In 2020, the two Even Flow musicians Giorgio Lunesu and his brother Pietro Paolo started a new cooperation with producer and keyboardist Bob Katsionis (ex-Firewind). Even Flow’s lst release had been "Mother" an impressive EP - the evolution towards the albums "Life Has Just Begun" and "Ancient Memories" was unmistakable. Said cooperation was the beginning of WONDERS, a band with an approach significantly different from that of the Even Flow style. "The Fragments Of Wonder" has melodic metal tendencies, yet does not forget style-defining progressive elements – a bit comparable to early Stratovarius.After the trio PietroPaolo & Giorgio Lunesu and Katsionis had defined their musical goals, it was clear that more fellow musicians had to come on board the new band. What could be more obvious than to involve singer Marco Pastorino from Temperance, with whom Pietro Paolo had already composed a large part of the songs of the upcoming album. The last to join the WONDERS ranks was bassist Luca Negro (also from Temperance) – finally complete with this seasoned line-up, the combo started fine-tuning the songs right away.While Katsionis turned to mixing the final songs, the rest were still tinkering with the final details of their first album featuring an artwork created by Gustavo Sazes. The final result impressed Limb Music and the German label quickly signed the new melodic metal sensation."The Fragments Of Wonder" moves in the musical sphere between Stratovarius and Beast In Black, spiced with a progressive touch which does not overwhelm the listener, still delivering sophisticated songs. The production is quite powerful and guitar-heavy – an important feat because apart from catchy melodies and choruses, the guitar work is one of the outstanding trademarks of WONDERS. A song like "Freedom" combines melodic and progressive elements very forcefully and still has hit potential. "Indigo World" is even more versatile: its oppressive, heavy passages combine with enormously melodic choruses, rendering an almost perfect mix. The keyboards play an important role, supporting the poignant melody in wide parts. "Losing The Dream", with more than five minutes playing time, belongs to the most haunting songs of the debut – some passages remind you of Dream Theater and impress you with their might. "Miracle Of Life" is a rather biting, gaudy song, which has an eighties touch, especially vocally, and also stands out from the rest of the album in terms of speed. "The Fragments Of Wonder" is certainly not the average Melodic Metal album because it is sometimes quite demanding, but this aspect in particular makes this 10-tracker a real genre gem.
