BATTLERAGE is a heavy metal band from Santiago, Chile, born in 2002 as a personal project of the ex drummer of STEELRAGE, Francisco Vera, who wanted to play a hard and noisy heavy metal. Vera left STEELRAGE and contacted Mauricio Cavalla (guitar, member of AFTERLIFE) to compose the first songs of his newly born band, and a few months later Christian Willembrinck (bass, former member of STEELRAGE) and Fox-Lin Torres (voice, ex DAMA NEGRA) joined Vera's project.In February 2003, after the release of their first demo "Metal Slaughter", which had a very good reception among fans of the genre, the band began to play in some shows. A few months after the release of "Metal Slaughter" Alejandro Oliva (guitar, former member of AKRAMEN) joined BATTLERAGE and in December of the same year he recorded with the band his second demo "Return Of The Axeman".2004 was a roller coaster of good times and alignment changes. The band signed a recording contract with Highland Records / Octagon Music Group, but unfortunately Mauricio Cavalla had to leave BATTLERAGE for personal reasons. Cavalla was replaced by Nicolás Arce before the recording of the full-length debut, "Steel Supremacy" which was released in November 2004. This album, like the demos, had a great reception among the Chilean public. Not long after this, another member of the band left. Alejandro Oliva stopped being part of BATTLERAGE to work on his own project and was replaced by Daniel Román (member of VALKIRIA).Another good year for BATTLERAGE came in 2005. With many shows ahead and a new recording on the way, an EP called "Battlefield Belongs To Me" that was a kind of "trailer" for a long-term follow-up, its success on the scene of metal in Chile was confirmed. Unfortunately this EP was delayed due to seal problems. Later in 2005, guitarist Nicolás Arce left the band to concentrate on his own group called LOST HIGHWAY (which split off early 2006) and was replaced by Luis Arenas.In May of 2006 "Battlefield Belongs To Me" finally came out and won again very good reviews. Christian Willembrinck had to leave the band, being replaced later by Rodrigo de la Hoz (member of ABHORRENT, former ANIMA IMMORTALIS). Even in 2006 BATTLERAGE recorded what should be their second album, but sadly, due to problems with their previous label, this material never saw the light of day.The two demos of 2003 were limited to 200 copies and were no longer available for a long time. Being one of the lucky ones who had them, Metal On Metal Records thought it was a pity that these anthems of real heavy metal did not were available for a larger audience and decided to re-release both demos on a CD in November 2008, remixed and remastered, under the title "The Slaughter Returns", with a new art, a 20-page booklet with letters and informative notes and 2 additional songs 2008 also saw the release of the limited audio tape "Living Slaughter" (Morbillus Records), which contains live tracks of the band's shows in February 2004 and December 2006.At the end of 2008 BATTLERAGE entered the studio to record the songs of their second unreleased album again. The fact that they had to do it, since they were not the owners of the rights of the old recording, only worked in their favor, since the musical interpretation and the sound improved. Meanwhile Rodrigo de la Hoz left and Nicolás Arce played bass on the album as a session musician, but in 2009 Felipe Vuletich (member of WITCHBLADE) joined the band.The long awaited new studio album "Blood, Fire, Steel" finally came out in September 2009 under Metal On Metal Records. Recorded, mixed, mastered and produced by Nicolás Arce who also played the bass on this album, and adorned with the precise art of Gonzalo Ordóñez, sounds just like a real heavy metal album should sound.During 2010 and 2011 BATTLERAGE played in several concerts, the most important being the support shows with U.D.O. and SAXON.The band continued working on their next album, "True Metal Victory." Just before the recordings guitarist Luis Arenas left the ranks and the band included Gabriel Hidalgo for some additional guitar solos. This album was mastered in September 2011 and came out on October 28th through Metal On Metal Records. The battle for True Metal continues! This epic and blunt metal block with aggressive riffs, crushing drums, heartbreaking voices and choruses to scream in unison, is meant to raise the fists of every true metal fan!In May of 2012 the compilation "Battlefield Supremacy" came out through RAW Metal (a division of Metal On Metal Records) in pro tape format, limited to 66 copies. It contains the album "Battlefield Supremacy" of 2004 plus 4 subjects of study

After seven years of waiting, the fourth studio album of the traditional Chilean metallers BATTLERAGE is now available, which is named "Dreams In Darkness" and distributed by Metal On Metal Records. The band is quirkily fascinating and reminiscent of both US Metal influences such as ICED EARTH and Teutonic 80's steel exhibits such as GRAVE DIGGER and the Swabians of TYRANT, but their biggest selling point is very much here idiosyncratic singer Fox-Lin Torres. Definitely worth a listen to Bandcamp.
