Dominoe is a German rock band, which was founded in Grafing near Munich in 1987 by the guitarist Robert Pope (born December 10, 1960 in Ebersberg) and singer Jörg Sieber (born July 13, 1961 in Ulm). The band became known in early 1988 with the title Here I Am, the French car manufacturer Renault used in a commercial. The members of Dominoe had gathered first musical experiences in various student bands in the Munich area and knew each other for more than ten years. After setting up their own recording studio, the musicians tried in the mid-1980s with band names such as Flick Of The Wrist and Radius, until finally in 1987 with new singer Jörg Sieber the band Dominoe was launched. The six musicians made a top hit with their debut single. Thanks to the use of the song Here I Am in a television commercial of the car manufacturer Renault, who thus applied the model Renault 5, he rose in early 1988 in the German charts, reached there in February 4th place and held three months in the charts. The Bayern rockers were traveling in various European countries during this time and even appeared on French television. With the successor single Let's talk about life Dominoe could not build on the first success and reached only medium chart positions. The third single Family Man from the debut album Keep in Touch (1988) was only a respectable success. Then Robert Papst left the band in 1989 and appeared only as a producer for Dominoe in appearance. For him came the guitarist Markus Schiegl. Keyboarder and backing vocalist Angie Buchzyk subsequently left the band as well, trying out Angie Layne as a solo artist also produced by Pope. The second album The Key (1990), which was produced by Pope in collaboration with Harold Faltermeyer, also sold only moderately. After an accompanying tour, it came in 1991 to the dissolution of the band.Singer Jörg Sieber released a solo album in 1994 under the pseudonym Jay Seever. The single That's What You're Looking For was the title song for a Hanuta commercial. It was not until 2002 that Pope and Sieber decided on a third Dominoe album entitled No Silence ... No Lambs, which they recorded with new musicians. The fourth album The Story Is Far From Told was released in 2008 and was accompanied by some television appearances, such as the ZDF television garden, Sat.1 hit giants. For their fifth album Naked But Dressed, which appeared in 2012, first guest musicians were involved, including Jimi Jamison (singer of Survivor). In November 2018, the sixth album The Lost Radio Show was released. It consists of footage that Dominoe played in 2008 for a British radio show. Parts of these live recordings were lost at that time due to a hard drive crash, so that the planned radio program could not be transmitted. The preserved, incomplete parts were archived. Coincidentally, Robert Pope rediscovered these extracts at the beginning of 2018. Most of the songs recorded in 2008 were used for the album, only the parts that were really lost had to be re-recorded. Earlier band members and long-standing musician Pope's helped to complete and complete the recordings. Thus, Pope succeeded in capturing the atmosphere of the original session with this publication. The positive response from the music scene to the first further release of Dominoe after six years was accompanied by radio and TV interviews.
Behind the driving forces of mastermind / guitarist Robert Papst and singer Jörg Sieber, DOMINOE has been producing music / albums for over 30 years, being their first two LP must have pieces of classy Euro '80s AOR. "The Lost Radio Show" is their new album to be released by Pride & Joy tomorrow, and not, it isn't a live recording, but a wonderful piece of classic Melodic Rock.Robert Papst is a renowned producer and advertising maker nowadays, but from time to time play some gigs with Dominoe. The material for "The Lost Radio Show" was originally recorded for a British radio show in 2008, 'live into the studio', multi-tracked and with CD quality. The planned radio show never happened, and parts of these recordings were lost at the time because of a hard disk crash. The incomplete tapes ended up in Papst's archives.By chance, Papst discovered these "tapes" again in the year 2018. Most of the tracks from the original sessions were used and only the truly lost parts have been newly recorded. Former Dominoe members and longtime musical friends helped to complete the album. The song selection cover the entire Dominoe career since formed, re-worked with the band's current sound, more melodic rock oriented. As you see in the album artwork, this is trip back to the '80s through excellent songs in this genre, revitalized and updated to the new century mastered at L.A. by Grammy winner Gavin Lurssen.
