earlier releases has been polished right out. With "Back from the Dead," Florida-based heavy metal band, Siren, brings forth their first, full-length album in 30 years. After an unexpected reunion in 2018 and a triumphant performance at Germany's KEEP IT TRUE festival, Siren is back and firing on all cylinders. Featuring 15 new songs, "Back from the Dead" stays true to the band's original influences such as Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Accept, Saxon and other now-classic groups.
