Info:

John Piette (guitar/vocals) has recorded a new CD of his original songs for his band, AUGUST, titled "Street Smart". John has reunited with former AUGUST members, Jerry Bozic (drums) and Scott O'Brien (guitar/vocals) to work on this long awaited CD project. In addition to the AUGUST players, John has invited very talented singers and musicians to participate in the project. Jeff Bowers on vocals and Steve Mindak on bass/vocals for the project.Due to requests Worldwide for information and questions about the band "AUGUST", founder/guitarist, John Piette has published this site to answer those questions and to make available recordings, both old and new to the public for the first time in 10 years! This site is also intended to Thank all the great musicians and crew that were a part of making August so successful. Without all involved, this site would not be warranted today. The Crew:Joe Edwards, the best Road Manager/Personal Manager Ever!Bob Turak, a great Sound Engineer who was responsible for helping August sound great every night. He's also a great drummer!Chuck Arnaud, his imagination and talents for lighting set August apart from the other touring bands at the time. There were several incarnations of August. The first August was responsible for the 45rpm record released in 1978 with the songs, On My Mind and Bring It On Home. The record was unusual for a band to release at the time and went on to receive extensive airplay in the local markets.Musicians: John Piette, Daryl Breeden, Bill Watson, Danny Murphy, and Aaron Murphy.Road Manager: Andy Finnerty.Moving to a new direction, John Piette went to the recording studio as a solo artist and recorded an LP of original songs entitled: August, featuring John Piette and Friends. This LP is often referred to as the black album. Not having a replacement band yet, John brought in friends to perform and establish the basis for which August became known. The record features: Bill Weisband/vocals, Nick Pizzola/drums, Mike Smoot/bass and legendary guitar master, Ray Brand on guitar and slide.Mike and Ray had come to Virginia from the South with another local band called Buckeye. The second August which began performing extensively throughout the Mid-Atlantic market in support of the black album consisted of:John Piette, Steve Allison, Howard Brundage, Doug Allen (of Cherry Smash fame) and Jerry Bozic. Jerry was replaced by former Kix drummer, Donnie Spence. The third August which became "THE AUGUST" of the 80's saw the concerts grow bigger and became a regular on the National Circuit performing with acts such as Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush, Johnny VanZant, the B52's and Foghat. This August was picked as one of the top 5 bands in the WashingtonDC/Baltimore market and their original, In The Middle Of The Night, was featured on the WAVA rock stations, "Washington Rocks" LP.The band was: John Piette, Bill Weisband, Howard Brundage, Scott O'Brien and Dave Jenkins. Frontman Bill Weisband would leave after years of touring and was replaced by Mike McManus. After 12 years of non-stop touring, John took the band off the road to concentrate on a solo career and new album. At this time John's "studio" August band was featured on the National TV show, "Jams, Inc."As a break John accepted the role as guitarist for a Touring Mid-West band, McArthur Park, which was based out of Chicago. After a short stint with the band, John returned to Virginia. In the early 90's, John put together another August with the sole intention of the band being a studio band to complete the recording of his long awaited solo album.Due to frontman, Glenn Ralph's "Dio" style vocals, John wrote the heaviest August material of his career during this time. Due to demand from John's management and booking agencies, he did agree to perform a limited number of "live" shows. Alot of new originals were recorded during this time. The band was: John Piette, Glenn Ralph, Carl Jones and Marty Green. The band performed as a "power trio" for the first time in August history. Ralph Surface was added later as a 2nd guitarist.John had performed as a sound engineer prior to August and at this time he picked up engineering as a diversion and worked extensively in the WashingtonDC/Maryland/Virginia markets as a sound engineer. This journey took John through many of the major halls and theaters as well as the Patriot Center and a management position at the Nissan Pavillion Amphitheater in Bristow, VA.John became known as "the" engineer for feeding audio to the major tv networks as well as CNN and worked with both President Clinton and President Bush during the 1992 campaigns. He found himself engineering sound in parts of the Major Motion Picture, the Pelican Brief and for the premiers of Batman II and Gettysburg.John had set up a small recording studio in his home in Virginia and quickly became the "engineer" for bands. His first success was recording the original demo's for the band Godhead, who has gone on to Worldwide Fame.John was approached by the lengendary recording console manufacturer, API, to join forces and create a World Class Recording Studio. This 24 track facility became Rugby Road Studio's. John engineered and Produced over 50 records/bands during this time and became known as a "fixer" in the recording world.John's ability to like all styles of music enabled him to Produce records for all types and styles of music. Clients of the studio include the Delaware Destroyers and the Trisha Yearwood Band among others. John also Produced records for artists from the Philippines, Bangladesh and Jamaica.John has opened Dream Traxx Studio which is a 24 track analog to digital studio an continues to Engineer and Produce.
