Valhalla lights were forged from the relentless pursuit and creative journeys of Phoebe Black, George Christie, Brent Crysell and Deon Driver. All had been long standing members of other bands including Fort and Sydney bands Tax and King Clam.It was not long after this union when disaster struck.Phoebe tragically passed away 6 months after the conception of the band and suddenly time stood still..for a moment, all was lost.Just 6 days before Phoebe died, she had put down 9 solid tracks that we recorded onto a mixing desk in our rehearsal studio. They were so good and so raw, they left us in awe, knowing that even though she was gone and not with us anymore, we could re-record the music and finish what we all had set out to do.And that’s exactly what we did.Phoebes work will feature on our debut release set for the end of 2014..and we’re excited about commemorating Phoebes work.Well, here we are almost 12 months later with a new record, renewed passion and a new singer!The very talented Ange Saul THE BLACK LULLABY has now joined this relentless pursuit and our new creative journey!We feel EXTREMELY lucky to have found Ange who has not only become a part of this journey, but has taken all of our ideals to a whole new level.Since Ange has been with us, our live shows have gone from strength to strength and have been an integral part of Valhalla Lights sound..and we pride ourselves on delivering that energetic and powerful show..punishing the stage with volume and intensity.Valhalla Lights sound is a juggernaut of heavy riffs coupled with sonic power and soaring majestic melodies.With Ange we feel as though our songs, sound and direction is the beginning of a journey set to take us to greater levels of musical exploration.Recording of our new record has begun and you will have Ange on your stereo in 2015..

BYRON BAY rockers Valhalla Lights have announced their new album, My Gracious Highway.The band has recorded 13 tracks and they are planning to release one song per month online for 12 months, plus one song on the last day of the year.The first song, Rise Above, will be out tomorrow to mark the beginning of their music year.The full album in CD format will be released at the end of the year.The band's drummer, Deon Diver, said they wanted to have a different approach to releasing this album."(Have you) ever been in a space of going inwards, complete introspection and getting lost in deeper conversations of life?" he asked."(Have you ever been in a space) about facing all your demons head on and in a way that leaves you naked with vulnerability, uncomfortable and pushing the realms of darkness in order to reach the other side, a side where life feels lighter and free from adversity? Where you rise above your demons?"Well that's Rise Above; it's a song that's heavy. So heavy, in fact, that it reflects the heaviness of its themes in its sonic delivery."Valhalla Lights are returning to Sydney for a live show at Frankie's Pizza this Sunday accompanied by rock bands Dead City Ruins, The Brokeback Mtn Boys, Archaic Revival, Screaming Eagles and Black Rheno.
