Bio:

The 4 Piece hailing from Kent formed back in late 2011, Spyder Byte are a sleaze metal band perfect for fans of Motley Crue, Twisted Sister, W.A.S.P and Motorhead.Spyder Byte's story begun out of a public school in the Medway Towns. Nathan, Connor and C.C were only 14 years old when they would form a band that would turn heads and raise questions. Why were these young boys so determined to make music based on a period they never experienced? Why did they want to make music that fewer and fewer people were interested in? The answer would become clear... In a few years' time. With the trio writing and rehearsing amongst themselves out of Connor's parents' garage, the young three-piece glam outfit decided that in order to get taken seriously, they would need a lead vocalist. Unsurprisingly, the premise of playing music with 14-year-olds with no money, who back-combed their hair, wasn't an attractive option for many people. The search would have to continue. In mid-2011, the boys would be introduced to Daniel Lawrence. Only a couple years older than the rest, Dan was open to the idea of helping Spyder Byte add a new dynamic to the sound they had been working on over the last year. The group would have their first rehearsal with Dan, who turned up with a friend, David Symonds. On that night, three became five. With Dan and David freshly added to the ensemble, the five boys continued to write and rehearse, all the way up to their first gig in September 2011 at The Rock Avenue W.M. Club in Gillingham.Following several local gigs and a rise to fame within the local scene, Spyder Byte recorded and released their debut E.P. in 2013. 'Love Bomb Ticking' gave Spyder Byte a real presence around Medway. The band continued to play around Kent and London over the next two years, meanwhile writing for their first album, a short compilation of new tracks titled "Addictive", which was released late in 2015. Only two weeks before the beginning of the recording in summer 2014, Spyder Byte saw its first line-up change, with the departure of David and the introduction of Luke Naylar.Following the release of the album, the band had to take an unwanted but necessary hiatus. Nathan had to undergo an operation on his spine only a couple of months before the album's release and wouldn't recover fully for six months. The future of the band looked uncertain. With half the band now attending university and Nathan at home recovering, the momentum seemed to be lost and it was unclear as to whether or not Spyder Byte would ever pick back up.Thankfully, the story wasn't going to end there; nowhere near, in fact. In 2016, Spyder Byte's "come back" show would take place at The Underworld, Camden, supporting Tigertailz. The year saw a new lease of life in the band, with frequent slots at Gravesend's Red Lion paving way for their first festival appearance, opening the final day of Beermageddon 2016.Over the next few years, Spyder Byte stretched into other areas of the UK and reached important milestones along the way. The band had completed their first full-length tour, as well as making appearances at acclaimed festivals such as Bloodstock Open Air and Hard Rock Hell.In late 2019 the band released their follow up to "Addictive", titled "When The Lights Go Out". With 2020 in their sites and the diary fully booked, including a tour with Jizzy Pearl's Love/Hate, things were looking bright for the year ahead. Sadly, the Covid-19 virus put a stop to all their plans for the next year. The spring lockdown provided ample opportunity for the boys to write new material, but heavily affected the morale within the band. The next two years brought a turbulent time for Spyder Byte, with a new collection of songs being written and demoed, between line-up changes. In September 2020, Luke Naylar left the band and was replaced by Robbie Weller. In 2021, the single "Double Dose" was released alongside a music video and would be the only track released while Robbie was in the band, who would depart Spyder Byte in August 2022. Less than a year before, C.C. would also call it a day with Spyder Byte, paving the way for current guitarist Steven Speck.Spyder Byte exists today as a four-piece consisting of Daniel Lawrence (vocals), Nathan Hammond (bass guitar), Connor Godfrey (drums) and Steven Speck (guitar).
