Dylem is a Swiss melodic rock/hard rock band founded by Melody Dylem (vocals - songwriter) and Don (keyboardist – composer). Before their meeting, Melody Dylem had become known through the Little Dreams Foundation where she will have the opportunity to sing a duet with singer Phil Collins (Genesis). Don had meanwhile played with several bands of different styles in Switzerland, in particular with the American singer Eric St. Michaels (China).When they met, Melody Dylem and Don will first play together piano-vocal covers of hard rock standards which they perform live. Gradually the idea of creating their own songs emerged. The duet started to record demos in their home studio. Meanwhile, Melody Dylem became lead singer / songwriter in a symphonic metal band.At the end of 2014, Dylem gathered among its compositions 9 songs of melodic rock/hard rock containing also progressive parts for its first self titled album "Dylem".In early 2015, the members of Dylem worked with studio musicians to record the first single "Walk Away". A music video of the single was realized, which will be broadcast on several Swiss channels. The band recorded a second title at the same time, in French, "Pluie de Cristal".In the summer of 2015, Dylem decided to surround itself with permanent musicians to record the other songs of the album. Dylem sign for this first album with the label 7Hard in Germany and will have the opportunity to collaborate for the artwork with the designer Hugh Syme (Dream Theater, Rush, Whitesnake).

This is my first contact with Mélody Dylem, a pop, rock and metal singer from Switzerland. And it will surely not be my last, because she has a very good voice in which man can fall in love fast. Although Ms Dylem first joined the Symphonic-Metal band ELFERYA in 2015, DYLEM seems to have come up with a desire for a second musical stand, which, however, has little to do with Metal. Musically, I am pleasantly reminded here again and again about the work of the Mexican Marcela Bovio, one of my great favorites. At STREAM OF PASSION, the way of composition, which oscillates between the thoughtfulness and the euphoria, always focuses precisely on the vocal melody. But also ELFONÍA, Bovio's earlier band comes to mind when DYLEM's music goes a bit in the direction of melancholic prog rock, and is sung alongside the standard English also in the mother tongue (here: French).Now, please do not think DYLEM would abdicate with anyone. The STREAM OF PASSION comparison is intended primarily to point out that the target group can expect the highest quality of this debut, which has already convinced a few prominent people. One of them is artwork artist Hugh Syme (among others, works for RUSH, ARENA, or DREAM THEATER), who is explicitly grateful for the fact that he believes in a fresh, young band, and has designed "Dylem" a customary inner life. And Symes' illustrations, such as a skinned piano in an icy winter landscape, a rose growing in the desert, a mother with her child and an umbrella, or simply the shadow of painted notes) often reflect on piano and gentle strings Based but always pushing into epic latitudes and then goosebumps spread rock music perfectly.Speaking of the band: DYLEM is so far "only" a duo, which forms Mélody with a certain Donovan. The album was recorded by additional studio musicians. But it looks as if they want to form a real band. So maybe there is the chance to experience these great songs live. For even if the Übersong is missing for eternity ('Walkaway' and 'Dilemma' are close), "Dylem" is a very strong album. And as we have not known since SOPHIE HUNGER - another great Swiss woman - French is a very elegant singing language. More of that!
