Bio:

A disc bearing the title "Power of Warrior" needs to be obvious, powerful. The album paulistana heavy metal band Armored Dawn is not only powerful, it is warrior, with songs that seem called to battle. The title sounds perfect. Formed in 2011 by musician and singer Eduardo Parras, the band released last year the album "Viking Soul", which clearly showed his concern on display an accurate sound. Guitars, bass and drums followed the thinner metal primer, but keyboards and other sounds not always associated with the genre trusted to drive a captivating uniqueness. This search for sound refinement took this year the band one of the most important recording studios in Europe, Jailhouse Studios in the Danish town of Horsens. Who commands is Tommy Hansen. The mere mention of the name can leave gooseflesh fans of Helloween. It was Hansen who produced the main disc of the German band, including two volumes of "Keeper of the Seven Keys" (1987-88), real treaty of power metal. The Armored Dawn wanted to re-record the tracks Hansen of "Viking Soul", using all the experience of the producer and his studio technology. Resulted "Power of Warrior", designed in digital stereo mixing tip, hard disk recording with Pro Tools HD3 Accel 96 system, with good old roll of tape recorder and 24 channels, dedicated equipment for decades by bands today are classic rock calls. The release of the album celebrates the current lineup of the band. Parras has beside bassist Fernando Giovannetti, keyboardist Rafael Agostino, the guitarists James de Moura and Timo Kaarkoski, Finnish long ago in Brazil, and new drummer Rodrigo Oliveira. What you hear is a journey for combat scenes, warrior pride and atmosphere of medieval tales in letters of Parras in fluent English. Framing his deep voice in the ten songs on the album, instrumental pieces alternate between more accelerated tracks and other somewhat slower, engaging. Even when the band is dedicated to record a ballad like "My Heart," Parras follows his profession of faith in the heroic figure. The letter speaks of a warrior who finds himself alone and recalls the taste of distant lover's lips. Certainly it will always be one of the great moments in the shows of Armored Dawn. The song that gives name to the album was born with instant classic features. A delicate melodic line came briefly a martial drums, as a call to war, followed by a sumptuous coral. Then the guitars come angry, and voice calls Parras: "Nights made to fight / if you believe in me / my soul is screaming for you / I'm here." The epic tone is always present in songs with introductions fisgam metal fan in the first chords. "Prison" begins gradually, with each instrument coming in as a new sound layer, to form a metal-bodied anthem. "Far Away" opens with a low killer line, then the other instruments heavy attack. And hear "Too Blind to See" is felt as the battery looks like a horse galloping hallucinating. The Armored Dawn falls into the sameness of so many heavy bands that use keyboards only to introduce softer moments in the middle of pauleira. The Armored Dawn knows how interweaving keyboards with fast riffs and furious guitars. Jon Lord would like to hear this record. "Power of Warrior" is more than a sample of a great heavy band. It is a statement of intent of a group that comes to win followers. As Eduardo Parras sings in "Viking Soul": "We will fight all the time, do not ask me why." Thanks to this record, the Armored Dawn has begun to attract the attention of foreigners. Proof of this is that when it was still called Mad Old Lady, the band was the only one in Brazil to participate in the Motörhead cruise in 2015, the latter with Lemmy Kilmister, who died the same year.

Album:

Armored Dawn is a promising heavy/power metal band from Brazil that will debut on AFM Records with their new album "Barbarians In Black". Brilliant songwriting, catchy melodies and heavy guitar riffs are the ingredients for one 2018's most pleasant surprises, which will amaze fans of bands such as Orden Ogan, Firewind and Falconer. Seeb Levermann (Orden Ogan, Rhapsody Of Fire) took care of mix and mastering. Most of the songs are quite infectious, with easy to grasp hooks and choruses that should work well in a live environment. Nine songs are metal with one that is a called “Sail Away“. A few beers at a festival. In the mood for a sing song and up for some fist punching and head banging. Most of these tracks would probably do the trick nicely. The better tracks for me include the sea shanty style “Men Of Odin”, which has a bit of variety in it. The song has differing tempos and a very good melody with a guitar solo to match. In addition, the aforementioned “Gods Of Metal” which is proper cheesy metal – leave your brain at the door and scream along with the title! This is no bad thing. There are times it is good to escape and just have fun.Keyboardist Rafael Agostino adds touches and flourishes throughout and sets the scene at the start of most of the songs. Amongst the bombast of the dual guitars, bass and drums, he gives extra texture to everything. Not a bad album, but not original enough to excite me fully. The playing is of good quality and they are solid and tight. For me, they just need to branch out a little or find a sound that is more original to stand out from the crowd. This is an album for those who maybe just want to hear someone new within the confines of power metal. I would say that anyone who loves big choruses, racing guitar solos and a good vocalist, this is a band and album to definitely check out.

Album:

On September 22nd the Brazilian band ARMORED DAWN released their newest single on the main audio platforms. “No Regrets” is a song from the band’s upcoming album, which will be released in the second half of 2023. The band has been innovating in its latest releases, bringing songs with different themes from each other, but always addressing feelings that afflict the human being. “No Regrets” is a beautiful ballad about hope, being able to overcome the most difficult and darkest moments and moving forward, proud of who you are without being ashamed or regretting the past.Once again, mixing was handled by Chris Lord Alge (Muse, Green Day, Nickelback) and mastering by Ted Jensen (Bring Me The Horizon, Evanescence, Metallica). The ballad surprises those who are not yet familiar with ARMORED DAWN's music, without losing the essence that characterizes and brings identity to the band's sound. The new single also features a beautiful music video, which was recorded in the city of Torres, on the coast of Rio Grande do Sul in the south of Brazil. The production was handled by Plano9 Filmes, directed by Deivis Horbach and co-directed by Rafael Agostino, the band's keyboardist. In addition to Agostino on keyboards, Armored Dawn's current lineup includes Eduardo Parras (vocals), Tiago de Moura and Timo Kaarkoski (guitars), Heros Trench (bass) and Chris Oliveira (drums).
