Last Autumn's Dream is a hard rock band formed in 2002 by vocalist and keyboardist Mikael Erlandsson from Sweden and guitarist Andy Malecek from the German hard rock band Fair Warning.When searching for other band members, they asked bassist John Levén, drummer Ian Haugland and keyboardist Mic Michaeli, all from the band Europe, if they were interested to be part of this new musical project and since that moment the band began working on their self-titled debut album, which was released in 2003.By the time they began working on their second album, II, Europe had reunited, and Last Autumn's Dream had to replace Levén, Haugland and Michaeli with Marcel Jacob (Talisman), Jamie Borger (Talisman, Treat) and Thomas Lassar (Crystal Blue), respectively. II was released in 2005.Thomas Lassar left the band after II, paring the band down to a quartet. The band then released the albums Winter in Paradise in 2006 and Saturn Skyline in 2007.On June 6, 2007, the band released their first greatest hits album, Impressions: The Very Best of LAD, an exclusive released for the Japanese market. The band performed at the United Forces of Rock festival in Ludwigsburg, Germany on September 30, 2007 alongside Joe Lynn Turner, Stan Bush, White Wolf, Soul Doctor, Human Zoo and Danger Danger.The band released their fifth studio album, Hunting Shadows in Japan on February 22, 2008 as well as the live album Live in Germany 2007.The sixth album release from Last Autumn's Dream is called Dreamcatcher was released for Japan on December 24, 2008 and was out in Europe on January 26, 2009.On July 21, 2009, Marcel Jacob committed suicide. He was 45 years old.Nalle Påhlsson was brought in as his replacement.The band's seventh and eighth albums, A Touch of Heaven and Yes, were both released in 2010.On December 14, 2011, the band released for Japan market their ninth studio album called Nine Lives. In this recording were included The Last to know with Jeff Scott Soto, Angel Eyes, a duet with Jenny Redenkvist and Waited A Long Time as Bonus Track.

Near to Christmas, every year, we have a new LAST AUTUMN'S DREAM out in Japan. 2018 not an exception, and "Secret Treasures" will be released tomorrow, including 4 bonus tracks. The European version will appear next year.With many of the Last Autumn's Dream members busy with other projects - i.e. Jamie Borger with Treat or Nalle Pahlsson with the upcoming great Gathering Of Kings - the band decided to include in "Secret Treasures" songs written many years ago but never used.Additionally, there's some remixes / updated versions, and singer Mikael Erlandsson own songs done in a Last Autumn's Dream - hence this release sports at the cover 'Mikael Erlandsson and Last Autumn's Dream'.I was a afraid to hear here discarded, sub-par quality songs. Well folks, not only all these songs are very good, but also Last Autumn's Dream are back rocking like they didn't in the last 10 years or so.Indeed, the recent album by Last Autumn's Dream ffound the band going for a very light sound, melodic rock very close to pop / Eurovision at places."Secret Treasures" rocks with a melodic hard pulse, bringing to mind the early days of the band, and I love it.'Eye of the Hurricane' kicks of the record with punchy drums and sharp guitars, the melodic waves characteristic of the band appears in the verses, and the chorus is infectious, with a H.E.A.T feel.Next, 'Evil' continues with stinging guitars and an even more anthemic chorus (think WET), the the soaring melodic rock shows its face on 'Pain', yet with aggressive vocals and riffs. Yeah, the spirit of Last Autumn's Dream I & II is back!I think 'Have to Let You Go' is Mikael Erlandsson song, a midtempo AOR tune with a classy Scandinavian atmosphere, 'Why' is fun and poppy melodic rock with a sweet chorus, while 'Break Another Night' is just another solid uptempo melodic rock tune with lots of harmony layers.LAD rock again, and pretty hard, with the joyful 'OK', I really love the pulse of 'When She's Gone', then Erlandsson and the guys go for a Beatlesque melody on the gentle 'Alice in Wonderland'.'Brand New Life (Remix)' is just that, a remix of one of the best songs from LAD 'II', and in my opinion oone of their best song ever, when the great, late Marcel Jacob was still in the band. uperb song with a welcomed update.Also 'Running (Remix)' and 'Up in Paradise (Remix) from the same era, and one wonders how much the band has morphed over the years. Last Autumn's Dream did a clever move with "Secret Treasures"; they keep the band alive (all members are involved into several projects) recovered old songs and recorded them with the early LAD sound & style resulting not only in one of their most rocking albums to date but one of the strongest Melodic Hard Rock albums of the year!
