Michael Flexig (born June 20, 1957 in Hanover) is a German singer, presenter and speaker. Michael Flexig began his career with the band Combo Colossale.The band's debut single was Dolls Don't Cry. The song became one of the hits of Neue Deutsche Welle in 1982. An album release followed. a. with the title Julia, which was released as a second single, and inside they dance Samba and the cover version (German original recording) of a Slade classic (ice and fire - My-Oh-My), both of which were only released as singles and on which Album are not represented (non-album singles).In 1983 Michael Flexig left Combo Colossale and recorded a demo with the Hanover musicians Zeno Roth and Ule W. Ritgen. This led to a contract between the band Zeno and the EMI Group. Michael Flexig joined the rock band as the lead singer.The debut album Zeno was created and was released worldwide at the beginning of 1986.In the USA, the album reached the TOP 50 of the billboard charts and stayed there for more than three months. The video clips A Little More Love and Love Will Live have been released. Zeno toured in the USA and Europe and played at major festivals, for example with Queen. In late summer 1988 Flexig left Zeno to devote himself to solo projects and more live presence.As a lead singer, Flexig had considerable public appearances. a. in 1991 in "The Jimi Hendrix concert" alongside Jack Bruce, Simon Phillips, John Wetton, Julia Neigel and. a., as well as in 1993 at "Symphonic Rock For Europe" in Liège, Belgium, in 1993 together with Uli Jon Roth, Don Airey, John Parr and the Brussels Symphony Orchestra.In 1993 the re-release of the debut album Zeno was released in Japan. Seven years after its first publication, it reached another position in the charts, namely at position 11 in Japan. In September 1993 the band was partially reunited. Michael Flexig recorded the album Zenology together with his former band colleague Zeno Roth especially for the Japanese market. The second Zeno album in Japan was released in January 1995 on the label Zero: Records. On March 8, 1995, Zenology reached No. 4 on the Japanese rock music charts, right after Bon Jovi, Van Halen and Fire-House.In 1995 Flexig took part in the production of Uli Jon Roth's album Prologue to the Symphonic Legends (pseudonym: Sky of Avalon) and contributed the lead vocals - Starlight became the album's most successful song. The album was released in Japan in January 1996 and reached number 3 on the international charts.In the same year the "Echo Park" album Pretty Lies, a joint solo project with the Eloy bassist Klaus-Peter Matziol, for which Michael Flexig had taken over the lead vocals, appeared.Pretty Lies was the follow-up to the band's debut album Echo-Park, which Flexig had sung in 1988, together with the Eloy fellow musicians Klaus-Peter Matziol, Detlev Schmidtchen and the former Eloy and Scorpions drummer Jürgen Rosenthal ( Fly to the Rainbow) had been published in the same year (see: Evidence No. 10, Paragraph 08).

Now this is a real gem; we are presenting in exclusive “Keeper Of The Flame [Japan Edition +3]”, the disc the ‘voice of Zeno‘ MICHAEL FLEXIG has put together with previously unreleased material from this fabulous band.Flexig said; “with this album I’d like to show you for the first time the most classic, authentic and fundamental songs of the band Zeno in their original versions. Many of those recordings have never been released before.”This Japanese Edition includes 3 exclusive tracks, however the European edition also packs 3 exclusive tracks… we have ’em all.The story of ZENO is entirely unique and the uniqueness of their music was always the fundamental focus of the entire band.Founded by Zeno Roth (RIP) – brother of Uli (ex Scorpions) – Zeno the band recorded all the songs presented here to shopping labels, and most of these tracks ended on Zeno’s terrific debut album.But these early takes – demos but with outstanding quality, as Roth was a perfectionist – never were heard until now, and some songs remained unreleased.The pristine sound of the recordings and the potential of the band must have been obvious to the A&R who heard this at the time.Now, the initial vocalist of Zeno Michael Flexig will take us on a time travel back to the beginning of the band just to lead us beyond the present directly into the future.“Keeper Of The Flame [Japan Edition +3]” features the very first versions of Zeno’s first album tracks with some different arrangements, plus never heard songs and alternate takes.There’s also recordings from a later period, yet featuring Michael Flexig vocals. One track that did evolve quite a bit from demo to album rendition, is “A Little More Love”, one of my favorites.That is not all. ‘Keeper Of The Flame [Japan Edition +3]’ also includes songs from a session performed at the Staccato Studios in 1987 and a 90’s session that resulted in the second album “Listen to the Light”.Some of these have been heard in compilations such as ‘Zenology’ in the past. However, according to Michael, though, they were called “remasters” but were actually “remixed”.The versions featured here , all original mixes are retained. Only modest mastering has been applied for optimal sound.Tracks 9 through 15 is the closest thing so far that the world has come to hearing what a second album featuring Michael Flexig might have sounded like. These were all recorded at the same studio (Stacatto) and have a good flow between them.Te European release has replaced 3 tracks with other 3, exclusives. So both Japan / Euro releases are essential for Zeno fans.‘Keeper Of The Flame [Japan Edition +3]’ packs 19 songs in total, most unreleased takes. Among them, Michael Flexig vocal version of “Is It Love” is a treasure that first appeared here.But all are collectible as are different versions, original takes. And the best part of it is the top class sound quality.Personally curated by Michael Flexig himself and approved by the band members and bro Uli Roth, “‘Keeper Of The Flame” is hardly a mere compilation. It will definitely be a whole new listening experience for longtime Zeno fans, and to all 80s melodic hard rock aficionados.
