Bio:

f there is one person who has dedicated their life to rock n’ roll – that would be Sally Steele. Sally started taking photos backstage of rock stars at age 14 such as Kiss, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and many more. Two years later she was off singing in local rock bands in Indiana before pursuing her singing career in Japan. Sally returned to the U.S. to Hollywood in 1980 to pursue an acting career and sing in various rock bands before starting her own. Sally was featured in many bit parts in movies, television and rock videos including “Little Lady” By Duke Jupiter, “Hungry Eyes” By Eric Carmen which were in regular rotation on MTV. Her band was also featured on MTV’s Basement Tapes in 1988.In 2004 Sally started Vegas Rocks! Magazine with no experience as a Publisher and hardly any start-up money. She worked as a limousine driver and gathered tips to produce the first issue. “I was $600 short for the money for the first issue” Sally says, “But luckily that day, I picked up a customer who wanted to go to the Brothel “Sherries Ranch” in Pahrump where I was given exactly $600 for a tip.” Sally describes the magazine as “Jumping off a cliff and learning to fly… really quick!” She launched the issue the next day from gathering content for her first issue at the Van’s Warped Tour with a camera and a tape recorder she purchased the night before. Sally interviewed the artists, wrote all the articles and took all the photos for the first issue which was released in August 2004 and was a 14 page newspaper originally titled Las Vegas Rock City News. The title was later changed to Vegas Rocks! Magazine in January 2005 when she founded Vegas Rocks Media, LLC. Sally has continued to publish the magazine for eleven years with over 129 consecutive issues which is still in print format as well.In 2010 Steele created, hosted, and produced the 1st Annual Vegas Rocks! Magazine Awards and lined up talent and sponsors . With help from musicians including Dee Snider, Lita Ford, James Kottak, Lemmy Kilmister, Glenn Hughes and many others, it was the first of her Vegas Rocks! Magazine Awards shows in Las Vegas. The 2nd Annual Vegas Rocks! Magazine Music Awards honored Vince Neil (Motley Crue), Steve Stevens (Billy Idol), John 5 (Rob Zombie/Marilyn Manson), Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge), Wayne Static (Static X) and featured Sebastian Bach, Slim Jim Phantom (The Stray Cats), Lemmy Kilmister, Steven Adler (Guns N’ Roses), Matt Sorum (Guns N’ Roses), Gilby Clarke, Little Anthony, Gilbert Gottfried and many others. The 3rd Annual Vegas Rocks! Magazine Music Awards in 2012 was streamed live to a worldwide audience on AXS TV. It featured Sammy Hagar, David Coverdale, Michael Schenker, Geoff Tate, Levi Benton (Miss May I), Vinnie Paul, DJ Ashba and many others. In 2013 the show featured Carl Palmer (Asia/ Emerson, Lake and Palmer), Jon Anderson (Yes), Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne/ Black Label Society), Laura Wilde and featured Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), Geoff Tate’s Queensryche, Chris Holmes (W.A.S.P.), Simon Wright (AC/DC), Rudy Sarzo, Robert Sarzo and many others. The 5th Annual Vegas Rocks! Magazine Music Awards took place November 23rd 2014 at the Pearl Concert Theater inside Palms Hotel and Casino. Many high profile guests were honored and attended including Nicolas Cage, Flavor Flav, Michael Anthony (Van Halen/ Chickenfoot), Steve Lukather and David Paich (Toto), Stephen Pearcy (Ratt), John 5, Rudy Sarzo, Danny “The Count” Koker and many others.Sally has plans to produce another awards show in the spring of 2016.Sally was also featured in a prominent part of the Quiet Riot Documentary “Well Now that You’re Here There’s No Way Back” which appeared on the Showtime network.Referred to as “The Publishing Queen of Rock n’ Roll, Sally continues to publish Vegas Rocks! Magazine as the head writer and photographer as well as interviewing high profile artists and celebrities for as well as the magazine. She also plans to release her first book “Rock n’ Roll Nun” – True Tales From a “Hollywood Almost” in late 2015. Sally sums it up best by saying: “I live and breathe Rock n’ Roll 24 hours a day – and I wouldn’t have it any other way!”

Album:

U.S. Melodic Hard Rock / Hair Metal originally recorded in 1988-1989.If you are into the likes of Robin Beck or Bonnie Tyler then Sally's for you.Tracks 1,2,4 & 5 and even the softy one(track #3)are very nice and catchy tunes of Melodic Hard Rock/Hard AOR/AOR...poduction could have been better but this is very typical of indie releases...enjoyable stuff to say the least. How many more gems are still out there I ask myself over and over again when I hear another new CD release which contains recordings from the Golden USA Rock period (1977-1991), because once again we have a winner here. The CD is from a female singer called SALLY STEELE, who recorded a 5-tracks counting demo (?) in 1989, with PAUL SABU as producer on a few tracks. Included is music that can only be described as sensational late 80s catchy female fronted AOR/Melodic Rock that is not far away from WITNESS, LAOS, VXN, TANTRUM, VIXEN, DONNA CRISTY (hope this girl’s record with that classic “Smile for the camera” will ever be re-issued on CD!), DEVAY, BROKEN SILENCE… Strong vocals, uptempo rockers with catchy hooks, memorable choruses and typical 80s guitarsolos, it all sounds so recognizable and once again showing a lot of talent got wasted in 1989, because the 5 songs on this SALLY STEELE CD are definitely as good as mentioned acts and so therefore why she wasn’t signed on a major label in 1989 is the big question. Recently we saw re-issues of ALEXA, ERIKA, AINA and ANNICA, but this SALLY STEELE CD is maybe even better, but I think you’ll get the picture now what to expect from this CD. Absolute highlights are the closing 2 songs, “Too bad (it had to be you” and “Leave my heart alone”, both superb classic 80s female fronted AOR/Melodic Rockers, although produced by PAUL SABU, sounding a bit more like a mix between PAT BENATAR early 80s and WITNESS, with a dash of the classic debut from PRIVATE LIFE.
