Bio:

Tomorrow's Eve is a progressive metal band, that originated from Germany. The band has released four albums, the first being in 1999. They have played live shows as recently as December 23, 2006.TOMORROW'S EVE is another of the Teutonic prog metal bands with which the market becomes flooded lately. The music is guitar / keyboard driven - a warm crunching guitar at that, with even warmer atmospheric keyboards to complement. Musically, this is signature German melodic prog metal not too far out of the ball park from bands like DREAM THEATER, VANDEN PLAS and IVORY TOWER.On their second album, you will like those long song passages, check out the 8:47 "Voyager," the 12:27 "Changes," and the 7:40 "Descent Into Insanity" for starters; that should give an idea of where this band has its priorities. This is definitely classy material, and comes highly recommended for those of you who cannot get enough of German melodic prog metal like me.

Album:

Saarbrücken, Germany, Progressive Metal veterans Tomorrow’s Eve have returned with their 5th full-length album. The band released their first album “The Unexpected World” in 1999. Tomorrow’s Eve theatrical themes and powerful songwriting chops will move the listener and have seen the band receive acclaim from fans and critics both.Mirror of Creation III wastes no time hitting its stride with opener “Welcome To the Show.” A lilting piano motif explodes into a mid-tempo steamroll of sound. Vocalist Martin Lemar has a powerful, dynamic, delivery which serves the music perfectly. Listeners with an inclination for progressive rock that can be at times crushingly heavy will revel in the sounds of the 2nd track “Morpheus.” The band expertly shift from mid-tempo approaches to vocal segues to all-out power within the scope of the songs 7-minute running time.Tomorrow’s Eve seems cognizant of their considerable songwriting skills and uses them to great effect to create a varied, dense, listening experience. Case in point: the introduction passage to track 4 “Imago” which sounds unlike anything else on the record thus far. Drum programming and keyboards meld together to create an excellent launchpad for the song. “Law and Order” has countless changes in arrangement complete with a memorable chorus, expert guitar work, and gigantic vocal sections.Track 8 “Terminal” explodes with a nimble keyboard line which elevates into an even more dramatic passage. The song features some stop on a dime time changes and gigantic arrangement variations. “Inner Sanctum” showcases Mike Lepond’s considerable bass skills. Something he undoubtedly honed during time spent playing with prog giants Symphony X. Lepond begins the song with a bass solo before the rest of the band solidifies one of the best grooves on Mirror of Creation III.On the topic of band members: keyboardist Oliver Schwickert colours the entirety of the record with subtle, tasteful, playing. Case in point: the track “Somnium Ex Machina” begins with a gorgeous piano motif which shifts into a riff, not unlike something Seattle legends Alice in Chains would use. The chorus at the end of the aforementioned song may be the high mark of the album. Tomorrow’s Eve is true to their vision and the vocals and lyrics are thematically similar to the rest of the album. If dense atmosphere, expert songwriting, catchy choruses, and totally fucking epic music are your thing, prepare to meet your masters in Tomorrow’s Eve. Be sure to check out the band further and keep your ears ready for when the album is released May 25, 2018.
