Evanescence /ˌɛv.æn.ˈɛs.ɛns/ is an American rock band founded in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1995 by singer/pianist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody. After recording independent albums, the band released their first full-length album, Fallen, on Wind-up Records in 2003. Fallen sold more than 17 million copies worldwide[4] and helped the band win two Grammy Awards out of seven nominations, as well as scoring No. 6 in CBS's "Top Bestselling Albums of the Last 10 Years" (2008).A year later, Evanescence released their first live album, Anywhere but Home, which sold more than one million copies worldwide. In 2006, the band released their second studio album, The Open Door, which sold more than five million copies. The line-up of the group has changed several times: David Hodges leaving in 2002, co-founder Moody left in 2003 (mid-tour), bassist Will Boyd in 2006, followed by guitarist John LeCompt and drummer Rocky Gray in 2007, and Terry Balsamo in 2015. As a result, none of the band's three studio albums feature the same lineup. The latter two changes led to a hiatus, with temporary band members contributing to tour performances. Billboard ranked Evanescence No. 71 on the Best Artists of the Decade chart.Announced in June 2009, the newest line-up of the band eventually returned with Evanescence, their self-titled third studio album, released on October 11, 2011. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 127,000 copies in sales. The album also debuted at No. 1 on four other different Billboard charts; the Rock Albums, Digital Albums, Alternative Albums, and the Hard Rock Albums charts. The band spent 2012 on tour in promotion of their latest album with other bands including The Pretty Reckless and Fair to Midland. Troy McLawhorn also became a full-time band member during this time. Following the end of the album's tour cycle in 2012, the band entered another hiatus. In 2015, the band emerged from hiatus and announced they would resume touring; however, they denied that new Evanescence material was being produced, as Lee was focusing on a solo project instead. Album:

Synthesis is the upcoming fourth studio album by American rock band Evanescence. It is set to be released on November 10, 2017, by BMG Rights Management. The album includes reworked versions of the band's previous material with an orchestral arrangement and electronica music elements, in addition to two new songs. David Campbell was responsible for the arrangement, along with Amy Lee and drummer Will Hunt. In order to promote the new material, Evanescence embarked on the Synthesis Tour, which opened on October 14, 2017, in Las Vegas and will visit cities across the US and Canada until December.Syn·the·sis (noun): a combination of ideas, components, or styles. For the much-beloved Evanescence, that means a conglomeration of electronics that pulse alongside celestial strings and lofty vocal theatrics. Synthesis, therefore, is the new album that finally arrives on Friday, November 10, 2017 thanks to BMG.Grammy Award-winning Evanescence was founded in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1995. Much has changed since those early days, and over the past twenty-two years, the group – which now features Vocalist/Pianist Amy Lee as its sole original member – have officially released three albums – 2003’s Fallen, 2006’s The Open Door, 2011’s Evanescence – along with 2016’s B-sides collection, Lost Whispers. Touring the world and racking up accolades, the group has become synonymous with 1990s Alternative Rock thanks largely in-fact to their mega-hit singles “Bring Me to Life” and “My Immortal.”With it being six years since the band has released any new material, Evanescence – Lee, Lead Guitarist/Backing Vocalist Troy McLawhorn, Guitarist/Backing Vocalist Jen Majura, Bassist Tim McCord, and Drummer Will Hunt – are now primed for an epic return with Synthesis. Their fourth full-length studio offering reimagines many of the band’s best work, tossing in two new tracks to promise great things for the future. The sixteen-song collection strips away the guitars and the Rock drum parts, creating a package that is a dazzling Neo-Classical reinterpretation of the group’s catalogue.Synthesis begins with the one-minute piano and string instrumental “Overture,” which builds tension as it moves into “Never Go Back.” Sublimely haunting piano bleeds into strings as Lee’s vocals soar and, while she has always had quasi-operatic tendencies, she reaches beyond the stars here to fly alongside electronic beats that are gently peppered into the mix; lending a fresh new take to the 2011 original. In the bewitching “Hi-Lo” – a track reportedly originally intended for the group’s eponymous offering – Lee’s vocals coalesce with beautiful strings – including a guest appearance from the phenomenal violinist Lindsey Stirling – and electronic beats to craft a massive, epic sound that is a marvelous representation of the 2017 reincarnation of Evanescence.A divine sound belies the ugly truth behind “My Heart Is Broken,” about the heinous hot-topic of sex trafficking. Similarly, as she embraces the upper portions of her range on “Lacrymosa,” her vocals dance alongside somber strings to create an offering that is fully worthy of Broadway. Look out, Sarah Brightman! The stunning embrace of life that is “The End of the Dream” sees her lofty vocals sitting alongside electronic atmospherics. Arguably the band’s second best-known track, the smash hit “Bring Me to Life” is a necessary inclusion for the collection and this reimagining stays close to the original, so far as Lee’s vocals are concerned. The biggest change is the replacement of the guitars and drums with strings, as well as the loss of Paul McCoy of 12 Stones. The piano interlude “Unraveling” builds into strings that seem to echo notions of “Bring Me to Life” before flowing into “Imaginary.” Here, the whispery electronics take the backseat to Lee’s climbing, emotional vocals, though the orchestration is, at times, boldly massive. There are no shrinking, paper violets here! It moves into some truly phenomenal harp work that seems to summon a forest of faeries, on “Secret Door,” a lovely and light romp the blends all the very best of Synthesis’ creations to tell a dazzling, sonic fairy tale.A nod to a well-publicized past relationship, “Lithium” maintains its blushing sincerity – growing somehow more intense with this alternate arrangement – while in yet another gorgeous retelling, there is a storied intensity that builds to become “Lost In Paradise.” Like a dream within a dream, “Your Star” unfolds to embrace a gentle sway of twinkling strings that dance toward a delicious tension; the resulting track being worthy of a Broadway production. It all leads beautifully into arguably the band’s most beloved offering, “My Immortal.” A simple arrangement of strings and Lee, the focal point is now on this talented woman’s honed, matured voice along with her beautifully emotional lyrics. Though this retelling does not stray massively far from the original, many will still prefer that raw, perfectly imperfect recording that Lee has admitted to growing to personally loathe.Haunting simplicity sets the scene for the emotional depth of “The In-Between,” a splendidly authored piano solo that flows flawlessly into the coup de grace, “Imperfection.” The collection’s sole, fully original, entirely 2017 offering, the new single/video seeks to bring hope to the hopeless with its emphatic anti-suicide plea to never surrender. It is a delicious promise of what is to come from this talented group and the ultimate denouement for a collection that is magical and moving, entrancingly authored, and a superb retelling of this band’s impressive past.On Synthesis, Evanescence have stripped away anything Rock-n-Roll and replaced it with electronic twinklings dancing alongside epic orchestration. If you are going to reimagine old work, this is how you do it! There has always been a finesse and artistry that ran alongside Evanescence’s music, something deeper than simple Rock-n-Roll: on Synthesis, Lee and her musical misfits step out from behind the racing guitars to explore that intriguing piece of their magnificent puzzle. Boldly massive, gorgeously haunting, Synthesis is a collection that toes the Neo-Classical line with fierce latex ballet slippers and leather fairy wings a-flutter.

Album:

Evanescence made their way to London on a sold out date of the UK tour in support of their fourth studio album “Synthesis” on 31st March 2018. An evening many fans old and new had been waiting for finally arrived at London’s Royal Festival Hall to experience a re-imagining of their best-loved songs with the spotlight of some live orchestra and electronics combined with Amy Lee’s virtuoso piano and voice. This was bound to be an unforgettable evening for rock fans as well as classical music fans. The symphonic orchestra opening for Evanescence played phenomenally as directed by conductor Susie Benchasil Seiter who entered the stage with a wide smile to loud applauding crowd. The classical ensemble performed a cover of Mozart’s very famous masterpiece “La Chasse” and “Moonlight Montana” (Beethoven) beautifully complemented by a pianist. The audience neatly applauded at the end of each music piece. The 25-minute set ended with “Together Again” and many would agree it ended too soon. The alluring work by the orchestra enchanted the crowd who were certainly ready for what was to come next. The lights dimmed, the crowd roared with cheer and that meant it was time for the two-time Grammy-award winning Evanescence to take the stage. Lead singer Amy Lee made her entrance in a lavish forest green gown taking her position centre stage on the grand piano and went straight into the intro of “Overture” and smoothly transitioned into “Never Go Back.” Four songs in and the set reached new heights with Lee’s stunning voice that had developed new nuances perfectly fitting for the classical arrangement. Some may suggest this compensated for the loss of the heavy guitars that I once remember from the 90’s. Highlights include the dramatic yet sensational performance of the classic “Bring Me To Life” the usually heavy riffing was toned down with the addition of the orchestral elements went down immensely together with a hypnotic light show which captivated the crowd. It was like a dream. The transformation of “My Heart Is Broken” with the orchestra was met with loud clapping and cheering. Nevertheless, the heavy sound wasn’t completely lost as drummer Will Hunt demonstrated on his electronic drum kit throwing out fat beats and thunderous jack hammer kick drumming. The audience showed immense affection for Lee as they shouted “we love you” in between songs and piano interludes, and in return she dedicated the old fan favourite “My Immortal” to the fans which pumped them further. Two new songs “Imperfection,” and “Speak To Me” performed solo by Lee and the rest of the band joined her on stage for the final song “Swimming Home” which formed part of the encore songs that I felt was rushed. While Lee was the focal point of the band she was quick to acknowledge the other members of the her band bassist Tim McCord, guitarists Troy McLawhorn and Jen Majura, and of course drummer Hunt for their contributions.Overall, the orchestra was made up of freelance musicians therefore cannot be named, however they played wonderfully with their scrupulously precise and squeaky-clean covers. The powerful performance by Evanescence was perfectly executed, but the real atmosphere came from the orchestra and the evening undoubtedly belonged to Amy Lee stunned the crowd with her overwhelming vocal ability and stage presence. With a heavy haze and exhilarating light displays used throughout the show featuring electronics and a large classical ensemble this was one memorable journey and an unmissable show as Evanescence continue touring the UK on the Synthesis Tour.

Album:

The Bitter Truth is the fifth studio album by American rock band Evanescence. It was released on March 26, 2021, through BMG Rights Management and was produced by Nick Raskulinecz. The album is the band's first in more than three years, following 2017's Synthesis, as well as their first full album of new material since their self-titled third album (2011).Lead vocalist Amy Lee first spoke about a new studio album for the band in July 2018. In an interview with Detroit radio station WRIF, Lee confirmed that the band planned to work on a new album following the end of their tour in support of Synthesis. In an interview with Sirius XM backstage at Epicenter Festival at Rockingham Speedway in May 2019, Lee again confirmed that a new album was in the works.Blabbermouth.net reported that Lee was hoping the album would be ready for release in 2020. "We're just gonna get together and see what happens this month," she said, "and start doing that more regularly until we feel like we're ready to do it."Lee then provided an update on the album in November 2019, while taking part in a Reddit AMA.[9] Responding to a question pertaining to new music from the band, Lee commented that she was "absolutely living in it" and was "listen[ing] to our new music every day."I can't wait for you to hear it. It's dark and heavy. Its also got moments of weird and sparse. Little bit of everything. Definitely some of The Open Door vibes but not the same. The band entered the studio in January 2020 with Nick Raskulinecz, with whom they had previously worked on 2011's Evanescence.Although originally planning to work with several producers across the album, the band's plans changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This then turned Raskulinecz into The Bitter Truth's sole producer. The album was announced in April 2020, and was originally planned for release in late 2020.The pandemic delayed the album's completion, however, and eventually pushed it to a March 2021 release. The Bitter Truth was first announced with the release of its lead single, "Wasted on You", in April 2020. Its second single, "The Game Is Over", followed in July. The band released an additional two singles in August's "Use My Voice" and December's "Yeah Right" (as a promotional one). The former featured guest vocalists from bands such as Veridia, Within Temptation, The Pretty Reckless and Halestorm. The latter, meanwhile, was released to coincide with the announcement of the album's tracklist and release date. The fourth single, "Better Without You", was released on March 5, 2021.To promote the album in advance, the band performed the first single "Wasted on You" at the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show on February 19, 2021.The band is scheduled to tour Europe in March and April 2022 in a co-headlining tour alongside Within Temptation.

In addition, Balsamo left the band and was replaced by Jen Majura. Late 2016 saw additional touring from the band and a statement from Lee that Evanescence would continue.

Album:

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of EVANESCENCE‘s storming 2002 debut ”Fallen”, the band is releasing this newly remastered Deluxe 2-CD set including the singles “My Immortal,” “Going Under,” “Everybody’s Fool” and the Grammy-winning smash hit, “Bring Me To Life.”The expanded set also includes a trove of bonus material – ten tracks in all – comprising previously unreleased tracks and live recordings, plus a selection of rare B-sides, alongside re-imagined artwork. The main album sounds bigger now with the remastering treatment. And the bonus material is very interesting, especially the alternate, quite different versions of the hits.“Bring Me to Life” big single is featured here in four versions. The first is the original, and then there’s one from an AOL session recorded in April 2003, a live acoustic performance in 2000 and a previously unreleased demo, without the male vocalist, Paul McCoy.“Bring Me to Life”‘s demo version is an album highlight. It truly sounds different than the final song, with highly processed vocals and brooding synth sounds that didn’t make it onto the single. The song begins with distorted vocals and synths, which welcome Lee’s strong vocals and Moody’s complex guitar work. Without McCoy’s rapping in the bridge, that space is filled with a blues-tinged, ripping guitar solo. While the essence of the song is intact, this demo version is truly something that contrasts with the song that we’ve heard for two decades. An acoustic, live version of “Going Under” is another standout. This song is usually electrified and very aggressive. Instead, the reissue includes a version recorded live in Madrid. Hearing Lee’s wailing vocals amid acoustic guitars really shows her voice’s unique qualities. The set closes with a 2022 live performance of “My Immortal”. The fact that EVANESCENCE include a recent version of this song shows “Fallen”‘s enduring nature, as “My Immortal” was met with just as much excitement from the crowd in 2022 as it was back when it first dropped.“Fallen” will always have an audience. Its themes of pain, loss, heartache and triumph will never wane or go out of style. This set is a noble celebration of something that’s more than an album; it’s a musical moment in time that will never be lost.
