Bio:

For some they are „the only legitimate Blind Guardian successor (Rock Hard Germany 03/08), for others „the new Running Wild (Metal Hammer Germany 11/09) but „even when ORDEN OGAN regard themselves as following the tradition of these bands, the have got so much more to offer (Rock Hard Germany 06/08).This new German force in the Melodic Metal realm is said to be one of the most inventive new bands and the big zines' journalists praise the masterly and unique mixture of traditional Power Metal with modern elements, folk and progressive influences as well as elements from the Gothic genre. ORDEN OGAN know perfectly how to create an atmospheric depth, normally only created by exceptional artists like Savatage. But does that fit together? Absolutely!Further proof for ORDEN OGAN's complexity and class is shown with on their second album „Easton Hope, which will be released by AFM Records on January 22, 2010. Driven by the positive evolution following their labeldebut „Vale ORDEN OGAN worked at full speed on new songs which show a repeated enhancement to 2008's surprise success. With high attention to details ORDEN OGAN flirt unabashed with the musical legacy of cultbands such as Running Wild („We Are Pirates!) and Blind Guardian („Nothing Remains). This love to traditional German Melodic Metal sounds is underlined by the guest appearances by former Blind Guardian drummer Thomen Stauch on the latter and ex-Running Wild cult-guitarist Majk Moti performing a solo on „We Are Pirates!. But nevertheless the band's own character is always clearly present. The listener is aware at any second that he has not fallen for some copycat. Instead ORDEN OGAN manage to unfold a yet unforeseeable international potential on „Eastop Hope - not least due to the modern sound and nearly American sounding, brilliant production. As with „Vale, the recordings were done at Green Man Studios (Arnsberg / Werl, Germany), but this time singer/guitarist Seeb also handled the Mixing duties and the result is impressive. The ultra-powerful sound is nothing short of productions by Colin Richardson or Andy Sneap. The elaborate choir recordings in the cathedral of Wildeshausen have been masterly integrated into the bandcontext, which was another huge challenge, and last but not least ORDEN OGAN even won over renowned Michael Schwabe (Monoposto Studios), who is responsible for several No 1 hits, to do the mastering. Legendary cover artist Andreas Marshall was again asked to draw a painting which was used to create the cover artwork and layout. This again shows the band's dedication since this approach is much more expensive and complex than a digitally ceated artwork and can hardly be found these days.„Easton Hope starts off with the stunning „Nobody Leaves, which pricks your ears up with aggressive guitar assaults ands Seeb's powerful voice. Next is „Goodbye which focusses on grandiloquence and one of the record's most catchy chorusses. After that we enter „Easton Hope, the very city in which the concept story is set. This one is a true epic with progressive ingredients and yet another terrific chorus. This could be continued throughout the whole record up to the closing track „Of Downfall And Decline. Every song has its own identity. 11 songs, 11 direct hits. Even after listening to it 30 times „Easton Hope still is compelling, high-class and grows even more.At the latest with the release of their self-produced „Testimonium A.D. (2004) ORDEN OGAN became the biggest insider tip of Germany's metal scene and got overwhelmed with praise from critics. The official label-debut „Vale was released by Yonah records in February 2008. This album featured the whole passion of this ambitious band fronted by singer/guitarist/producer Seeb. It took more than two vears to complete this concept record which for the first time featured an Andreas Marshall cover artwork. „Vale was greatly received in Germany and got people excited not only by the high class songs but also a professional videodclip for „The Lords Of The Flies. So with hindsight it is not that surprising that the record exceeded all sales-expectations and therefore completed the sensation. Top rankings in German soundchecks and excellent reviews back up the band's exceptional status. It was particularly well received that ORDEN OGAN delivered a fresh and non-cliche piece of traditional metal art that stands out with its uniqueness. Even more: This new mixture united the tastes of old school metalheads and fans of the new generation. With numerous strong live-shows ORDEN OGAN demonstrated their outstanding reputation and clearly pointed out that they are a band to look for in the future. Finally their second album „Easton Hop is now coming out, with which ORDEN OGAN definitely surpassed themselves. Rest assured, that you will be hearing a lot more from this hitmachine from Arnsberg in 2010. Just recently they have been confirmed for Wacken Open Air...

Album:

Who remembers the splendor of the magnificence that BLIND GUARIDAN presented us back in their day? Who remembers the glory Power Metal had in the past and still continues to deliver to our ears up this very exact day? Any true fan should nod his head directly right now. I won’t call you metal heads, nor will I call you listeners. I shall call you warriors while I spill my computer ink writing this review, because this is Power Metal!ORDEN OGAN is a German Power Metal group, combining many modern elements and sound into their BLIND GUARIDAN influenced sound. They have presented us with 3 well made albums in the past and in the final year for planet earth 2012; they continue to do so with the release of “To The End”. The album is top notch for all fans of Power Metal and will make you rush towards the barracks to grab your spears and ready your march into oblivion.Musically the album is fast paced, heavy, and for the most part, it’s catchy as fuck. Guitars tend to be melodic, influenced by a traditional approach to the “epic” sound conveyed by bands like HAMMERFALL and may reach the edges of Heavy Metal. It may sound generic at certain moments like in “The Things We Believe In” and “Till The Stars Cry Out”, but other than that, a Power Metal fan will enjoy this for sure, and those who will complain need to stop expecting every band out there to present a masterpiece that is out of this world. These Germans clearly worked hard and they have followed a formula that is not flawed in any way possible.“To The End” is a personal recommendation and is surely something to sit and enjoy, whether you’re a metal extremist or critic. ORDEN OGAN has outdone themselves with a genre that seemed to have died out from this world. Proceed and enjoy this album or you might regret it.

"F.E.V.E.R.", the new video from German metallers ORDEN OGAN, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's upcoming album, "Ravenhead", which will be released on January 16 in Europe and February 3 in North America via AFM Records.ORDEN OGAN frontman Sebastian "Seeb" Levermann says about the clip: "We once again joined forces with director Rainer 'Zipp' Fränzen and his team. We know each other since collaborating for our 'The Things We Believe In' video in 2012. 'F.E.V.E.R.' became an even bigger project for us, as the filming itself was more extensive and challenging. Once again we are very happy with the result, as the 'F.E.V.E.R.' clip perfectly matches the song's atmosphere.""Ravenhead" is described in a press release as ORDEN OGAN's "most catchy and fascinating record. More than ever before in the band's history, the new piece of work is the result of teamwork, as all members were contributing in the songwriting process, with the lion's share still coming from band leader Seeb Levermann.""More metal, more choruses, more ORDEN OGAN," is the quick summary that Seeb comes up with to describe the new material — a very accurate analysis. "Ravenhead" blends traditional heavy/power metal with an up-to-date, modern production. It could be argued that it takes the sound of metal legends like RUNNING WILD, GAMMA RAY or BLIND GUARDIAN to the next level. Guest singers on the album are HAMMERFALL's Joacim Cans, who contributed vocals to "Sorrow Is Your Tale", and GRAVE DIGGER's Chris Boltendahl, who can be heard on "Here At The End Of The World". The cover artwork was created by Andreas Marschall.Seeb states: "We are fans of real painted artworks. Working with somebody like Andreas, who did all our album artworks since 'Vale', is just great. He understands our ideas perfectly and became a constant part of the team.""Ravenhead" was produced and mixed by Seeb, while the mastering was handled by Dennis Köhne (SODOM, LACUNA COIL).ORDEN OGAN will tour Europe with HAMMERFALL in January/February.

Album:

Having a soft spot for power metal, knowing that these guys were releasing a new effort this year made me really happy. After the monstrous ‘Ravenhead’ – best album of the genre in 2015 for me – it became clear that Sebastian “Seeb” Levermann (vocals, guitars, keyboards), Tobias Kersting (guitars), Niels Löffler (bass, ex-Stormblade, ex-Sardonic) and Dirk Meyer-Berhorn (drums) – commonly known to be the members of the “Order of Fear”, or simply Orden Ogan – were not kidding around in embracing their role of new keepers of the German power metal grail. With more than 20 years of activity, Seeb and crew are growing slowly and steady in the ranks of the Teutonic scene and aim to conquer the Wild West in this new album, which will come out on July 7th via AFM Records.Don’t expect, however, a spaghetti western or silly takes on the attractive – yet ludicrous and widely inaccurate – stories of American robbers, anti-heroes, sheriffs and cowboys. ‘Gunmen’ goes the other way around and offers a unique and interesting view on the matter, illustrating a dark and sorrowful atmosphere that ends up working wonders in the final product. The album features ten hard hitting, yet melodic songs that don’t actually intertwine together to form one big conceptual work, but rather each of them tell short stories themselves.“Gunman” serves as the introductory song to an overwhelming and fantastic world created by the Germans, and while not being entirely bombastic and opulent, has more than enough pompousness to capture an epic essence that works wonders as an opener. With classic Orden Ogan choirs and chorus’ symphonies, as well as blasting and galloping riffs, the track quickly dispatches you to the no-man’s land that is home to the gunman. Sworn to bring salvation by vengeance, he will find you wherever you are.The anthemic and intense “Fields of Sorrow” changes the pace and delivers an emotional story through mid-tempo verses full of virtuous riffs, great performance by Seeb and marksman precision by the kitchen with Meyer-Berhorn and Löffler. I give special attention here to the highly emotional and symphonic chorus, this time illustrating a husband’s loss through blood and tears, wondering if his wife will still love him in the kingdom of the dead.Follow-up “Forlorn and Forsaken” keeps up the pace with galloping leads and a more pumped-up chorus, but while it looks more like a straight-forward power metal track, it’s not without emotional charge. “Vampire in Ghost Town” is a weird metaphor for a guy who’s dating the wrong chick and all his friends leave him by himself, making him feel responsible for draining their energy, only to learn that it’s the girl that is truly to blame for tearing them apart. Strangely enough, the lyrics actually work out and the instrumental bit is toned down to form a darker, heavier atmosphere with stronger riffs and – of course – ghostly choirs in the background, which add some cool vibes. The choirs in the album, for that matter, are particularly stellar this time with several friends of the band helping out with the backing vocals, which include some heavy-hitters of the scene such as Klaus Dirks of Mob Rules.“Come With Me to the Other Side” features Liv Kristine (solo, ex-Leaves’ Eyes) and offer a more romantic and gothic feel to the album. While it plays as a love song, it’s not a ballad; instead, it offers double-pedal drumming and chugging leads, with some mid-to fast-tempo verses. “Down Here (Wanted: Dead or Alive) and “One Last Chance”, though, don’t strike as hard as the others nor offer something different lyric or performance-wise, but are, nevertheless, good and solid tunes. The stomping “Ashen Rain” adds some modernity to the mix with some pedal changes and pounding drumming, while being constructed as a somewhat slow opus. “The Face of Silence” and closer “Finis Coronat Opus” serve as the epic bits and deliver to the promise: grand and beautifully crafted, both are great examples of top-notch songwriting and provide a welcomed balance between the melodic, the heavy and the opulent. The latter one, in fact, couldn’t be named better, as “the end crowns the work”. Seeb was in charge of producing the effort – as it is common with their works – and Andreas Marshall provided the cover art, so you know it kicks ass.Orden Ogan prove why they are considered one of the best power metal acts to emerge in the past twenty years, and ‘Gunmen’ undoubtedly tops their creative output so far. Actually all of the songs display an immensely high quality level and contribute in some way to the experience, being it with mighty, catchy choruses, creativity or good levels of diversity. “The Face of Silence” may have the simplest, but best phrase to illustrate what the Germans represent to the power metal scene today: “We are, we are, we are, we are the future” Yes you are, Orden Ogan…yes you are.

Album:

ORDEN OGAN release their new EP with the single ‘In The Dawn Of The AI‘, out now on AFM Records and track to be taken from upcoming album ‘Final Days‘ which is set for release on 2021.“A lot of hard work was necessary to create this song“, singer Seeb comments.“I think it’s a quite epic-elaborate track which style-wise fans might expect from us. This time we added a touch of Sci-Fi, and this will be something you can witness throughout the entire new ‘Final Days’ album. ‘In The Dawn Of The AI’ is one of the doomsday scenarios we show on the album. It’s about the most likely scenario when creating a ‘real’ artificial intelligence which becomes self-aware, constantly learns and grows.“.The German power metal institution ORDEN OGAN will release new album ‘Final Days’ on 13th November via AFM RECORDS worldwide.Singer and Producer Sebastian “Seeb” Levermann explains: “Final Days is a dark-science-fiction-concept-record and it features all ORDEN OGAN trademarks, fat and modern riffs, epic choruses and melancholic orchestral arrangements. On this record you will find the best songs that we have ever written. Gunmen was a strong and important record for us, but Final Days takes it to the next level.”ORDEN OGAN will bring a whole new show for the ‘Final Day Tour’ so get your tickets before the shows are sold out!

Album:

German power metal institution Orden Ogan drops a bombshell. The new album "Final Days" will be released via AFM Records worldwide. Where to go from the Wild West? Singer and producer Sebastian 'Seeb' Levermann explains: "Final Days is a dark science fiction concept record and it features all Orden Ogan trademarks, such as fat and modern riffs, epic choruses and melancholic orchestral arrangements. On this record you will find the best songs that we have ever written. Gunmen was a strong and important record for us, but Final Days takes it to the next level.'"Gunmen" entered the German album charts on #8 in 2017. The corresponding tour, with Rhapsody Of Fire as support, included many sold-out shows. Today the Germans Orden Ogan rank among the most successful acts of the genre. Orden Ogan's own Pirate Cruise was sold out in 25 hours, their last "Gunmen" show was sold out in just 3 weeks (and 18 weeks prior to the show).

Album:

If you’re even remotely interested in power metal and haven’t checked out ORDEN OGAN yet, rectify that immediately. Since 2008, the Teutonic five-piece have dished out a constant stream of high-quality albums and established themselves as one of the genre’s leading lights. They write choruses so infectious they could make your limbs turn green and fall off, have riffs beyond counting and some surprisingly chunky mosh parts as well. Like POWERWOLF and SABATON? You will adore these boys. They are utterly brilliant. And with that slightly over-excited introduction out the way, we should point out that newcomers won’t want to start with this one. Yes, we realise you’ve already scrolled down and seen that impressive eight out of ten score, but this isn’t the best place for ORDEN OGAN rookies. It’s going to have the diehards in throes of ecstasy, but newbies should look elsewhere. Why? Simple, this isn’t ORDEN OGAN, it’s ORDEN OGAN AND FRIENDS. Final Days is a re-recording of their identically-monikered 2021 album, only with an assortment of guest musicians handling all the vocals. Frontman Sebastian ‘Seeb’ Levermann gives his pipes a rest and a who’s-who of like-minded singers take his place. It’s still brilliant, and the chance to hear guys like Nils Molin (DYNAZTY) or Andy B. Franck (BRAINSTORM) singing for ORDEN OGAN will give genre fans heart palpitations, but it’s a glorified bonus disc rather than a proper album.Make no mistake though, the original Final Days is ace and this fresh incarnation is too. The songs still hit with incredible force and the majority of them sound terrific. Peavy Wagner (RAGE) lends his macho tones to Heart Of The Android with all the subtlety of an Arctic ice shelf breaking loose, and Let The Fire Rain with Stu Block (ICED EARTH, INTO ETERNITY) is as epic as ever. In The Dawn Of The AI has a breakdown gnarly enough to make hardcore fans do the Christian Bale face, and some of these melodies soar. Not everything works this time around though. There’s a wealth of talent involved, but a few of the guests just don’t suit the songs. Elina Siirala of LEAVES EYES is unquestionably a great singer, but she’s over-produced here and too shiny for the subject material. The normally charismatic Marc Lopes (ROSS THE BOSS) meanwhile can’t help sounding like he’s taking a break from trying to steal his precious back from the nasty Hobbitses, and his take on Hollow is unusually irritating.Curiously, the most appealing work comes from singers outside of the power metal sphere. Leif Jensen (DEW SCENTED) stubbornly refuses to do clean vocals and turns Black Hole into a pristine slice of Gothenburgian death metal, while Dennis Diehl puts in a remarkable performance on It Is Over. The ANY GIVEN DAY singer is better known for metalcore, but he holds his own against his more flamboyant contemporaries and the song resonates with emotive depth. That aside, there’s a brand-new track named December for completists to enjoy, plus an orchestral reworking of Fields Of Sorrow from the Gunmen album. They’re both entertaining and won’t do anything to upset the apple cart, but the guest vocalists are the big selling point for ORDEN OGAN AND FRIENDS. This version of Final Days is just as grand and enthralling as its bigger brother, but if we had to choose, we’d go for the original. This is exceptional, but it was already exceptional back in 2021. So, while it may be unusual to end a glowing review by recommending a different album, we implore you to check out the standard edition of Final Days. Once you’ve played it to death, this one will be waiting.
