Info:

A unique mixture of progressive metal with super riffs, and A.O.R. melodies.Something between Fates Warning, Faith No More, Queensryche, Annihilator, H.I.M. but in a personal way!!Eldritch is a progressive/power metal band formed in 1991 in Italy.[1] Their history began when Eugene Simone, Adriano Dal Canto, and Terence Holler formed a band with the intent of putting out some demos. Right after the lineup was complete and the demos started to spread over the scene, the interest towards the band began to grow until Limp Schoor, in 1993 accepted to be their manager. In 1995 the band put out the debut album Seeds of Rage for Inside Out Music label. The album had good success, winning an award as Album of the Month on the German magazine Heavy, oder was!?. Two years later, in 1997, the band proceeded to follow the same flow in terms of musical ideals, to the point where they published Headquake, having success again, and at the time the Organization of the Gods of Metal Festival was convinced to include them in the bill. By the end of the same year another important step took place, and it was a promotional tour in support of Angra, by which Eldritch achieved European consense.1998 was the year of a change in style. With the publishing of El Nino the band followed influences such as Metallica, Coroner, and Annihilator. The crowd and the media appreciated very much their change as their albums selling grew and a successful tour with Threshold and Pain Of Salvation came. 1998 is even the year of a lineup change. With the new lineup the band had to face many difficulties, and within 3 years, in 2001 they published Reverse, an album which marked a new turn to the band's style and composition ideas. they approached more complex riffs, with the influence of bands such as Machine Head and Pantera. That year they participated again to the Gods Of Metal Festival. The following album was published 3 years after. After changing lineup again, they changed label too this time, signing with Limb Music Products, and Portrait of the Abyss Within was put out in 2004.In 2006 Eldritch had a new turn. With the publishing of Neighbourhell the band defined their own distinctive style which was very much appreciated by the specialized media. During that year the band participated to different festivals all over the world like Chicago Powerfest as headliners, to the Evolution festival and many other Italian festivals as headliners. After putting out the album Blackenday, the Leghorn band intent was to work on another album, which, as they declare, it will be even more complex and technically challenging than their previous albums

Album:

To think that a band as prolific as Eldritch has been flying under the radar for all these years is astounding. Now on their ninth studio album, Tasting the Tears, the progressive outfit deliver quite a melancholic contrast to their previous release, Gaia’s Legacy. With their unique brand of power-prog, the band has made, what I believe to be, a cohesive and coherent album that flows together seamlessly. It’s not a stretch to say that there is not a single weak track on this album. It’s not a stretch to say that there is not an amazing track either. The overbearing atmosphere throughout the album certainly plays to Eldritch’s advantage, but taken on a track-by-track basis, some of the songs fall flat. Too much of the material is played too close to home; for a progressive band, very few, if any, risks are taken musically. As always, synths play a huge role in the melodies, as is evident immediately on the title track and “Inside You”, and guitars provide a framework for said melodies, but too many songs tread the mid-tempo line for too long.“Something Strong”, halfway through the album, provides the break from this monotony and manages to reinvigorate the album. As is consistent throughout the album, the catchy chorus and punchy drums propel this track to the upper-tier of this album. Unfortunately, the album’s lone ballad, “Iris” does slow the album down needlessly, and I’m saying that as someone who can always appreciate an occasional ballad. It’s not until the final song, “Clouds”, where I feel the momentum of the album pick up, only for it to abruptly end on a somber note on a cover of Queensrÿche’s “I Will Remember”.Terence Holler’s vocals are one of the fantastic pieces of this puzzle, along with Gabriele Caselli’s insanely infectious keys. Terence’s delivery and tone is similar to that of Mutiny Within’s Chris Clancy, as is the overarching gloominess and depressing overtones. However, the guitars seem to get overshadowed by the aforementioned duo, and this leads to parts of the album dragging on mercilessly. Admittedly I’m not familiar enough with the rest of their discography to know if the emphasis on vocals and keys is a recurring theme, but I’d like to think that there’s more to the rest of the band than what the album lets on.Regardless of those shortcomings, the album is incredibly unified and focused, something that is rare for many bands nowadays. In Tasting the Tears each song feels like a natural successor to the one before it, and no song feels out of place. In fact, the identity the album builds for itself is quite massive. The draining themes are quite a change of pace from the vast amount of happy power-prog metal available, and for that, Eldritch deserves its fair chance from the many who have not yet experienced the band’s masterful and seamless songwriting.

Album:

Technical prog metal masters Eldritch are going to release their 12th studio-album "EOS" on Scarlet Records. Hard to believe, given the exquisite quality of the entire back catalogue, but this new & unique mixture of early progressive rock elements and modern metal sounds - with hints of AOR, thrash, classic and electronic music - is the Eldritch all-time peak. You can hear some early-era Genesis mixed with an aggressive, Swedish-like riffing; the vocal lines of frontman Terence Holler are quite original and combine influences picked from a large variety of styles too. The entire work has been produced by the mastermind, main songwriter and guitarist Eugene Simone. The band also welcomed back keyboard player Oleg Smirnoff after 20 years, as he was a key member of their acclaimed first three records in the 90s. "EOS" is the goddess of the dawn in Greek mythology and the album sounds 'classic Eldritch' and yet so contemporary: call it a second youth or, much better, just great music written and performed by a very skilled and confident ensemble.

Album:

Eldritch is back with talented new frontman Alex Jarusso, ready to broaden its sonic spectrum and impress old & new fans. "Innervoid" strikes hard with both relentless sonic aggression and a truly emotional charge: a perfect mix of devastating guitar riffs and rhythm section and melancholic melodic openings, with a certain dark mood. The very interpersonal lyrics - in which the human soul is speaking freely - are perfectly in line with the complex and captivating music of the seasoned tech-prog metal merchants.
