ZiX is a heavy metal band which was formed in Beirut in 2010 by composer/bassist Ziad Bardawil who had already been working on his own projects since 1998.Ziad joined forces with Maya Khairallah in 2012 after meeting the guitarist Juan Carrizo in Germany and they decided to record a debut ep . In December 2015 two new members joined the band, Walid Awar on the guitars and Ziad Al Alam on the drums.In 2012, they self-produced a demo EP entitled "The WarWhore", and are currently working on the full length album.Grammy-winning music producer who mixed for a young Guns N' Roses, Yngwie, Anthrax, Kiss, Metallica.. has joined rising Middle East heavy metal band ZiX to break down barriers to metal music in this part of the world. 7x Grammy-winning producer and hard rock legend Steve Thompson has agreed to mix Zix’s upcoming album entitled "Tides of the final war" along with the song “Metal Strike,” which features many metal legends from Iron Maiden, MANOWAR and Black Sabbath and many others.Formed in 2010 in Beirut, Zix’s goal is to illuminate the oppression of metal heads and lift the ban on heavy metal in this part of the world. For years, metal music lovers, aka metal heads, have been oppressed by various religious and political institutions here, resulting in cancelled concerts and unjust arrests. With this project, Zix hopes to break down these barriers for good."Beirut, Lebanon’s heavy metal act Zix, who received big attention with 2012 EP The WarWhore, have signed a worldwide deal with Pure Steel Records. Due out on October 28th is the debut full length album from Zix, “Tides Of The Final War”.A heavy metal band from Lebanon with a killer sound and amazing female vocalist, this band is going to quickly make a name for themselves internationally. Zix is a true heavy metal band, in a very pure and heavy way.This group is made up of five artists, most instantly attention grabbing is vocalist Maya Khairallah. Her vocals are exceptional, soaring and intense. Bassist Zlad Bardawll, guitarists Juan Carrizo and Walid Awar put on an exceptional performance on this album. Finally, Ziad Alam on drums fills out the bands roster. In 2012 the band released an EP titled “The WarWhore” with then drummer Kenny Earl Rhino.This album is masterfully mixed and performed, the amount of emotional depth and character, this is truly a momentous album. There a so many amazing songs but a few deserve special mention. “Tides Of The Final War” Is full of vicious riffs, searing vocals all set at a blistering fast pace. The rhythm is so catchy and mind sticking. The next track that is more than worthy of extra recognition is “Metal Strike”, this song was written about the oppression of head bangers in the Near East region. This song is an amazing compilation of artists all trying to make a stand. The list of guest musicians on this track is a mile wide but to name a few; Tony Marin (Black Sabbath), Blaze Bayley (Iron Maiden), Paul Di’Anno (Iron Maiden), Ross The Boss (ex. Manowar, Death Dealer), the list goes on and on. Be sure to check out this song its nothing short of phenomenal. This album is amazing and every time I play it through I’m finding something else I love.
