Nanowar Of Steel are a parody-fun-metal band from Rome, Italy. Formed in 2003 as NanowaR they published a demo entitled “True Metal Of The World” and a second one called Triumph Of True Metal Of Steel which feature classic metal songs revisited like Master Of Pizza (Metallica's Master Of Puppets) and Emerald Fork (Rhapsody's Emerald Sword) as well as own songs with parodic and nonsense lyrics. With this work the band starts to be known in underground metal scene.In 2005 they release their first self-produced full length album Other Bands Play Nanowar Gay. Besides receiving many Best Album awards (from the magazine DarkCity, the webzines DarkSide.ru and MetalStorm among the others) it allows the band to perform several gigs all around Italy and to join their first international event, the Z7 Metal Dayz Festival in Pratteln (Switzerland).In 2007, shortly after changing their name from Nanowar to Nanowar Of Steel they release a double album entitled Made In Naples containing the whole Z7 live performance recordings and a second CD with previously unreleased songs and new versions of the elder ones. In May and October of the same year they also perform their first two European tours, headlining tens of gigs in Italy, Spain (joining the Martohell Festival), France, Austria, Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia, Germany, Switzerland (where they headline the True As Steel Festival in Bülach), Bulgaria, Greece, Holland and Belgium.In 2008 they start the recordings of their second full-length Into Gay Pride Ride, published only in September 2010, and several European tours.In April 2012 they release the videoclip for a new single entitled “Giorgio Mastrota” which in a few weeks reaches over 100.000 viewers on YouTube.In 2013 they start cooperating with “Feudalesimo e Libertà”, a well-known Italian pseudo-parody political movement which advocates the return of the Empire and Feudal Rights in Europe.In February 2014 a new release, A Knight At The Opera, is out. The album includes the latest singles, some old hits re-recorded, a new song in Italian “Il Cacciatore della Notte” and a new song in German, Russian, Spanish and Serbo-croatian language. The album is released with a DVD containing the 2007 live performance in Buelach, Switzerland, at the True As Steel Festival.In January 2016 they release an EP entitled Tour-Mentone Vol. 1 that features four among the best songs composed for the "Tourmentone 2015" summer tour as well as an English version of their Italian hit “Giorgio Mastrota” retitled “George Mastrothard (the Keeper of Stainless Steel)”.

They absolutely nail this sound and will leave the biggest smile on faces. How can’t you enjoy the catchy Barbie, MILF Princess of the Twilight, the madness of The Call of Cthulhu and the fist-pumping call to arms that is L’Opelatole Ecologico!?It’s constantly fun and very easy to enjoy as it’s about as complex as an already completed game of Connect 4. Even their ballads (…And Then I Noticed That She Was A Gargoyle) refuses to take itself seriously but is such a ‘lighter in the air’ tune too.Considering it’s 18 tracks long, by the end you kind of find yourself wanting more. It’s just such a relief to see a band really enjoying themselves. The latter half of the album continues the good work laid down by the first half with the rousing Vegan Velociraptor and a straight-up horn-throwing metal number in Uranus.They can play and they can play really well. Stairway to Valhalla is utterly brilliant.
