Bio:

Treat is a melodic heavy metal band from Stockholm, Sweden. In the second half of the 1980s they had national as well as international successes with songs like "Get You on the Run", "World of Promises", "Party All Over" and the classic "Ready for the Taking".They played at rock festivals like Monsters of Rock in 1988 in Germany. They were also the opening act for Queen in Sweden in 1986 and opened for W.A.S.P. during their first Swedish tour.In 2005, they made a comeback and released the collection Weapons of choice 1984-2006 on March 19, which included the previously unreleased track "Still in Heaven" along with the two new songs "Go!" and "Burn for You". Their first reunion show was in front of 4000 people at the Sweden Rock Festival on June 10, 2006.They were signed to the labels Mercury, Vertigo and now Universal. The song "Roar" from the album Coup de Grace is the main theme of the Facebook app game "Monster Galaxy" and also played significantly on the GOM Star League Starcraft tournament. In late 1990, the band replaced Ernlund with current Candlemass singer Mats Levén, who had previously sung with the band Swedish Erotica and recorded their last album of the 1990s. The self-titled album Treat was released in 1992 and again failed to gain any success for the band and led to the band's break-up on the 26th of March 1993.In 2005 a compilation album was released called Weapons of Choice, which sold surprisingly well around the world and led to the band reforming with the 1989 line-up plus Nalle Påhlsson on bass. The band then signed a deal with Universal and played at the Sweden Rock Festival on June 10, 2006. On March 19, 2010 the band released their reunion album Coup de Grace which was a great success for the band and has led to them touring the world for the first time since the 1980s. The album received positive reviews from the press. In July 2014, Treat played the Väsby Rock festival in Upplands Väsby, Sweden.

Album:

Scratch and Bite is the debut studio album by the Swedish hard rock / heavy metal band Treat. It was released on February 24, 1985.In 2008, "Scratch And Bite" was remastered and re-released, including two bonus songs and a DVD performance of the band. The first single was an big success and they only managed to play two live gigs (1:st gig ever: 8th of June /1984) before WASP wanted them as support act for their first tour in Sweden. Next single "You got me" released Oct.-84 proved once and for all that Treat were no one hit wonders, even if it didn't sell as much as the debut. They went back into the studio in Dec-84 to record their first full lenght album, an album that they were going to name "Inside Out" at first, but as you might know ended up as SCRATCH AND BITE.a pic of the S+B hereAnders Wikstrom said they were heavily influenced by Def leppard´s "Pyromania" when they went into the studio to record Scratch and Bite and there´s no doubt about it either, as many of the songs do sound a lot like Def Lep. Including "No Room For Strangers", which really is nothing more than a rip off of "Billy´s Got a Gun". SCRATCH AND BITE was released in the early summer of 1985 and the band had a couple of minor hit songs in Sweden with "Get You On The Run" and the lovely power ballad "We Are One". Both did well in the charts and the later became a much-played song at the biggest radio show for the youth (Tracks). Treat came from nowhere and actually took over the title as "The Best Hardrock Band" in Sweden that year, as Joey Tempest & Europe had recording and voice problems. Then of course came the payback with THE FINAL COUNTDOWN in 1986.They toured all over Sweden in the summer of-85 and everything seemed to be hunky-dory in the Treat camp, before "disaster" struck down without a warning. Drummer Mats "Dalton" Dahlberg suddenly left the band without a notice or explanation in August-85! It came out years later that Dahlberg believed that Ernlund had been talking behind his back about the way he played his drums and that he wasn´t pleased with him at all. It also came out that Dahlberg left in anger without a word to Ernlund or any other band member about the whole thing. Looking back, it may seem a bit unnecessary and childish, but Dahlberg made his mind up and left before anyone even had a chance to stop him. He later formed his own band DALTON who released two pretty good melodic albums (THE RACE IS ON - 1987 & INJECTION -1989) which had songs co-written by both Jon Bon Jovi & Michael Bolton etc.The new drummer Leif Sundin who had his roots in Jazz music and his father was a well known Jazz musician in Sweden, was maybe a strange choice for a hardrock band even if Sundin played with "Six Feet Under" for a while! The very same band which Bjorn Lodin (Baltimoore) and the Johansson brothers Jens & Anders (Yngwie Malmsteen, Dio, Stratovarius, Hammerfall etc.) once played with. It became clearer after a while though that Sundin wasn´t the right man for the job, he later teamed up with the famous POP band "Style" even if he at first recorded the next album with Treat. They decided to bring in ex-Plasmatics / Little Steven bassist Jean Beauvoir (who at the time lived in and recorded two solo albums in Sweden) as producer for the next single. So... once again back into the studio and the result "Ride Me High" was released in December of -85 with a new and fresh sound. Maybe not fresh enough, as they decided not to continue with Beauvoir as producer for the next album THE PLEASURE PRINCIPLE, even if the song itself was pretty catchy and the single did okay in the charts. Nope, instead they hooked up with a more experienced producer and musician: Gregg Winter, who also helped out with the songwriting on six of the nine tracks even if Wikström as always was the main songwriter with Erlund taking care of the lyrics.

Album:

Treat are an absolutely fantastic melodic rock band from Sweden that should have ruled the airwaves back in the 80s/early 90's. I'm really at a loss as to why they never achieved any success, but hey, at least we can still enjoy them with their great albums."Organized Crime" was released in 1989, and was the last Treat album to feature front-man Robert Ernlund. This may also be my favorite Treat record as well. The songs are a little heavier than previous Treat releases, but they make sure they keep that Euro styled harmony in the mix. While not every song is hit worthy, most of this album is pretty awesome to listen to. Songs like "Ready for the Taking," "Party All Over," "Keep Your Hands to Yourself," and "Get You On The Run" are all catchy as sin, and make this pretty close to must-have for melodic rock fans. This band played and toured during the 80's and they have sadly like so many others disappeared from the musical scene. But the music still lives , and I do not exaggerate when I state that this is your opportunity to purchase a interesting and enjoyable piece of hardrock history. The most correct description of Treat would require that you compare them to Europe. ( Europe was one of the most celebrated " soft " hardrock bands that ever was heard on the european charts during the eighties. Their all time classic " Final countdown " will probably ring a bell when you hear it - even if you do not know the artists behind it ) For those of you who are familiar with Europe ; well , Treat plays and performes in the same vein as their fellow countrymen. Well structured and smooth melodies underlined with terrific vocals - although with a little more bass in the voice. The lyrics are very versatile even if a few of them ( to my disliking ) are nothing but plain love-themes.OK - you may be asking yourself : " should I spend money on a Europe-clone ? " My answer would be ; Treat definitely stands on it's own merits. If you compare the song quality from this album with , for instance, Europes " Final Countdown " or " Wings of tomorrow " there is an interesting difference ! Europes typical album contains 2-4 really smoking songs , while the remaining material is more sort of average and just fill up the other half of the albums. Treat on the other side do not really have any SUPER song on the album - but instead almost EVERY single tune is VERY GOOD with great catchiness and some really pleasant melodies. If you put down your money on a whole album I think this is the best choice , while on the other side many of Europes best songs can be purchased in the shape of maxi-CD:s or "best-of-compilations". Organized Crime is without any significant exception a very delightful album and it is hard for me to pick or suggest any particular " nuggets " , but if you can test listen to this great CD I would suggest that you try " Conspiracy " which is my choice number one when I let people enjoy softer music at garden partys etc. Another song that always gets the attention from listerers is the emotional " home is where your heart is ". Great music from a great decade. Even if my main choices when buying CD:s today lies within the realms of power-and speedmetal I must confess that those guys back in the 80's certainly knew their trade when it came to songwriting. Without hesitation I recommend you to buy this CD if you have the slightest interest in serious and talented hardrock following the northeuropean tradition. This is a safe chance !

Album:

Frontiers Music Srl will release "Ghost Of Graceland", the new album from Swedish hard rockers TREAT, on April 15.The song "Inferno", taken from "Ghost Of Graceland", can be streamed in the YouTube clip below.Building on the success of their last album, 2010's "Coup De Grace", hailed by both fans and critics as a masterpiece, TREAT has put together an album packed with reflective, soul-searching songs dressed in devilishly seductive yet hard-hitting melodic rock."This is where we are today, as a band, as musicians, songwriters and individuals. It's a statement: this is us in 2016," says TREAT's main songwriter and guitarist Anders Wikström."Ghost Of Graceland" was produced by longtime TREAT fan and respected writer/producer Peter Mansson and co-produced by Anders Wikström, showcases a band with a thirty-plus-year career, that are hungrier and more energetic than ever!To achieve the organic, pure, bold, (somewhat) cocky, contemporary sound with melodies and choruses to die for that they were going for, the band took a step back. Wikström explains: "It's a musical as well as a personal soul searching. We traced us back to our roots, the music and the heroes that got us dreaming back in the '70s: KISS, VAN HALEN, SWEET, DEEP PURPLE and UFO. An era where music and musicianship really mattered and rock 'n' roll was a matter of life or death." TREAT got in the time machine and retrieved all that restless energy. But "Ghost Of Graceland", with all its delicious, action-packed and hook-laden melodic rock that could soundtrack a party, also sees a band that reflects on their personal lives.Robert Ernlund (vocals), Anders Wikström (guitars and backing vocals), Patrick Appelgren (keyboards, guitar and backing vocals), Jamie Borger (drums) and new bass player Pontus Egberg (KING DIAMOND, LION'S SHARE) are a powerhouse. Pontus replaces the band's songwriting partner Fredrik Thomander, who has also been performing live with the band since 2013."When we started working on this album and in need of a permanent replacement on bass, Pontus was the only guy we had in mind," Wikström says. "He's a good friend of ours and a fantastic musician and live performer. He and Jamie just blow the roof off together on this new album!""We're doing what we love. We're proudly flying the flag for hard and melodic rock. Honestly, this is a very, very good TREAT album," adds Wikström.Experience TREAT live at Frontiers Rock Festival in Trezzo Sull'Adda (Milano) on April 23.

Album:

On April 23, 2016, Treat played a hotly anticipated set at Frontiers Rock Festival III. Held close to Milano, Italy, this was the third annual edition of the festival and saw Treat playing hot on the heels of the release of their latest studio album, “Ghost Of Graceland”. The release date of this live album happens to be about one year after the initial performance took place and almost coincides with the 2017 edition of the Frontiers Rock Festival as well. The band took the stage by storm, opening the show with the title track from their last studio album and showcasing a very special line-up, which features H.e.a.t keyboardist Jona Tee taking the place of Patrik Appelgren for this exclusive performance. Treat offered a show with a great mixture of new and recent songs taken from their latest album, the highly regarded 2010 release “Coup De Grace”, and classic songs from the good old days including “World Of Promises”, “Get You On The Run” and “Ready For The Taking”. Says guitarist Anders Wikström: “As we haven’t released a live home video in 10 years, let alone a live album ever, and then Serafino asked us, we were more than delighted, and frankly, long overdue, to show our fans what we've been up to for the last couple of years. With so many albums to choose from and our audience constantly asking for different songs in the setlist, this was a great opportunity to close one chapter, only to start writing the next. 'The Road More Or Less Traveled' is a great reminder for anyone to see that Treat is very much a living and breathing live entity!” Treat’s performance was truly a unique and special one and this live video documents a great moment in the band’s history as well as serving as a celebration of one of Sweden’s finest hard rock bands ever! "This year will take us right back we belong, on stage! We have some really cool surprises and will of course play the best of the new, but also older songs we haven’t performed in ages! See you all on tour through 2017”, concludes Anders.

Album:

Building on the success of their last two albums Coup De Grace (2010) and Ghost Of Graceland (2016), which were both released after the band's reunion in 2006, TREAT's return has been more than welcome by fans and critics alike. With the two albums having received praise as true masterpieces, Treat is releasing their new CD, "Tunguska", via Frontiers Music next September 14. This Japanese Edition will be released tomorrow, with a bonus track. But what is "Tunguska"? The album title is a reference to a mysterious large explosion that took place in Siberia in 1908, but metaphorically and artistically, "Tunguska" represents the last piece of the puzzle to be put in place since the band's reunion. It highlights the unique musicianship Treat have developed together over the years in the creative songwriting process, but also illustrates how the band want their music to sound and feel in the 21st century.Packed with riveting rockers and seductive, soul searching melodic rock songs, "Tunguska" is a real blast.Opener 'Progenitors' kicks with punchy riffs, with 'Always Have, Always Will' we find Treat at their best with a terrific midtempo melody and a soaring chorus, then 'Best Of Enemies' adds keyboard layers for a muscular AOR tune.'Rose Of Jericho' is one of the strongest melodic rockers on the album, while the chorus of 'Hearthmath City' will make to tap your foot over and over again.More modern and updated to current times, 'Build The Love' is an elegant melodic rocker with an AOR foundation, the catchiness of 'Man Overboard' brings to mind some Vega, then 'Riptide' is a joyful rocker with great guitar work. The ballad arrives in 'Tomorrow Never Comes', piano driven AOR with lots of harmony vocals on the chorus, 'All Bets Are Off' pick up the tempo for a more classic sound, while closer 'Undefeated' is an infectious modern melodic rocker, again with a huge chorus. The Japanese bonus track 'Tomorrow Never Comes (Acoustic Version)' adds acoustic guitars and synth orchestration to the mix, and this version works even better than the regular.reat 2018 and "Tunguska" shows a band with an updated, vital sound, punchy but extremely melodic and contagious. The band surprises with a songwriting, arrangements and sound production akin the geniuses of Vega, a bit more muscular, but equally catchy.

Album:

Frontiers Music Srl is proud to announce the forthcoming release of "The Endgame", Swedish melodic rock band Treat's ninth studio album. With bassist Nalle Påhlsson (who appeared on "Coup De Grace") back in the ranks, vocalist Robert Ernlund, guitarist Anders Wikström, drummer Jamie Borger and keyboarder Patrick Appelgren have once again set a course for yet another exciting musical journey. Twelve songs in total, including up-tempo rockers, ballads, 80s sounding gems and ones with musical influences beyond the ordinary, make this album another definitive statement by the quintet from the south of Stockholm that they are leaders in the Swedish melodic hard rock scene. Produced by Peter Mansson (who also helmed "Tunguska" and "Ghost Of Graceland"), "The Endgame" by all means qualifies as a true classic album from Treat."We always want to make albums that are better than the last one. The album title, to me, represents many things about Treat in this day and age, including the sincerity and history of the band. But also the fight to survive as a band like brothers in arms, through all these years of highs and lows, tears and laughter. Seriously, we grew up together in the 80s, learning how to make our brand of melodic hard rock by heart and we still continue to work that hard even today. We're as close as a family and we're blessed to still be able to get in the ring and be on top of our game", says guitarist Anders Wikstrom. For a band that's been going for nearly four decades, inspiration and the drive to create fresh material still propels Treat. "Well, for me, it always starts with the song and that exciting feeling which leads to the next one and so on. As a longtime songwriter, I trust my gut instinct, but I know the material will take new and better shape when the rest of the guys get in the creative loop, and remember, deep down we're still kids and fans of great rock music and we still get excited when a cool idea turns into a great song", says Wikstrom. "We were focused on making the best possible Treat effort and all of us decided, early on, to make this a positive and uplifting record to be proud of in the years to come. I guess we found the working process to be our sane and safe haven in the midst of this new daily life none of us could have predicted would happen", he continues. "We started the basic track recordings in Atlantis Studios in Stockholm in November 2020, moved on to Baggpipe Studios and Peter Mansson's Mir Studios in the spring/summer of 2021 for lead vocals and overdubs, then finished mixing in Mir Studios in Stockholm in October 2021.""Most of us have our own studios at home, where we do additional tracking, but to get the sound we wanted for The Endgame, we did take our time to find the right recording rooms and studio facilities and the result speaks for itself! Peter Mansson is one of the best rock producers I know, and also a longtime friend. He knows us inside out, pros and cons, and will always give an arm and a leg to make our vision come true. His contribution to this album as producer, recording and mixing engineer is outstanding. He's also an excellent musician and he's become almost like a sixth member of the gang, a fantastic guy and we love him", adds Wikstrom. "We really hope our fans will love this album as much we do because we made it for you!", he concludes.
