Accept is a German heavy metal band from the town of Solingen, originally assembled by former vocalist Udo Dirkschneider, guitarist Wolf Hoffmann and bassist Peter Baltes. Their beginnings can be traced back to the late 1960s. The band played an important role in the development of speed metal, being part of the German heavy metal scene, which emerged in the early to mid-1980s.Following their disbandment in 1997 and short-lived reunion in 2005, Accept reunited again in 2009 with former T.T. Quick frontman Mark Tornillo replacing Dirkschneider and released their two highest charting albums to date, Blood of the Nations and Stalingrad.They have sold over 17 million albums worldwide

Universal Music Germany has just reissued ACCEPT's "Hungry Years - Remixed". After the success of the band's album 'Balls To The Wall' and their entry into the American market with 'Metal Heart', Accept and their recording label agreed to make a compilation of their early catalog, at the time unreleased in the US.But according to times (1986), these songs needed a 'second half of the '80s feel', a more polished sound, so they remixed the whole thing.Short and to the point, "Hungry Years" includes some of the best selections from Accept's early catalog, including the LP's "I'm a Rebel", "Breaker", and the metal classic "Restless and Wild". Rightfully, nothing is selected from the band's eponymous 1979 debut.All three songs culled from "Restless And Wild - including the title track, "Princess of the Dawn", and "Fast as a Shark" - are career highlights for Accept, not just the early era covered on "Hungry Years".The tracks taken from the other two albums are among the best each have to offer, such as "The King" and "Midnight Highway.In short, on "Hungry Years - Remixed" these Accept first half of the '80s songs were remixed to make it sound second half of the '80s.You know, there's a lot of reverb added to the snare drum, phaser y delays here and there to appeal the US hard rock fans.It's fun to listen to, as example, the song 'Fast As a Shark' sounding more 'glossy' and Udo's vocals 'soften', almost melodic, and a track delay-end different from the original.If Accept's early albums always sounded too much 'European & metallic' to your years, you need to check out "Hungry Years - Remixed". All these remixes turned the songs pretty Americanized circa 1985-86.
