Melodius Deite [Me-lo-di-us-Dei-te] is the Symphonic Melodic Progressive Power Metal band cofounded by Biggie P. Phanrath (Guitar & Keyboards), Bookkie P. Phanrath (Drums) and Oatdy P. Keartpanich (Guitar). Later on Ake N. Keartpanich (Vocals) and Ohm S. Dejkong (Bass) joined the band. We were signed by Inazuma Productions, a European label, from Poland. The band’s works is distributed worldwide in both Physical CDs and Digital Download, for example; in Japan by Disk Union store. Previously, our debut album, “Dream On” was signed by Avatarn Records from Netherlands. The name of the band was still “Melodius” at that time. Lately in 2014, we released our second full album “Episode II: Voyage Through The World Of Fantasy”. The magnificent composition and Symphony Orchestral arrangement was well combined with Power Metal music by the exclusive skills of the band.The first album was emphasized on the catchy, beautiful and powerful melody in Melodic Power Metal style. In the second one, we have developed our skills in all aspects; more delicate composition, more elegant arrangement, more complex music and stories, a much better production and more experienced skills of each member have been shown. This is thus a real progress of our band. The second album was produced and published in Europe and it was mixed and mastered by Karlin Studio in Poland. We also have a new project album released called “NIKA & Friends” with a singer from Poland. We have now released our third album with Lean Van Ranna, our new vocalist from Brazil. This album title is “Episode III: The Archangels And The Olympians”. It is our most powerful album mixed between Power Metal and Progressive Metal with the fantastic catchy melody and Classical elements, presenting with majestic heavy sound production by Karlin Studio.“Episode III: The Archangels And The Olympians” is a Symphonic Progressive Power Metal album. East Asia is not known for being a profilic region in the power metal genre, or indeed metal in general. However, there has recently emerged a powerhouse act from Thailand with a fresh and extremely impressive take on the symphonic brand of power metal.Melodius Deite combines the sweeping orchestral arrangements of Nightwish and Rhapsody of Fire with the progressive song structure of Dream Theater. A quick glance at the album art, the track length (averaging around 8 minutes), and the song titles reveal a band with tremendous ambition. Fortunately, their second album demonstrates that they have the musicianship and songwriting prowess required to convincingly present their grandiose musical vision.The opening track "Land of Fantasy" presents a great picture of the Melodius Deite sound: long, sophisticated, dynamic instrumental passages with a relatively sparse vocal contribution. The musicians work together as a cohesive unit, layering intricate melodies together, the music flowing seamlessly from one movement to the next in the same way as the greatest classical music compositions. The high production quality supports the music: every instrument clearly audible. The level of musicianship is exceptional, but there is no hint of self-indulgence. Every note exists to serve the music, to take the listener on an epic adventure through fantasy and history, while they weave their sagas of civilization from threads of the most delicate melodies. The ultimate musical escapism experience.Bands of this ilk sometimes have a tendency to overemphasise the symphonic elements, seemingly forgetting that they are - first and foremost - a metal band. Melodius Deite do not fit this mold. As I have mentioned, the instrumental arrangements are the top priority, but the pounding drums and the rumbling bass are ever-present to fuel the lower end and provide the energy that is so crucial to heavy metal. While Melodius Deite are not a riff-heavy band, they do know when to crank up the guitars to add some extra oomph to the music. A couple of examples that come to mind are the opening riff of "Territory of Memories (Atlantis)", and a head-bobbingly crunchy segment in the first half of the phenomenal 16-minute epic "Civilization".I have heaped a lot of praise on the Thai musicians, but I do identify some weaknesses which prevents them from receiving a perfect score. The vocalist Ake has great range and he enunciates well in spite of his Thai accent, but he lacks that magical quality, the seemingly effortless delivery, possessed by the genre's best singers. One can hear the strain in the more powerful vocal lines. While he is not the perfect vocalist, I should say that he is more than capable of getting the job done, with some fantastic vocal lines in "Land of Fantasy" and "Territory of Memories (Atlantis)" that are both melodic and catchy. The lyrics suffer from poor grammar, an issue that also plagues the early work of Japanese power metal stalwarts Galneryus, probably caused by a lack of a native English speaker among those involved in the creation of the album. By no means the fault of the band, but it is worth pointing out. These issues are most apparent on the album's weakest tracks - "The Sun of Aztec" and "Pyramids of Egypt" - which, incidentally, are among the shortest songs on the disc at 7 minutes and 5 minutes respectively.Nevertheless, the good far outweighs the bad. Episode II is an absolute gem of an album, an extraodinary 75 minute piece of music from a group of extraodinary musicians and songwriters. I have yet to listen to their subsequent two albums - the latest with ex-Galneryus vocalist Yama-B taking the microphone - but if they are able to maintain, or even improve on, this level of musical quality, they have every chance to carve a legacy as one of the all time great power metal bands.
