Bio:

Dead Of Night was formed in 2013 by composer Carl Eden as a vehicle for an album that he had in mind at the time. He quickly recruited singer Courtney Cecere and together they set about creating the bones of what would later become "The Dead Shall Rise". After recording three songs, it became apparent that a guitarist was needed to replace the programmed guitar parts and luckily, a friend of a friend introduced Carl to guitarist Hadian Gates. Hadian recorded stunning guitar parts for the songs and, together with Courtney’s smooth yet powerful multitracked vocals and Carl’s intricate orchestral and synth arrangements, the Dead of Night concept was complete. Work continued on the album in Carl’s home studio for the next nine months with Courtney and Hadian coming in to record their parts on a song-by-song basis. Carl would record drums, bass and some guide keyboards and then Hadian would flesh out the guitar parts. Once Courtney had recorded her vocals, Carl would build complex orchestral arrangements around what was already recorded. Finally, in June 2014, "The Dead Shall Rise" was self-released and quickly gathered some excellent reviews. Martin Howell of Power Play was extremely complimentary giving the album 8 Powerpoints and saying that Dead of Night had 'produced a stunning debut album full of songs that deserve to be heard live'. He then went on to say that the band should complete their line-up, go on the road and 'make a name for themselves'. The band hadn’t previously considered a live show, but this was something that Carl was now determined to work towards, however Courtney felt unable to move forward in this area due to other commitments and so she left the band in early 2015. There followed a long and sometimes painful struggle to find a replacement singer. A number of vocalists auditioned over the next few months but none had that Dead Of Night sound until, in September, Carl came across Briony Featon on a band personnel website. A journey to her hometown, Morecambe, an outstanding audition and Briony was recruited on the spot! Drummer Dave Gudgeon soon followed and by the end of 2015 Dead Of Night were ready for rehearsals. It was also decided that, to aim for a more unified experience, the band would re-record their first album with the new personnel under the title "The Dead Shall Rise Again". Their inaugural gig at The Railway Venue in Bolton was a huge success however, very soon afterwards Hadian decided to call it a day and, once again, the band was looking for a replacement. This eventually came in the shape of Dan Roberts, another denizen of Morecambe! At the same time, by chance, Carl came across bass player Jason Peacock and finally the line-up was complete ... or so they thought! Unfortunately Dave decided to part from the band in October 2016, which instead of raising concerns, encouraged our keyboardist 'Carl' to start a brand-new adventure as the bands drummer! Carl has previous drumming experience and has absolutely outstanding rhythmic ability, proving this was his rightful place all along! What happened with the keys, we hear you cry? Our merchandise/creative media organiser/designer has put her talented fingers to musical greatness and will be joining the rest of DON on stage as of January 2017! Dead Of Night's brand-new album, called "In Search Of Ancient Magic" will be self-released on February 24, 2017. Watch out for one of the UK's leading female-fronted symphonic rock bands!

Album:

Dead Of Night is a five piece symphonic rock band with members from various parts of the UK. Formed in 2013 by composer Carl Eden as a vehicle for an album that he had in mind at the time and with the release of "The Dead Shall Rise" in 2014, they began receiving much critical acclaim. Following on from the success of this self-released debut album, the band went on to rerecord their first album under the title "The Dead Shall Rise Again". This was accompanied by their first live performance at The Railway in Bolton, UK, which spurred them on to continue gigging across the UK. Their second release, titled "In Search Of Ancient Magic", saw progression and them reaching new heights in terms of what Dead Of Night are capable of. "The musicianship is absolutely outstanding and this band is knocking on the door of the Premier League indeed they may already be there", says Dave Smith of Ravenheart Music. "The Evolving Science Of Self" is the title of their new album which was produced, mixed and mastered by Carl Eden at The Creative Room in Manchester, UK.Carl comments: "This is our fourth studio album and, I think, our strongest so far. The title comes from that fact that we are really interested in consciousness and perception and the way that science and spirituality are starting to overlap. Plus, if you read the lyrics, it all sounds like a session on the psychiatrist's couch".Words from Heinrich Rohrer: "Over the past four years we have shared 'Ghost Stories', travelled to 'The Other Side Of The Rain', and now we invite you to 'Set The Night On Fire'. We can't wait to share this new and exciting chapter with you.""Science means constantly walking a tightrope between blind faith and curiosity, between expertise and creativity, between bias and openness, between experience and epiphany and between ambition and passion - in short: between an old today and a new tomorrow."If you like melody married with power, emotion joined with passion, then you have to listen to this amazing band!
