"Deep Cuts & Rarities" is a Limited Edition 15 track compilation CD made by Rat Pak Records that includes 9 rare unreleased and 6 previously released cover songs which are performed by various artists from the Rock and Hard Rock genres.The release features mostly classic songs from the '70s & '80s but also includes a solo acoustic version of CAM's "Burning House" performed by Sevendust guitarist John Connolly and a recently recorded live version of John Corabi performing The Screams' "Man in the Moon" which was recorded during his "Live 94" tour.Other featured artists on this release include dUg Pinnick (King’s X), Todd La Torre (Queensryche), Metal Church, Michael Angelo Batio, Mark Tremonti, Chuck Garric (Alice Cooper), Vixen, Dave Rude (Tesla), Kurdt Vanderhoof (Metal Church), Roxanne, Lynch Mob, Presto Ballet, Beasto Blanco, Tommy Baldwin, Jeff Plate (Trans-Siberian Orchestra), and Craig Blackwell.We have already presented a couple of songs in our Advanced Releases Sampler, such as Todd La Torre's take on Heart's classic "Barracuda" in a killer version, and Metal Church cover of "Please Don't Judas Me" (Nazareth). Metal Church isn't among my tastes, but musically they nailed this melodic song.And this is one of the charm of this compilation; artists which usually you don't listen to, making a covers of some of your favorite songs.It's very fun to hear dUg Pinnick performing The Alan Parsons Project's classic I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You" done with dUg's characteristic bluesy / funk style.There's a great cover as well of "Feed My Frankenstein" [Alice Cooper], and rare, never heard Vixen cover of 'Humble Pie's “I Don’t Need No Doctor” [Humble Pie] and featuring Share Ross on vocals.Another highlight is Lynch Mob's cover of "Burnin' Sky" [Bad Company], a bass-driven, groovy take on this great song.
