Hard driving, ass shaking rock n roll.Volcano Dogs guitarist Rob Tabachka and I first met in the eighties while he was working at the legendary Pittsburgh record store, Eides and I was calling him on the phone regularly from various record labels to do tracking. We'd see each other whenever I came to Pittsburgh while touring with bands. Eventually he told me about his band Eviction and we worked together when we signed the band to Metal Blade Records in 1989.Here we are years later and Tabachka is still at it and several bands later has one of his best bands of his career in tow. Volcano Dogs brand new sophomore effort "Fearless Leader", the follow up to the 2015 self titled debut/Rat Records which will have the song "1970" featured in the upcoming Classic Rock Magazine as one of the best songs on 2017, is scheduled for December 15 release, is a solid effort filled with superb straight forward punk rock n roll anthems like "Mean Street Kids", "Blow It All Away", and "Rocket Ride Superfine."Along with the surefire tunes, the vinyl version of "Fearless Leader" is beautifully packaged and comes on limited purple vinyl and worth every penny both sonically and visually.Tabachka, joined by singer/lyricist Bruce Lentz, bassist Dan Ford, and drummer Max Terasauro.

Very much like an early Metallica with a Sex Pistols chorus. I’m hearing a bit of Headstones in “Rocket Ride Superfink” but on a very limited level. Opening track “Blow It All Away” tries to be punk, but for some reason I just don’t buy it. It’s not a bad tune, but seems to be a wink between the best of 70s British punk and Green Day.
