Bio:

Cinderella is an American glam metal and hard rock band from the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The band emerged in the mid-1980s with a series of multi-platinum albums and hit singles whose music videos received heavy MTV rotation. They began as heavy metal band, but shifted towards a more hard rock/blues-rock sound. By the mid-1990s, the band's popularity declined severely due to personal setbacks, break-ups, and changes in the music industry. Nonetheless, after a hiatus the band reunited and has continued to tour. The band's latest studio album was Still Climbing (1994). The band has sold 15 million albums worldwide, according to Tom Keifer's official website.Cinderella was formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1983 by singer-songwriter, keyboardist, and guitarist Tom Keifer and bassist Eric Brittingham. The initial lineup also included guitarist Michael Kelly Smith and drummer Tony Destra. In 1985, Smith and Destra left to form Britny Fox, another Philadelphia-based glam metal band. In a 2014 interview, Tom Keifer stated that Kiss bassist Gene Simmons first took interest in the band, and tried to get them a deal with Polygram, but they were not interested. Jon Bon Jovi saw them perform at the Empire Rock Club in Philadelphia and talked to his A&R man, Derek Shulman about seeing the group. Shulman was not convinced at first either, and wanted to sign the group to a six-month development deal. But after extensive negotiations, he finally signed the band.In 1985, with a recording contract with Mercury/Polygram Records in the works, guitarist Jeff LaBar and drummer Jim Drnec joined the band.During the recording of the band's debut album, Night Songs, studio session drummer Jody Cortez was brought in to help with the recording. After the recording was completed, Drnec was replaced by Gloucester City, NJ drummer, Albie "Al" Barker, who just missed making the album's cover and the band's album line-up. Fred Coury joined the band and was in all MTV music videos and played in the upcoming tours. Night Songs was released on August 2, 1986 and eventually achieved triple platinum status, selling 50,000 copies per week at one point. The heavy metal album reached No. 3 on the Billboard charts in February 1987. By the end of 1987, the band released a video compilation called "Night Songs" to accompany the album, featuring the promotional videos from the album plus three live songs recorded on their 1986 tour.Cinderella's first tour was in 1986 with glam metal rockers Poison, opening for Japanese heavy metal band Loudness. Further tours into 1987 were spent playing to large arena audiences: five months opening for former Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth, and seven months with Bon Jovi, taking the opening slot for their Slippery When Wet tour. Later that year, the band went overseas, appearing in Japan, Scandinavia, and at the Monsters of Rock festivals in United Kingdom and Germany.Cinderella's second album, Long Cold Winter, was released in 1988. The new album signified a shift towards a blues-rock sound, though it could still be described as glam metal. A 254-show tour to support the album lasted over 14 months and included dates on the Moscow Music Peace Festival alongside other metal acts, such as Ozzy Osbourne, The Scorpions, Mötley Crüe, Bon Jovi, and Skid Row. The tour's stage show included Tom Keifer being lowered to the stage while playing a white piano during their radio hit "Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone)". On April 17, 1990, the band released a video compilation called Tales from the Gypsy Road featuring four promo videos from Long Cold Winter plus two live medleys, the second of which contained a cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's famous "Sweet Home Alabama".Cinderella's third album, Heartbreak Station, was released in 1990. It featured more songs than Long Cold Winter that were influenced by Keifer's love of the blues. Following the accompanying tour, Fred Coury left the band and joined former Ratt vocalist Stephen Pearcy in the band Arcade. In 1991, Keifer lost his voice due to a paresis of his vocal cords. He underwent several surgeries to repair a vocal cyst and hemorrhage. This added to delays in the recording of the band's fourth album, Still Climbing. It was finally released in 1994 with Kenny Aronoff on drums, but the album quickly disappeared from the charts. Mercury Records consequently dropped the band which went on hiatus in 1995.Cinderella resumed activity in 1997, the same year Mercury Records released a greatest hits compilation titled Once Upon A... and a video compilation containing all the bands promo videos from the first three albums. The group toured the United States in 1998, with one concert stop captured on the live album Live at the Key Club, which was released in 1999 through Cleopatra Records.Around 1999, the band was signed by John Kalodner to Sony Records. However, the band was dropped by the label before a new album could be released, plunging the band into three years of litigation.Cinderella toured again in 2000 and 2002.Cinderella headlined the VH1 Classic Rock Never Stops 2005 summer tour. Also in 2005, Cinderella toured with FireHouse, RATT, and Quiet Riot. Mercury Records released the compilation Rocked, Wired & Bluesed: The Greatest Hits on CD and DVD.In 2006 Cinderella toured with Poison. Both bands celebrated the 20th anniversary of their debut albums, Night Songs and Look What the Cat Dragged In. Cinderella planned to tour in 2008 with Warrant, Lynch Mob, and Lynam, but on June 13 that year, Tim Heyne, the band's manager, said in a press release: “It is with unbelievably deep regret that I must announce that Cinderella's Tom Keifer's left vocal cord has hemorrhaged, thereby making it impossible for him to sing in the immediate future.” Lebar was interviewed by Ultimate-Guitar and stated that Cinderella would love to make a new record but there were obstacles holding the group back. They still were not signed to a record label after Sony dropped the band in 2000. Lebar also stated that he is busy with his new band, Freakshow, which features Frankie Banali of Quiet Riot, and Eric is busy with Naked Beggars.A message posted to the Cinderella message board in spring of 2009 stated that Keifer's voice has returned to normal. Promoters from the 2009 Rock Gone Wild Festival confirmed that the band was scheduled to perform at two festivals in late summer or early fall of 2009.Cinderella confirmed on their message board that they would be touring in 2010 with two warm up dates already confirmedIt was announced on February 22 that Cinderella will be a part of Rocklahoma 2010 in Pryor Oklahoma and Sweden Rock Festival 2010. On February 26, 2010, it was announced that Cinderella will be the headliner of the MSC Poesia sailing from Fort Lauderdale on November 11, 2010. July 2010 sees Cinderella taking the stage to open for Bret Michaels, during the Common Ground Music Festival in Lansing, MI, with an original line-up of stars including Tom Keifer, Eric Brittingham, Jeff LaBar and Fred Coury. They will then follow that with 14 dates in the US supporting Scorpions on their Get Your Sting and Blackout farewell tour.Cinderella played at the Download festival in the UK in June 2010,the Rock Jam near Grand Junction, Colorado, Friday, August 27, and also the Oregon State Fair on September 4, 2010. In November 2010 Cinderella joined a variety of other hard rock acts on the cruise entitled "ShipRocked".In 2011 Cinderella undertook a 25th anniversary world tour. 20 shows were confirmed from April through July.During the tour, they headlined the first edition of the "Shout It Out Loud" Festival in Germany. In Summer 2012 Cinderella did US headlining tour with former Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach supporting them.In March 2013 Cinderella played the 2013 Monsters of Rock Cruise along with bands such as Tesla, Kix, Queensrÿche and many others.

Album:

Night Songs is the debut studio album by American rock band Cinderella. It was released in 1986 through Mercury Records in America and Vertigo Records in Europe.Night Songs sold several million copies due to a combination of Cinderella's breakthrough single "Nobody's Fool", MTV airplay, and an opening slot on labelmates Bon Jovi's tour, in support of their album Slippery When Wet.The album peaked at #3 on the US charts on February 7, 1987,and was certified double platinum for shipping 2 million copies there twelve days later. In May 1991, it was certified triple platinum, having shipped 3 million copies.Leadoff single "Shake Me" failed to chart, but "Nobody's Fool" cracked the Top 20, reaching #13. Third single "Somebody Save Me" went to #66. On May 4, 1987, Cinderella filmed parts of their concert in Philadelphia. These live songs were, along with their three MTV videos, released on home video in August 1987 on Night Songs: The Videos. On the VH1 program That Metal Show, Night Songs was rated #5 on the show's "top five worst album covers on great albums" list. Eddie Trunk stated that the cover was not that bad, it was just misleading, as it put forward a glam metal image, but the songs inside were classic hard rock and heavy metal.According to some rock/metal critics, Night Songs is considered a heavy metal album. After Night Songs, the band went in a more hard rock/blues rock direction. In the episode "How I Met Everyone Else" of the How I Met Your Mother series, Ted is seen wearing a Night Songs album T-shirt during flashback scenes. In October 2014 for her birthday, guitarist Tom Keifer presented Lzzy Hale of Halestorm with the costume jewelry pin he wore on his right shoulder for the Night Songs album cover. Hale subsequently wore the pin on her right hip on the album cover for Halestorm's 2015 Into the Wild Life, to include a touch of tradition.

Album:

The story of Glam Metal band CINDERELLA is fairly well known in the annals of 80’s Metal. They were discovered in a Philadelphia nightclub by John Bon Jovi. The band released three studio albums, and were taken on the road by quite a few well known bands, giving them a lot of exposure. Shortly thereafter, they split, and Tom had vocal surgery. After several more tours during the 2000’s, and attempts to get the band back together and record, they have recently re-united. This is a live album collection, consisting of sixteen tracks. All of the classics are here. Starting off is the bluesy slide guitar of “More Things Change,” the Southern tinged rocker “Push, Push,” and that familiar riff of “Gypsy Road.” The band sounds tight and energetic, and there is no mistaking the gravely voice of Tom Keifer. “The Last Mile” is a nice, sweet acoustic and emotional number from “The Long Cold Winter,” and “Shelter Me” is an upbeat, Gospel-inspired track that shows some versatility of the band’s influence and repertoire. I always like the simple but pleasing E and C chord riff of “Coming Home,” and still feel to this day that it is their best song. It really picks up quickly and ends in a barrage of melody and emotion. “Nightsongs” and “Nobody’s Fool” really take me back in time to the days of MTV, when Glam ruled the airwaves, and bands wanted to really give you a visual show. They sound as good today as they did in their heyday. Picking up energy to the show is the fast paced AC/DC type riff in “Somebody Save Me,” and the fan favorite vocal heavy “Shake Me.” Of course, no show would be complete without their signature piano-laden power ballad, “Don’t Know What You Got.” It’s a powerful song with a simple but deep message, where Tom pours everything into his performance. “Make Your Own Way” is a positive, energetic closer. We have an excellent collection of the songs that best represent this band, and their career volume of work. They have an important place in the history of Glam Metal, and have written many memorable songs that have lasted throughout time. Their niche seems to have been a more aggressive, bluesy approach to songwriting, the catchiness of their sound, and the clear multi-talents of Tom Keifer, who was a songwriter, singer, guitarist and keyboardist. The soundness of their live show is also on display here, and although we can’t see them performing here, we know they are spinning their guitars and bass around their body with their straps quite often.

Album:

Heartbreak Station is the third studio album by American rock band Cinderella, released in 1990 through Mercury Records. It hit #19 in the US and went platinum for shipping a million albums there the same year. The band's two previous efforts, Night Songs and Long Cold Winter, had both gone double platinum and reaching triple during the 1990s,and had each landed in the US top ten while featuring a US top 20 hit, Heartbreak Station achieved none of these things. Vocalist Tom Keifer has stated on several occasions that this is his favorite Cinderella record. The album featured three singles, which were "Shelter Me", hitting #36 in the US, the title track, which made #44, and "The More Things Change", which didn't chart. If compared to the two previous records, this album presents some differences in its musical style, being more oriented towards blues heavy hard rock instead of glam metal and being more evidently influenced by The Rolling Stones and Aerosmith. All songs are written by Tom Keifer, except for "Love's Got Me Doin' Time" by Tom Keifer/Eric Brittingham.I’ve loved the first two Cinderella albums and for the longest time I didn’t get around listening to their next two albums, Heartbreak Station and Still Climbing. I recently acquired Heartbreak Station and I have to say I missed out on some great music. They changed their roots from the Glam sound that made them popular to a more Blues-oriented direction and although I was very fond of their debut album Night Songs and its follow up Long Cold Winter it’s a change that I like. Cinderella on this album seem to be wanting to break away from the Glam mold, which was already evident from their second album, which already integrated blues elements into the music but pushed even further in that direction with their third album. It introduced more acoustic and came dangerously to country many times, but Cinderella style of course, Heartbreak Station is anything but generic. As a Rock/Metal fan primarily the country direction wasn’t something I thought would have much appeal to me but I’m surprised at how much at I like it and how well the approach they took on this album works. Just have an open mind and you’ll see that they’ve matured as persons and musicians and Heartbreak is a culmination of that and the stunning result.“The More Things Change” as an opening song is a statement of how they’ve changed their sound, evolved through the years as musicians and persons, it’s quick to show the new direction and is one of the catchiest and most memorable tracks off Heartbreak Station. “Love’s Got Me Doing Time” has a cool near psychedelic groove and even some Jimi Hendrix style of playing and while it’s very different and might seem a little out of place, it fits and adds diversity, it’s a cool track. “Shelter Me” is one of the best tracks from this album, it’s catchy and the chorus is instantly etched in your mind, it’s a quite effective track. Like Long Cold Winter, the title track of this album is both the longest cut, and the ballad. Cinderella have done amazing ballads (“Nobody’s Fool”, “Don’t Know What You Got“, “Long Cold Winter” all come to mind) and “Heartbreak Station” ranks up there, it’s touching, has a neat chorus, feels sincere and is just as good as any of the ballads they’ve done, albeit with a slightly different sound. The lyrics to me are heartbreaking and very personal and anyone’s who’s ever experienced a heartbreak will be touched by this one, a true tearjerker the highlight and centerpiece of the album. “Sick For The Cure” picks up the pace and gets things rocking a little more, it has great lyrics and Tom’s delivery is absolutely fantastic. “One For Rock And Roll” could be described as a happy go lucky, “I don’t care because I’m happy with simple things” bouncy delight. A simple effective and infectious song. “Dead Man’s Road” is a bluesy as Cinderella gets and Tom’s voice shines through altering between his normal and raspy voice. It’s one of the highlights of Heartbreak Station and it stands out, it takes you places. Reflecting lyrics on this one, “When I was young, my old man told me I could be what I wanted”, one of my favorite Cinderella songs. “Electric Love” stands out for being much different from the rest, the simplest way to explain it is that it’s a trip for the listener with its groove (reminiscent of Aerosmith’s “Sweet Emotion”) and although it has a fixated chorus, it still goes places. “Love Gone Bad” and “Wind of Change” end the album tremendously well and on a high note, there is not a bad moment here.Coming from a big fan of the band’s first two albums, Heartbreak Station is an incredible album that pursues different musical territories. It’s undeniably Cinderella but with a twist. This is one of my favourite albums of the 1990’s and while some of the bands tried (and failed) to adapt to the changing landscape of the decade, Cinderella is one of the few that I felt succeeded at doing so. They reinvented themselves successfully and even though I’m sure some of the early followers didn’t love the change, they reached out to people they couldn’t have otherwise. I’ve always maintained that Tom Keiffer is a superb songwriter who wrote amazing songs and on this album the maturity and beauty he reaches in the lyrics is something. After Heartbreak Station Cinderella went on to release one more studio album Still Climbing (1994) but singer, leader and songwriter Tom Keifer struggled with his voice in the 1990’s and unfortunately they haven’t released anything since other than live albums. Musically and from an objective point of view Heartbreak Station is possibly Cinderella’s strongest album (especially if you dislike the Glam sound of the 80’s), however, I always had a soft spot for the first two albums the band released in the 1980’s and those songs will always be with me, but this is something else and I mean that in a VERY good way. HS is a GREAT album, it was great to see one of the bands branch out and do something unexpected and different. It’s a great little gem and even thought it was clear that they weren’t just another Glam band with big hair, this album validates it even more as they branched out and didn’t go for a commercial sound; they did what they wanted. If you liked the other Cinderella albums and have an open mind, or if you didn’t like the band’s early sound I think you’ll find a lot to like on Heartbreak Station. It’s deserving of the acclaim it receives from fans, I know it has a very special place in my collection.

Album:

Cinderella kicking MAJOR A** New Years Eve in Tokyo circa 1990.The term "Bootleg" from the past is usually a not so great sounding live recording BUT in THIS case, THIS is NOT your "Mother's Bootleg" - It sounds GREAT and the performance is tight as Hell. The Guitar interplay between Tom Keifer & Jeff Labar is like lightening on this recording with a solid foundation provided by Bassist Eric Brittingham & Drummer Jeff Coury - VERY tight all around. This live show was in support of their album (now CD) "Heartbreak Station" which (in MY opinion) is the BEST of their studio efforts drawing upon the Mississippi Delta Blues as a major influence with stunning results - especially if you love Slide Guitar, which I do ther highly recommended items which are a must for ANY Cinderella fans collection : The DVD "In Concert" from later in the same tour recorded in the Motor City AND the CD "Heartbreak Station Tour Live In Detroit" although the sound Mix is definitely superior on Authorized Bootleg (The Detroit performance is Killer though. Not sure if it will ever happen, but I'm holding out hope for a Cinderella Reunion Tour in the future - ROCK ON!!!!!!

Album:

Taken from the original master cassette tape(maxell XL II).belonged to Cozy Powell, handwritten "Tom's Tape" on the tape index sheet. Mostly instrumentals - this tape sounds like it was Cozy Powell's work/practice tape for the sessions he was involved in for Cinderella's 'Long Cold Winter' album. There's some vocals present and the mixing is quite different than the final product. Some songs are incomplete on this tape as well. Sound quality is decent for a Maxell type II cassette tape in which this material is purportedly sourced from. When asked about Cozy Powell playing drums on "Long Cold Winter" Tom Keifer had this to say: He played most of the drums. Fred was new to the band. We had a session drummer on our first record and Fred came in and did the tour. Fred was very young. When we came back in to do Long Cold Winter, Andy didn’t think he was quite there. We had a couple of guys come in on that. It was hard for Fred, but he took it as motivation and he woodshedded and worked really hard. He played on the next record Heartbreak Station and he did a great job.

Album:

French reissue label Bad Reputation has been doing a great job releasing 'Collector Series / Remastered with Bonus', with the main attraction being the addition of hard yo find extra material, making these reissues the 'definitive expanded versions'. In a Rock Candy Records fashion, these are official remasters in arrangement with the original recording companies. Now we have here, in my opinion, CINDERELLA's best album "Long Cold Winter remaster +5".Philadelphia-based band Cinderella hit record stores and MTV in 1987, joining a crowded crop of hair metal hitmakers that included Bon Jovi, Poison, Europe, Stryper, Winger, Mötley Crüe and more. The band’s debut album, Night Songs, hit No. 3 on the Billboard 200 album chart not because its songs were deep treatises on global conflicts or the socioeconomic repercussions of public policy like some other chart-toppers from the era; Night Songs was a hit because it rocked. These guys melded AC/DC’s histrionics to Poison’s arena-ready spectacle and did so with a bluesy, guitar-swinging swagger. Singer and main songwriter Tom Keifer was a pouting pretty boy who also knew his way around the neck of a Les Paul. They were the total package and, at first blush, also appeared to be as glammy and superficial as the other bands that looked just like them.Keifer had more depth than that, though, and when it came time to write Cinderella’s second album, "Long Cold Winter", he hoped to avoid the sophomore slump by taking stock of his surroundings and writing songs from the perspective of a young man uncertain of where he was at any given point or who was around him.Because of the band’s brutal touring schedule, this meant writing the record on the road, using the technology available to him at the time. One member of the band absent from both records was drummer Fred Coury, replaced on "Long Cold Winter" by master Cozy Powell and Denny Carmassi (Heart, Montrose and others). The results were a cut above the salacious chicks-and-booze anthems or cowboys-on-steel-horses ballads their peers were churning out.Keifer had riff-rock story songs like “Gypsy Road” and “The Last Mile.” He had road-weary sentiments in a rock song like “Comin’ Apart at the Seams” and in the ballad “Comin’ Home.”Did someone say ballad? He had a monster power ballad called “Don’t Know What You Got (Till It’s Gone).” And he had straight-up blues songs in “Bad Seamstress Blues” and “Long Cold Winter.”It was a varied collection of songs, some really high-quality stuff.“Long Cold Winter” stands as one of the greatest pillars of '80s American hard rock, eclipsing Night Songs (which is good in its own right) and annihilates everything else they ever did.You probably already got a copy of this killer album, however this "Long Cold Winter remaster +5" is the definitive version, including five live tracks captured in Tokyo and Philadephia previously unreleased on CD .

Album:

Cinderella was founded in Philadelphia, PA, in 1983 by Tom Keifer and bassist Eric Brittingham. The band insisted on performing mainly original material and performed evert club and bar they could in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Kiss bassplayer Gene Simmons was the first to take notice and told their record company Polygram who werent that impressed. Then during the New Jersey shows they caught the interested from Jon Bon Jovi who told his A&R man, Derek Shulman to check this band out. First he wasnt that impressed either but after seeing more shows and seeing the fans reaction he soon changed his mind and signed the band who released their debut album Night Songs in June of 1986. This amazing album features 17 tracks, several of them never before released, that were recorded by the band during the first years before the recording of Night Songs. That means that these recordings features guitarist Michael Kelly Smith and drummer Tony Destra, who were members of the band, before they left and formed Britny Fox. Then as a bonus we have two single edit tracks making it 19-tracks in total and ofcourse a must have for any fan of 80s hard rock.

Album:

Night Songs is the debut studio album by American rock band Cinderella.Bad Reputation specialists have reissued CINDERELLA‘s terrific debut album ”Night Songs” in a special edition digipak including a bonus disc, all fully remastered.Hailing from Pennsylvania and fronted by charismatic vocalist / guitarist Tom Keifer, Cinderella was discovered by Jon Bon Jovi who helped to get the band signed by Mercury Records. The rest is history; “Night Songs” sold several million copies due to a combination of Cinderella’s breakthrough single ‘Nobody’s Fool’, MTV airplay, and opening slots on labelmates Bon Jovi’s tour, in support of their album Slippery When Wet.A classic in its own right, “Night Songs” is without a doubt Cinderella’s finest moment (while their second Long Cold Winter may be a close second), plenty of catchy songs and ’80s magic. The sound quality of this double disc remastered reissue is excellent, including a bonus track and a really good live disc capturing Cinderella at its prime.

Album:

Rocked, Wired & Bluesed: The Greatest Hits is a compilation album released by American rock band Cinderella in 2005, featuring tracks from their entire catalog. All songs written and arranged by Tom Keifer except, "If You Don't Like It" and "Hot and Bothered", by Keifer and Eric Brittingham.Anyone that has stumbled upon this website should already know that Cinderella is one of the greatest 80s hard rock bands, and if you haven’t heard them yet – what are you waiting for? They were able to deliver both on album and live on stage. The compilation follows the band in chronological order from their hard rock beginnings to their shift into blues-drenched rock, with both sounds being equally impressive. All of the hits are here, from the shit-kicking “Shake Me” to the massive balled “Don’t Know What You Got” and everything in between – like the experimental “Shelter Me”. The only problem is that if you already own Cinderella‘s Once Upon A… there really isn’t much need for this album – although this record includes “Fallin’ Apart At The Seams” which is one of the most underrated songs in Cinderella‘s catalog. This collection sure does bring back lots of memories though, songs like Gypsy Road were staples during my high-school partying days. The booklet is well done and features several pages of band history, complete with interviews. But this collection may only appeal to completists and new fans as it doesn’t offer anything new musically. For the real Cinderella fans the DVD version – titled Rocked, Wired & Bluesed: The Greatest Video Hits – should be the real treat.

Album:

Definitely one of the better "greatest hits" compilations floating around out there, and a dream come true for Cinderella fans seeking all the band's biggest hits on one CD. They tacked on 2 new songs at the end, but truth is, all it takes is one listen to realize both songs are total filler and nowhere near the quality we expect from Cinderella. But they're there, for those who care. Sure, you can always argue over what got left off a "greatest hits" CD, but this one gets a pretty good grade. But I always judge a compilation on what is left off, instead of what is put on! Besides the two new tracks, every song is a killer on here! In my book there are 3 songs that should have been on here! Push Push, Falling Apart At The Seams and Bad Attitude Shuffle! If you are buying this for the two new tracks, forget it. If you are buying it to see what Cinderella'a all about, this is a great place to start!

Album:

When a band like Cinderella, who only have four studio albums, get a double CD “best of” compilation, it had better be good.Fortunately Cinderella’s edition of the Gold series offers value for the money and unreleased live tracks to boot. All the Cinderella albums are represented, including the criminally underrated Still Climbing album from 1994. Cinderella did not “go grunge” as so many others did. As “Bad Attitude Shuffle” indicates, they simply doubled down on their own brand of bluesy hard rock with bite. From the same album, “Free Wheelin'” and “Talk is Cheap” both show fearless commitment to the genre. Then the ballad “Through the Rain” also from Still Climbing provides the balance. Cinderella have successfully employed ballads since day one, because they happen to be quite good at them.Among their greatest ballads: “Don’t Know What You Got (‘Til It’s Gone)”, “Heartbreak Station”, “Coming Home”, “Wind of Change”, and “Nobody’s Fool”. Each one of these tracks is worthy to be on this compilation. Some of their slower material either bordered on blues, or were just flat-out blues songs. Some are here: “Long Cold Winter”, “Dead Man’s Road”, and “Sick For the Cure”. Then there is the soulful “Shelter Me” that is harder to categorize. But of course Cinderella are best known as a hard rock band, and most of the material falls into that vast category. Many of these tunes are truly awesome. “Shake Me” was first to gain attention, with some noting similarities to AC/DC. “Hot and Bothered”, originally from the Wayne’s World soundtrack, combines the blues and rock in a tasty confection. “Second Wind” from Long Cold Winter kicks ass, and “Gypsy Road” is here too, albeit in live form. The live tracks are all credited to a Japanese promo CD called Last Train to Heartbreak Station, which appears to be a completely different thing from their Japanese EP called Live Train to Heartbreak Station. Rarities are always welcome on a compilation, but one has to wish that the great single “Gypsy Road” was also included in its studio version. It’s a good enough tune that it wouldn’t be a crime to have two versions on the same CD.Because of their feminine name and some really bad wardrobe choices, Cinderella was written off by many people without hearing any of their rocking material. While that is a real shame, Cinderella hasn’t made a new album in 23 years so this would be a good one-stop-shop to get much of their best material. Augment this baby with a copy of their classic Long Cold Winter CD and you will have enough Cinderella to have a good representation of their best stuff.
