Bio:

Antix was a rock band from Los Angeles California that formed in 1982 and signed with then Great White roadie Jeff Gordon. In 1984 the band had managed to secure a deal under Jeff’s management to do an EP (Get Up Get Happy) and have it marketed by Enigma Records. On top of that they got Don Dokken and Jeff Pilson to produce it. Dokken was recording "Tooth and Nail" during the day and Don and Pilson would work with Antix in the evening. In 1984 the song "Daze Gone By" appeared on Hit Parader magazine's compilation album The Wild Bunch along with such bands as Slayer, Lizzy Borden, Megadeth, Anthrax, Raven and Grim Reaper. In 1986 the band recruited bass player Robin Houde and guitarists Jesse (J.R.) Curtis and Jaye Paul into the band replacing B.J. Norris, Greg Clewley, and eventually Jace White, who went on to form the band "Serious Pleasure", which he was the lead singer and lead guitarist for. Note: Singer Fredie Vinson and bassist Dave E. Weeks were briefly the original replacements for Antix before Weeks joined Jace in forming “Serious Pleasure “, and Vinson parted ways for his own endeavors. J.R. Curtis had been playing in the band Brazil with vocalist Scott Kidd "aka" Uncle Scotty from Metal Blade Records artist Overkill L.A. and working on material with Mercury Records recording artists Legs Diamond vocalist Rick Sanford. Jaye had recently arrived in the Hollywood scene from Hawaii. At one point, J.R. considered joining "Serious Pleasure", but that plan never materialized. In 1987 after a failed attempt to get Eddie Van Halen to produce the Antix album I'll Take Your Love, Antix had completed mastering at Capitol Records and was released with Ratt / Quiet Riot guitarist Carlos Cavazo teaming up with Curtis and JP on guitar duties for the single. While supporting the album and playing the L.A. metal scene Ozzy bassist Phil Soussan and drummer Randy Castillo saw the band and asked guitarist J.R. Curtis to fill the spot vacated by Jake E. Lee in Ozzy Osbourne.Original singer Greg Clewley "aka" Gregory Darling played piano and backing vocals on Faster Pussycat's debut in 1987. Prior to that he formed a band called Darling Cool with bass player B.J. Norris and later changed the name to Darling Cruel, which released an album on Polygram. Later on, Darling sang back-up with Julian Lennon and he has released a number of solo albums on FOD records.

Album:

Pre-Serious Pleasure guitarist/singer Jace White band ANTIX, which managed to released this album in 1984 produced by Don Dokken, “Get Up, Get Happy“, reissued in CD for the first time by Retrospect Records.Co-produced by Jeff Pilson together with Don, they provided to ANTIX a punchy hard rockin’ melodic sound indeed, similar to Dokken, XYZ, early Black N’ Blue, etc. The album worked very well but unfortunately internal troubles conspired against the band’s future.ANTIX came together when members of JAILBAIT guitarist Jace White and vocalist Greg Clewley formed an alliance with the former PAX rhythm section in 1982. The band was soon to signed to Great White mentor Jeff Gordon’s McDen Productions.“Get Up, Get Happy” was produced by Don Dokken & Pilson, the duo’s working schedule so tight they split between the ANTIX album in the evenings and their own ‘Tooth And Nail’ during the day shift. You can tell there’s similarities between Antix and Dokken. However Antix’s music is more party ready, with catchier, gang-style choruses.Jace White left the band in 1985 and formed Serious Pleasure – re-recording track number 4 here, the melodic ‘Caroline’, while ANTIX continued with different line up for some time before split.Good, rare US mid-Eighties glammy melodic hard rock with a hair metal / sleazy touch.

Line Up:

Greg Clewley – vocals
Jace White – guitars, vocals
B.J. Norris – bass
Ian Evans – drums

Tracklist:

01. Daze Gone By
02. Anytime
03. Get Up, Get Happy
