VALIDOR was formed in Athens, back in 2005 by songwriter, guitarist and lead vocalist Odi “Thunderer”. The original name of the band was EPIC STORM under which their first demos were recorded.In 2008 after a line-up change and the addition of guitarist Nick Fra, the band changed the name to VALIDOR.Next year, the band with two new members, bassist Chris Bizoulas and drummer Apollo Giannoulis, entered "Sound Symmetry Studios" to record their debut album entitled“IN BLOOD, IN BATTLE” that released through Eat Metal Records. During the recordings, Nick departed from the band and was replaced by Bob Katsionis as guest musician (FIREWIND, SEPTIC FLESH, NIGHTFALL, OUTLOUD, CASUS BELLI, STAR QUEEN, IMAGINERY, SOLO).The sound of VALIDOR is comprised of thrash and epic metal elements, constant rhythm changes, pummeling guitar riffs and fast and diverse vocals.The lyrical themes are influenced by fantasy heroes like Robert. E. Howard’s "Conan", Michael Moorcock’s "Elric of Melnibone" and Stephen King’s "Dark Tower", as well as tales of ancient battles and pirates.Meanwhile they gained a good status in underground Heavy Metal community with many die hard fans!In May, 2012, Odi and his fellows, entered again the studio in order to record their new opus, ”THE DAWN OF THE AVENGER”! In between their tracks they decided to involve a cover in Manilla Road’s “HOUR OF THE DRAGON” just to show their dedication!Odi made the production of the album along with Bob Katsionis. He also had a great collaboration with the famous artist Miguel Serrano, he was responsible for the cover artwork.From now on VALIDOR are going to be one man band with Odi "Thunderer" on the vocals and lead-rhythm guitars having only session musicians to accomplish the album! “DAWN OF THE AVENGER” is out, and once again seems that they show us the WAY OF STEEL!

Validor, or I should better say Odi since we’re talking about a strictly one – man band, became widely known in 2011 with his promising release “In Blood, In Battle” and even more, with his most commercially successful and utterly exciting release “Dawn of the Avenger” (2012). These two records have raised our expectations, along with the great anticipation. Four years later, Validor are back with the full length release at hand.In “Hail to Fire” I would say that we have a result between the two predecessors. There’s the more epic atmosphere of the first album, but the most catchy and heavy / power moments of the second are floating around as well. Generally, one would say that this combination is a good thing. And indeed the release has its moments. There’s also the Greek folk element scattered from the introduction to the “To The Last Man” (which sounds like the “Zeimbekiko of Evdokia). Additionally, there is a fantastic tribute to Poledouris mainly with the “Winds of Atlantis / Under the Sign of Crom” and secondarily with the “Hail to Fire, Hail to Steel” and generally fans of epic sound will find many things to like. Somewhere there, however, lie moments we’ve listened to beforehand. A bit of Manowar, some Warlord, Manilla Road… The album in any case is not bad and it gets better and better with every hearing, but personally and influenced by its predecessor, I expected something more. The fans can invest fearlessly.
